I find it funny how people who say they're christians act this way calling eachother names and whatnot. Also its funny how people can pick one verse out of the Bible and live off of it. You need to read the whole chapteror better yet the book. God doesn't care about what you put on your body all that matters is your relationship with God. And no they're not sinning because they have tattoos. Some of the best role models, nicest people i know have tattoos.

I don't have any tattoos or piercings. Had my ears pierced when I was little but don't wear earings now. Earrings don't bother me. Tattoos, a different story. If God wanted us to have pics on our bodies, He would've created us with them on us to begin with.

In agreeing to that statement I also think youve got a lot of growing to do. I will warn you about you thinking your nearly always right and giving off that "holier than thou" attitude. Jesus fought against this with the Pharisee's who also liked using old testament laws to find new ways of convicting others of sinning.
I think most of us here have set clear and safe boundaries on ourselves when it comes to piercing and tattooing. You are entitled to your opinion Kathleen but I think rewording how you say things instead of comming off as accusing would be the best way to go. Everyone interprets the bible and its thoughts on this differently, so I recommend you return some love by respecting others thoughts as their own as well. Saying Im right and your wrong makes you appear like your looking for a fight.

Its true that works will not get you into heaven, however when you are regenerated by the Holy Spirit though Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. We will bring forth the fruits of the Spirit and the greatest of these Paul wrote is love because if we love others as we love ourselves we will not:

Steal-- How can we take something away from someone if we love.

Kill--- we cannot take someones life if we love them

covet-- we will not want something that belongs to someone else if we love them; we should be glad for them.

Commit adultry--- we cannot take someone elses lover if we love them.

And if we love others we will not show breast cleavage that might cause someone to lust.

How does peircings glorify Christ/God? Your body is not ur own, u do not own it

As Chrisitans, we want to be as Christ-like as possible. Sin as little as we can resist and have and show good testimonies. So y then, would we want to change the one thing that we have most in comman with the Lord Jesus Saviour. We are created in the image of God, is this not good enogh for u? God has given u a colour of skin, he has chosen every tiny detail up to whether u have freckles or not. Y change what he has created - if he wanted prints on u he would have made u that way.

Another scripture that warns us not to disfigure our bodies is "You are the sons of the LORD your God: you shall not cut yourselves, or make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead."
When it speaks here about doing this in relation to the dead; this was a witchcraft rite done to mourn or remember their dead, so cutting, piercing and tattooing have its origin in witchcraft practices. The verse below reveals a connection between foreign gods and earrings.

First off, I wouldn't clasify a piercing as a cutting. But are you saying with Leviticus 19:28 that if I were to cut myself by accident it would be a sin. If I slipped and fell and cut my hand, that would be me sinning? Now when you are saying any, take not of the punctuation. it is a comma and therefor a pause refering to the same topic as before. if it were a semicolon than I could be sure to it not refering to the dead as a semi colon seperates two thoughts.

As for our bodies being the temply of the Holy Ghost, tattoose or piercings are not harming hte temple of God, nor are they destroying it. So I still have seen no harm in it.

How do piercings not glorify God? I can reverse the question, but I also will answer your question. Not necesarly do they glorify God, but the fact is piercings do honestly open me up to a whole new crowd or people to share the Truth with.

Nor am I editing or changing myself, I am simply adding on. I can easily say I am decorating the temply of God.

Again for this one, I do believe that God made us in perfection and we fell to sin. Either way it doesn't mean that it is a sin to add a piercing or a tattoo.

You keep insisting that it is a sin, yet I have seen no solid proof that it is a sin. So a lot of your arguments have flaws because the backbone of them are that piercings and tattoos are sins.

Again we are not cutting ourselves.

Now if you are saying that because I have piercings I am at more risk to be under satanic attack, that is utterly ridiculous. They got those piercings, and cut themselves, for witchcraft, and other satanic stuff, I didn't get mine in a satanic manner. I got them for my self.

First off you have no right to start judging me. It sounds like because I don't see any problems with piercings or tattoos, that you automatically assume I'm not an actual christian. So first off I honestly would lay down my life for Christ. I forget what thread it was on but I was just talking about that actually. I was saying how much of an honour it would be for God to let me suffer for my belief in him. I am not readily accepting a tattoo, I am choosing a tattoo that I want, and that glorifies God. I'm also not someone to just ignore advice. I have taken tons of advice. Without advice I would still be in the mess that God saved me from. I do listen, but when I see no reason to believe what people are pushing on me, than why would i take that advice?

yeah, it's far fetched, as it's not really a mark, but it has a important point: Which of you thought that getting a VISA card could be a non- christian thing? Anyone? i think there's some validity to holding to moral values, but my values do not HAVE to be your values...and most of all, we are to LOVE others toward Christ, not push them away with petty rules forced on them before they have truly been convicted by Christ...there was not a lot of loving someone toward Christ present in this thread...

as far as the topic is concerned, i am under the belief that it can glorify God....i wear a cross every day around my neck, and it has led to some amazing chances to minister when i was working as a bouncer in a club...i believe there is an intent factor that is being completely ignored here...

Well, how are tattoos disrespecting your body? You can get God glorifying tattoos. The two tattoos I want to get are both giving glory to God.
