I know! It was inevitable, I guess! Hey, hey Christian... do you have a pebble collection!? I do. I even painted them some faces, named each one and I talk to them every day and...

Kidding, hahah, I couldn't help it.

Haha! No, sorry, I don't. I did as a child though. Not that I talked to them every day (or any day really) but I painted faces and glued googly eyes on them.

You better believe it was awesome! Pouring over all of the concept art, seeing the pure imagination and child-like nature of the entire place etc - it was fantastic and quite affordable ($12AUD when I went in 2006).

Grave of the Fireflies was very sad, it also brought me to tears. Dang.

Which is your favourite?
I have a few. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, while very different and less complex than the brilliant manga, is a favourite of mine and the second Studio Ghibli movie I ever saw (the first was Spirited Away - another great movie). Princess Mononoke is fantastic but darker than his other fare. My Neighbour Totoro is wondrous and amazing and Whisper of the Heart gets me right in the heart. *cough* Oh bother, I'd be listing nearly all of them if I kept going.

Spirited Away was the very first one I saw, and it being the first, holds a special place in my heart. PLUS THE FILM SCORE, Oh, it was just beautiful. But Princess Mononoke is one of my favourites. As you said, it is slightly darker than his others, and has a few supernatural and spiritual themes, but it just blew my mind with its creativity and interesting message. My Neighbour Totoro left me feeling really, really happy and I love the child like lens it had, and was so beautifully put. BUT Howl's moving castle.... argh. That beautiful love story...

Actually, how does one choose a favourite? They all fit in this amazing category of its own, and yet each delivers something slightly different. Sigh. Conundrum.

Oh yeah, and, *High-fives*. I think the whole Studio Ghibli thing really broke out in the western world with Spirited Away. It is a first for most.

as for the Miyazaki films, I've only seen about half of the ones Arlene posted above, but to be fair I haven't seen that many movies in general sooo I suppose it evens out. I do want to watch more of his films, though!

It's somewhat of a tie between castle in the sky and spirited away, but I think spirited away holds an extra special place in my heart because I watched it in theaters here when I was 8. It was the first animated movie to completely BLOW MY MIND and just make me feel so much. But really. How do you NOT have the feels when watching any of his films?

I was brought up on Marvel... and since it was bred in to me, I can't make room for DC, hahah, even though I thoroughly enjoyed the Batman movies.

I'm a fan of the Spider-Man movies, and I loved all those 90's X-Men and Spider-Man cartoons. I learnt how to play the X-Men cartoon theme song on my violin years ago.

I think I saw somewhere in these forums you kind of like horror or something? I used to be a fan of Stephen King, but not anymore because I've turned in to the biggest chicken, hahah. But I used to collect the Dark Towers comic book series when Stephen King and Marvel collaborated. And the comic book artist, Jae Lee, is my absolute favourite.

I enjoy psychological horror but I'm also a bit of a scaredy cat. Don't ask me how that works. One of my absolute novels (along with The Chronicles of Narnia) is Stephen King's The Stand. I've read the first novel in the Dark Tower series. I plan on reading the rest in the not-too-distant future.

Neat-i-o. I think I got to the fourth novel of the Dark Tower series and then gave up, hahah. I'll have to read the Chronicles of Narnia one day!

Moments of pure terror...
I was just laying the baby down in her bed in my room when I heard a blood- curdling scream from the living room. My son.

I leave the window open with a small fan across the bottom of it. He's lately taken to looking out the window, but it's usually on the other side...
apparently he was trying to look down. I don't know. I came running in, and the screen was missing and the fan was dangling outside by the cord, and my little boy was halfway out the window.

We live on the third floor.

I don't...I can't...*sigh* when it rains, it pours. Thank God I caught him in time, but...*sigh*

This made my heart sink into my stomach. I remember when my son ate pennies, Mom I swallowed the brown money. He was OK but I still was a little panicked. Oh and a couple of weeks ago we where watching this show at a amusement park, he was sitting next to me eating popcorn. My Daughter asked me a question so I was looking at her, then I looked at the table and his popcorn was in front of me. I turned my head to look at him and he was gone, just gone. I was panicked, so I'm thinking what rides he likes, then I saw him get off the Tilt A Whirl. I asked him if he told me he was going on it, no. We had a lengthy discussion. He made one of my worst fears come true for a minute.

I have read the first 4 of the Dark Tower series. The Stand was an excellent read.
