False.

The new birth (John 3) is not about baptism.

Salvation by grace through faith, not of works (Ephesians 2.8-9) says nothing about baptism.

John 3.16 says nothing about baptism.

It all speaks baptism if you have understanding . Here, read this:https://www.christiancourier.com/articles/1483-does-ephesians-2-8-9-exclude-baptism

Picking verses and chapters out of the bible don't justify taking God's whole word (OT, NT) out of context which you are guilty of.

"Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved"

That is what Paul told the jailer. Pretty sure Paul knew what he was talking about. That's all, and exactly, what he said: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ"

"Then Simon himself believed also"............Simon fulfilled all requirements laid out by Christ and relayed by Paul. Simon was saved at that moment.

That is bible. That is not a parable. That is indisputable. That is Paul's gospel that he obtained directly from Christ.

Amen! I love the word "believe" in Hebrew (though I know in the NT this would have been the Greek version).

It gives adjectives like "confirmed, lasting, and sure." It is a lasting and sure trust in Christ. It gives such greater weight than the English word "Believe" which is also often interchanged with "think." People say "I think he is at the store" or "I believe he is at the store." It just doesn't do the Greek and Hebrew justice!

Saved by the washing of the water by the word. Baptism is making a dead spirit alive. Which means SAVING from distruction.

.......oh goodness............and, pray tell, what WATER is this referring to? It ain't the local river water, or a church baptistery.....

Once entered in the race by being “saved,” a Christian takes “hold of the life which is life indeed.” But is it possible to lose that grip on life? Paul answers with this question: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize?” In the Christian race, Paul indicates the “one” who receives the prize is anyone who finishes the race. Therefore, Paul urges, “So run that you may obtain it.” Then, using himself as an example to make the point of his illustration, he continues: “I pommel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”—1 Tim. 6:19; 1 Cor. 9:24-27, RSV.
Evidently the apostle, who surely was a “saved” Christian, believed that even he could be “disqualified” from the race. Yet as long as he continued to ‘run that he might obtain’ the prize, thus remaining in the race, salvation was assured. This is why Christians who remain in the race can be said to ‘have everlasting life.’ But if they should ever quit the race, they are “disqualified,” losing their hold on everlasting life.

CRC, that is a very good point. The application is spot on. I so enjoy seeing a scripture in a different light, and there can be no doubt the way you presented that is accurate.

Understand please that to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is to believe his teaching simply put. So what did he teach? Repentance.
Do you truly believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and risen from the dead? have you asked Jesus to come into your heart? Rev 3 tells us that if you ask he and the Father will come in and He will be your God.
If yes then you are saved. But that is only your spirit. You have a soul. You have to work out the salvation of your soul with fear and trembling. Your spirit gets changed from a child of the devil to a child of God when you get born of the spirit. But you still have a lot of bad habits, incorrect knowledge, sinful ways and practices controlling your soul. These need to be dealt with as long as you are alive. The thief on the cross dealt with only one thing. He accepted Jesus as Lord. Lucky guy.
So to save your soul repent as the Lord makes you aware of sin in your life. Read the word. All of it. Study it because Jesus is the word made flesh. As you study He will teach you. Be a doer of the word and not just a hearer. Suffer the exhortation of the word. Jesus loves you and wants to fellowship with you. Talk to Him as you study. You will be surprised what He will say back to you.
One time when I needed a healing for a reoccuring rash I asked Him for my healing because after reading Isaiah 53 and other scriptures I new he would heal me. I heard Him speak in my thoughts to rub a carrot on it. I did this and haven't had the rash for over 25 years.
Many here can tell you how they obeyed Jesus and received. He says my sheep hear my voice and another they will not follow.
Just start studying and talking to Jesus. The rest will come in time.

Thanks for this. Thanks also for your testimony of healing. One of the greatest lessons that the Lord has taught me is the need to never forget that since I received Jesus Christ as my saviour, my identity is the divine nature of God in Christ Jesus. To remember that I am a partaker in God's divine nature is to know that God's nature is love, holiness, righteousness, provision, peace, sufficiency and health. It is also to know that when I walk in God's divine nature I walk in authority. Love has authority over hate, peace has authority over anxiety, health has authority over sickness, provision has authority over lack and so on. Authority is important because it is fundamentally about the restoration of man, who God created and gave authority over the earth.

I came to realise that the issue of identity is just as apparent in the spiritual as in the physical. If we don't acknowledge what God says we are, then the enemy has a ready made set of 'identities' with which to label us in order to exert a controlling and malevolent influence over our lives.

Accepting that my identity is the divine nature of God, in Christ Jesus, has really helped me to walk in authority in things that I have previously struggled with. Now, when faced with trials and temptations, I constantly remind myself that my identity is Christ.

Salvation is not the prize, the prize is an award, a victor's crown, that is received at the judgment seat (bema) of Christ (2 Cor 5:9,10) for running the race with patience (Heb 12:1) without being hindered from continuing on (Luke 11:52, Gal 5:7). If they are hindered in the race by the devil or some false doctrine of leaven, or even by a besetting sin (Heb 12:1), they will not be disqualified from salvation or inheriting eternal life in the kingdom of God, but will suffer the loss of rewards which may includes the victor's crown and possibly their part or portion of the tree of life in heaven (1 Cor 3:11-15, ). There are those who will appear before the judgment seat of Christ, whose works will be tried by fire and will suffer the loss of rewards but they will be saved as by fire.

1 Cor 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Rev 22:12-14, 19,20

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

We really need to study and even exegete (1 Tim 6) to see the meaning of what is meant to lay hold of eternal life.IMAG0010a.JPG

Not exactly....adding context...

Acts 16.30 - 34

And leading them outside, he said, Sirs, what must I do that I may be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household. And they spoke the Word of the Lord to him, and to all those in his house. And taking them in that hour of the night, he washed from their stripes. And he and all those belonging to him were baptized at once. And bringing them up to the house, he set a table before them, and exulted whole-housely, believing God.

Context informs the reader that a belief in Jesus constitutes the understanding of the Word and baptism in the singular name of the Lord formula as set forth in the gospels (i.e. three persons; one Being...The Trinity).

Not quite. Being saved, a belief in Jesus, as you put it, constitutes a desire for understanding of the word and baptism. No one in the world ever understood the gospel when they got saved. That is called growth, becoming a man and putting away childish things, getting away from milk and taking strong meat. No baby was ever born ready to chew a steak. That must be acquired with age, growth, maturity.

Being saved requires believing in Christ. If we believe in Christ, we will seek diligently to follow Him, and all these other things will fall into place. Being saved - believing in Christ - is all it takes. If you die the moment you profess belief in Christ, if you are being truthful, you will go to heaven. For you to keep that salvation, one must obey. That is where backsliding enters. It isn't hard to get saved. To keep it from slipping away is going to require effort.

You are perpetrating and propagating the opposite of the gospel of grace. You are turning the grace of God into a works program and that is another gospel contrary to Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Our calling and election when we responded by faith to the call of the gospel is by grace through faith, meaning that it is given unto us freely and we freely receive it (Rom 3:23-26, 8:32, 1 Cor 2:12, 2 Cor 11:7).

Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

2Tim 1:9,10 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

This begs the question....what are we being saved from?

The answer: God's wrath.

But....who is our Savior that saves us from His wrath?

That would be the Triune God.

You are not saved unless you worship The Creator as He revealed Himself, as Triune.

Simple, Biblical Truth.

You are perpetrating and propagating the opposite of the gospel of grace. You are turning the grace of God into a works program and that is another gospel contrary to Jesus Christ and Him crucified................................................
Some of the responses to my posts are hysterical. I sit here and read some of this tripe and wonder if (A) anyone actually reads my posts, and (B) if anyone actually reads the bible.
To say I am advocating a works based salvation is a flat lie.
If you think you get saved and all knowledge, grace, maturity, and understanding fall in your lap, you're not nearly as bright as you think you are.
Christ will save you - IF you will follow Him. By accepting that gift from Him, you agree to follow Him. IF you don't follow Him, you renege on your part of the deal. What is so hard to understand about that????????

Mark 8:34 "And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."

Fella, when you get saved there is a cross to bear. A cross is a burden. It denotes a task to handle. Only a foolish person thinks once you get saved it's all over but the shouting.

The Bible can't be used in this way. This is where division and confusion comes from in the body of Christ. First read the whole context of these verses. Then take all the verses on salvation and you'll know the answer. Every verse, as Isaiah said, has a mate(Isa 34:16) what's these verses mate? Verses are always a chorus, they don't like solos. Finishing reading and group them with others. Get the full meal benefit.

THE JAILER

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” [SUP] [/SUP]And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized (Acts 16:31-33)

SIMION

But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized.... Then Simon himself believed and was baptized. (Acts 8:12-13)

PETECOST

Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do to be saved?”[SUP] [/SUP]Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins... (Acts 2:38)

JESUS SAYS

Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.(Mk 16:16)

“I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit."(Jn 3:5)

The apostles would follow these commands, along with the great commission.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Salvation is more than just believing, James writes in 2:19 "the demons also believe and shudder!"

According to the Bible in completion to be saved steps:

1. Confessing Jesus as the ultimate authority of your life (Rom 10:9)
2. Pisteuo, meaning to have faith, to trust in; the fact that God raised Jesus from the dead (Rom 10:10)
3. Metanioa, meaning to have a complete change of mind, character, person (Acts 2:38). This can happen before, during, or after baptism(Acts 10:47, Acts 8:17, Acts in general)
4. Be baptized immediately in the authority of Jesus (Acts 16:33, Acts 2:38)
5. Receive the Holy Spirit inside of you (Acts 2:38, Jn 3:5)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's the way of salvation, but not the end. You must die to yourself daily(Mt 16:24) by cutting off sin (Col 3:5,Deut 30:6) with the power of Holy Spirit (Rom 2:29), and do good works in which we were created for(Eph 2:10) to glorify God(Mt 5:16). Think that about sums it up :) There is a lot of OT fulfillment in salvation and is what makes the steps important, all of them. God doesn't change and what the NT is, is the fulfillment of the OT. OT wasn't made void but brought to it's fullness because of Jesus.

The Bible can't be used in this way. This is where division and confusion comes from in the body of Christ. First read the whole context of these verses..................
I assume you are speaking to me, young lady. And if so, I assume, since you seem somewhat cavalier and disrespectful towards my posts, you know quite about more about the bible than me. Since that appears to be the case, would you please be kind enought to tell me if Simon was saved? It doesn't say anything about him having his whole household there, nor does it say anything about Simon washing anyones wounds out. Acts 8:13

And, for your information, division happens when people start substituting man's doctrine for God's, and people like me stand in defense of the word. That division better occur if a person is serving God. Acts 18:9

Acts 16:34 "And he brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his house, having believed in God."

The participle 'having believed' includes all the jailer had done including his repentance as by washing their stripes and being baptized

------------------

Acts 8:13 "Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done."

Simon believed as was baptized for Jesus said 'he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved" Mk 16:16

---------------------

All the belief only in the world will never save an impenitent person, Lk 13:3,5, never save one that denies Christ, Mt 10:32,33 never save one unbaptized lost in his unremitted/unforgiven sins; Mk 16:16' Acts 2:38

Your statement above is not hysterical, it is a false gospel and I don't care how much of the word you have read. The Spirit of God never revealed to you or witnessed that this is the gospel of grace or of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are not a wise man and you do not know the gospel of the finished work of Christ. God's finished work salvation is not some slippery slope that we have to keep from slipping away and for anyone to hear this terrible gospel you ascribe to should rebuke and admonish you without question. It's a work based gospel you propagate because you require others to keep it from slipping away. Taking up a cross has nothing to do with that.

Taking up a cross is denying self and all of the desires that we have in the flesh for self gratification. We lay them aside by putting off the old man and putting on Christ as a disciple. Taking up our cross is not a qualification for salvation but to live a selfless life and to learn what it means to be crucified with Christ experiencially. Good luck on your death bed if that is what you believe. You better make such you're confessed up to date and that you don't confuse your self righteousness with the righteousness of God when you're suffering from dementia and that your own tongue does not sin against you or another.
