Blessings to you all...

Please don't be offended by this post, it's only here to help.

If your denomination says the Law was given to the Jews only they are misleading you.

Exodus 12:49 "One law shall be for the native-born and for the foreigner who dwells among you."

Leviticus 24:22 "You shall have the same law for the stranger and for one from your own country; for I am the Lord your God.’”

If your denomination says the Sabbath was for the Jewish people and not for the Gentiles they are misleading you.

Isaiah 56:6-8 As for the Gentiles, the outsiders who join the people of the Lord and serve him and love his name, who are his servants and don’t desecrate the Sabbath, and have accepted his covenant and promises, I will bring them also to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and make them full of joy within my House of Prayer. I will accept their sacrifices and offerings, for my house shall be called “A House of Prayer for All People”! For the Lord God who brings back the outcasts of Israel says: I will bring others, too, besides my people Israel.

If your denomination says the the Sabbath was not made for all mankind they are misleading you.

Mark 2:27 And Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for mankind."

Everything God has done and offered to mankind was done through His chosen people. He was using Israel to reveal Himself and save the world. Salvation is of the Jews, the New Covenant is of Israel. Jesus was a Jew.

Hebrews 8:8 Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

Hebrews 8:10 For this is
the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

We, as Gentiles, are to be grafted in to Israel through Jesus Christ and become partakers of the covenant of promise.

Ephesians 2:11-13 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

The church has not replaced Israel. Gentiles are grafted in to what God is doing through Israel.

Romans 11:13-25 For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them. For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in Hisgoodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

Deut 5:1-5 shows the law of Moses was only given to the Jews not anyone else.
Ex 34:27,28 God made a covenant with Moses and Israel, no one else.
Ex 31:12-17 the Sabbath day was a sign specifically between God and Israel.

Ex 12:49; Lev 24:22 refer to proselytes to the Jewish religion.

Ex 12:43 And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof:

Ex 12:44 But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.

Ex 12:45 A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof.

Ex 12:46 In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.

Ex 12:47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it.

Ex 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

Ex 12:49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

In these verses, God is giving instructions concerning the Passover to Moses and Aaron. In verse 43, God tells them, "there shall no stranger eat thereof." Yet, in verses 48 and 49, God talks about strangers keeping the Passover. When we see what appears to be a contradiction, we must do some digging to find out what is really going on.

First, we find that "stranger" in verse 43 and "stranger" in verses 48 and 49 are from different Hebrew words. "Stranger" in verse 43 means "son of a foreigner," which is merely a way of indicating a foreigner. We'll look at verses 48 and 49 when we come to them.

Verse 44 says that servants who are circumcised shall eat the Passover. This obviously means servants who are not native Israelites but who become as Israelites by becoming circumcised. But verse 45 says, "A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof." The word "foreigner" in this verse is from still another Hebrew word. It means "resident alien." It refers to someone of another nation living in Israel who is not circumcised as an Israelite. "Hired servant" is from a Hebrew word that means "hireling." It refers to someone—in this case, obviously a non-Israelite—who does not become part of a household but merely works certain hours for wages. The point is again that those who are not circumcised may not eat the Passover.

Verse 47 says that all the congregation of Israel shall keep the Passover. Then, in verse 48, we read, "And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee...." The word "stranger" in this verse is the noun of the verb translated "sojourn." The beginning of this verse can be translated, "when a sojourner shall sojourn." It is significant that the Jewish translators of the Greek translation of the Old Testament known as the Septuagint translated this as, "And if any proselyte should come to you...." This is speaking of a foreigner living in Israel who desires to live as an observant Jew. If such a person wants to keep the Passover, all the males in his household (obviously including himself) must be circumcised. Then, "he shall be as one that is born in the land." The word "born" here means "native." It can be used also of plants and animals that are native to a region. So, someone who is not born as an Israelite but who is circumcised along with the males in his household is treated as a native born Israelite. Notice the warning that "no uncircumcised person" shall eat the Passover.

It is only after this explanation that God says, "One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you" (verse 49). "Homeborn" is the same word as "born" in verse 48. "Stranger that sojourneth" are the same noun and verb as "stranger shall sojourn" in verse 48. Thus, Exodus 12:49 refers only to strangers who are circumcised and thus become "as one that is born in the land" (verse 48). When a stranger was circumcised, he became an observant Jew. He was not like other foreigners. There was one law for native born Israelites and for circumcised proselytes. But the law for Israelites and proselytes was not the law for uncircumcised foreigners, as is proved by the fact—as we just read—that uncircumcised foreigners were not allowed to eat the Passover.

With this information, let's read the Sabbath command in Exodus 20:8-10: "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates." "Stranger" is the same word for "stranger" in Exodus 12:48-49. Clearly, the "stranger that is within thy gates" is referring to the circumcised proselyte/sojourner living in Israel. This person was under the same law as the native born Israelite and was therefore to keep the Sabbath.

The Law, including the 4th commandment Sabbath, was given to all who were present at Mt.Sinai which included both Israel and those who were not of Israel. The Sabbath was even given to the animals.

Exodus 20:8-10 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

The Law was restated just before the multitudes of people entered into the promised land and it was said that it was for all people, even future people.

God calls His people to be a holy nation, a peculiar people, a royal priesthood.

Exodus 19:5-6 Now if you will listen to Me and carefully keep My covenant, you will be My own possession out of all the peoples, although all the earth is Mine, and you will be My kingdom of priests and My holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to say to the Israelites.”

Right after He said this He gave the way this could happen, He gave the Ten Commandments.

He restates His desire for us today.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

To be sure enough I would keep both: Saturday and Sunday...

An just look at "Saturn" and "SUN" prefixes are so settled in western cultures because of the RCC has placed its man-made seal on modern culture.

PS

though I don´t agree with PETER¨s ideas on priesthood or things connected to kings.

Wow, what a question: Is your denomination misleading you, to answer this I would be foolish, because it would not edify anybody here, it would not edify the church or anybody there, why this type of question in the first place? If the Spirit dwells in you and you hear, and you obey, then if your denomination is misleading you, you would warn your fellow blood-bought and be out of there. That is how it works, the mechanics of Christianity, listen, learn, read, grow, shine your like or better yet, become a fully devoted follower of Christ, an imitator of Christ.

Be blessed, and for those that are ignorant, let them remain ignorant, something Paul stated in the Word.

The Law was not done away with in the New Covenant, its written on the heart.

Jeremiah 31:33-34 But this is the new covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

Hebrews 10:16-17 This is the new covenant I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws on their hearts and write them on their minds, He adds: I will never again remember their sins and their lawless acts.

The teachings of Jesus interpret the meaning and purpose of the Law and the indwelling of God's Spirit moves us to obey the Law through love for God.

John 12:48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

The Law is not to be obeyed with a meritorious attitude, but rather, as an expression of godly love.

Without God's definition of love we are left to define love ourselves and we can see what that looks like in the world today.

The Ten Commandments define godly love.

Romans 13:8-10 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

The first four commandments teach us how to express godly love towards God and the last six teach us how to express godly love towards others. If you love God you will not worship other gods, you won't use His name in vain, you use idols and you will honor the seventh day. If you love your neighbor you won't kill him, lie to him, steal from him and so on.

Keeping the commandments of God is not about earning salvation or trying to get into heaven. Keeping the commandments is about entering God's kingdom now and living by His standards of godliness and love now.

None of this can be done if the Law is done away with. Don't let Satan deceive you.

No, actually they are not...

Isa 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

This is for all time.

The New Covenant promise is to cleans us of all our sin, take away our heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh. Give us a new spirit and empower us with His Spirit to obey His Law. In this we will be His people and He will be our God. Without the Law this cannot happen.

Ezekiel 36:25-28 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.

Don't be deceived.

Did you know that there are twelve tribes in Israel and only one tribe was called the Jews? They were the tribe of Judah. Did you also know that when God created the seventh day, blessed it and made it holy there was no such thing has a Jewish person? Did you also know that when God gave the Law at Mt.Sinai there was a great mixed multitude of people there, not just the tribe of Judah? Did you also know that Jesus said the Sabbath was made for mankind, not just the tribe of Judah?

Scuba, thanks for trying!! The church has been taught these things ever since the gentiles took over leadership. You can read what the gentile Christian Church leaders said even without digging into library archives now with the net if you learn how to find reliable sites. They did this from the beginning, with Constantine making it law by a little over 325AD.

When Paul explained how God sees the Hebrews and tells us about it and what God expects of us, still many will not listen to Paul. When Acts explains in detail just what the Jews were told to do when we were given the gospel, still no one listens.

It is as if everyone makes up their mind what the bible says before they read it, and then picks out the verses that they feel can back up their positions without once understanding.

The key seems to be a misunderstanding of the role of the Hebrews that God gave them to tell the world about Him. When the Lord found that it was best to have the Hebrews step back so we followed Christ directly and didn't get it mixed up with what had become rituals that were considered by many Jews as ends in themselves rather than leads to God, the gentiles completely turned on the Jews.

We are to be circumcised in our heart led by the Holy Spirit, they had the same command and were led by the physical cutting of flesh. We are to only put what is clean in our hearts and minds led by the Holy Spirit, they were told the same, led by dietary laws. No one is seeing the sameness in this, and using it as an excuse to say not to listen to scripture of all the silly deductions to make of this.

Thanks RedTent... The people of God were led astray when we began saying the church replaced Israel. With this we developed an, us and them, mentality. There has always been one Law and one Gospel message to the whole world. God has always been reaching out to the world through Israel. We, who are not Israel, are grafted in to what God is doing through Israel. We become the Israel of God not according to the flesh. In other words, not native born to the land of Israel. Another way we begin to stray from the ways of God is when we fail to see the two aspects of God's Law. One aspect of the Law is when we obey the Law as a means to attain a right standing with God. This is where we obey the Law with a meritorious attitude. When we do this we fall from grace. The other way to view the Law is we see the Law as God's definition of love. Both these views are correct but in Christ we only live by the view that defines the law as God's definition and expression of godly love. Jesus is the end of the Law as a means to attain righteousness but He is not the end of the Law as the means to define godly love. I can guarantee you that there is not one person here who can say that breaking God's Law is an expression of love for God and man.

God does not change but there was a change in laws, Heb 7:12

In Acts 15:24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

The apostles were dealing with false teachers who were trying to bind keeping the law of Moses upon Gentile Christians. The Apostles never gave such a commandment that Gentiles must keep the law to be saved.

In Acts 21 when Paul came to Jerusalem he met with the brethren there;

And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly. And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.

Paul told them about his ministry among the Gentiles;

And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

Then the Christian brethren at Jerusalem tell Paul of the many Jews that converted to Christianity but were still zealous in keeping the law of Moses;

And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

These Jewish converts that still kept the law of Moses had heard of Paul's teachings;

And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.

Paul taught them NOT to keep the law of Moses, NOT to circumcise their children or walk after Jewish customs.

Coffman Commentary on Acts 21:20,21

In the absence of the Twelve, who presumably might have known better, the whole Jerusalem church was involved in law-keeping, being "zealous for the law of Moses." One may only be astounded at such a statement as James made here. This very James had already publicly assented with Peter and the Twelve that they would not place upon the Gentiles "a yoke" which neither themselves nor their fathers could bear; and here James is concerned for circumcision and keeping the "customs." The great error of James, the Jerusalem elders, and the majority of that church was in the supposition that God had two plans, one for Gentiles and another for Jews.

The apostolic mandate lifting law-keeping from the back of the Gentiles was also the theoretical and logical lifting of it off the backs of "all Christians"; but this had somehow been overlooked in Jerusalem. This writer can find no rational basis for supposing that James was blameless in this situation, although it was probably a blameworthiness due to ignorance of the implication of what had already been decided by the apostles, rather than of any willful disobedience.

An extenuation of the blame of those Jewish Christians in not being able to accept the abolition of the Mosaic law and all the temple services, is seen in our Lord's prophecy of the temple's destruction. The Lord knew that the hold of its forms and sacrifices would have such a force upon all the Jews, that rather than their being able to tear away from them, God would tear them away from the Jews. See reasons for God's destruction of the temple in my Commentary on Mark under Mark 13:2.

As Wesley said, "James should have told those Jewish Christians: I do not keep the law of Moses; neither does Peter; neither need any of you!"

The charges mentioned here, to the effect that Paul had persuaded Jewish Christians not to circumcise their children, was a base lie. He had even circumcised Timothy with his own hands, and it is evident that Paul had carried on no campaign of any kind as that alleged against him. However, in Paul's making circumcision and all Mosaic regulations absolutely unnecessary for salvation, he had laid the theoretical foundation for their total abandonment by all Christians.

Question: "Does God require Sabbath-keeping of Christians?"

Answer:
In Colossians 2:16-17, the apostle Paul declares, “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” Similarly, Romans 14:5 states, “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.” These Scriptures make it clear that, for the Christian, Sabbath-keeping is a matter of spiritual freedom, not a command from God. Sabbath-keeping is an issue on which God’s Word instructs us not to judge each other. Sabbath-keeping is a matter about which each Christian needs to be fully convinced in his/her own mind.

In the early chapters of the book of Acts, the first Christians were predominantly Jews. When Gentiles began to receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, the Jewish Christians had a dilemma. What aspects of the Mosaic Law and Jewish tradition should Gentile Christians be instructed to obey? The apostles met and discussed the issue in the Jerusalem council (Acts 15). The decision was, “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood” (Acts 15:19-20). Sabbath-keeping was not one of the commands the apostles felt was necessary to force on Gentile believers. It is inconceivable that the apostles would neglect to include Sabbath-keeping if it was God’s command for Christians to observe the Sabbath day.

A common error in the Sabbath-keeping debate is the concept that the Sabbath was the day of worship. Groups such as the Seventh Day Adventists hold that God requires the church service to be held on Saturday, the Sabbath day. That is not what the Sabbath command was. The Sabbath command was to do no work on the Sabbath day (Exodus 20:8-11). Nowhere in Scripture is the Sabbath day commanded to be the day of worship. Yes, Jews in Old Testament, New Testament, and modern times use Saturday as the day of worship, but that is not the essence of the Sabbath command. In the book of Acts, whenever a meeting is said to be on the Sabbath, it is a meeting of Jews and/or Gentile converts to Judaism, not Christians.

When did the early Christians meet? Acts 2:46-47 gives us the answer, “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” If there was a day that Christians met regularly, it was the first day of the week (our Sunday), not the Sabbath day (our Saturday) (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2). In honor of Christ’s resurrection on Sunday, the early Christians observed Sunday not as the “Christian Sabbath” but as a day to especially worship Jesus Christ.

Is there anything wrong with worshipping on Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath? Absolutely not! We should worship God every day, not just on Saturday or Sunday! Many churches today have both Saturday and Sunday services. There is freedom in Christ (Romans 8:21; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 5:1). Should a Christian practice Sabbath-keeping, that is, not working on Saturdays? If a Christian feels led to do so, absolutely, yes (Romans 14:5). However, those who choose to practice Sabbath-keeping should not judge those who do not keep the Sabbath (Colossians 2:16). Further, those who do not keep the Sabbath should avoid being a stumbling block (1 Corinthians 8:9) to those who do keep the Sabbath. Galatians 5:13-15 sums up the whole issue: “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.”
