I ordered pizza for dinner, and I can't eat it. Anyone want a pizza? I don't think my kids slimed it or anything...

That all depends on what kind of toppings there are. I will cut off the slimed parts and feed it to the dog.

Talking to my mom is both awesome and seriously irritating. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with her this evening, mostly talking about the progress I've made on getting that group started (which I've done a whole lot of nothing with today...). That topic lead into the list of things I'll need before I can go much further with this, which somehow lead into her offering to let me and my kids move into my brother's house.

...

A few short days ago, she was saying that she and my step-dad were wanting to buy a house for me to live in, which I said was kind of absurd, because I already have a roof over my head. Now, my grandparents are selling their house, and my brother and his wife are buying it, and the house they live in now belongs to my parents so they all think moving me in there would be a great idea.

I said I'd think about it.

And then my mom mentioned that there's a woman she works with that she wants to put me in touch with- a single mom of 5 or 6 kids who heard a little about my idea and wants to help. So, that's pretty awesome. My mom said she'd get me the woman's number so we could meet sometime, but for some reason she felt compelled to add, "And she's um, she's a pretty BIG girl, I just wanted you to know so you weren't surprised by it or anything...".

*facepalm*

But! Aside from minor ridiculosity, things are working out really well. Yaaay....and stuff...!

the whole " big people " thing came up in chat tonight as well.... people were talking about not understanding why a good looking woman would adore her fat unattractive husband.... he must have money or something..... * shake my head* I'll just bite my tongue. And people wonder why fat people tend to feel so unworthy of love..

I'm not gonna keep on ...every once in a while this comes up and really bothers me, but hey its life isn't it ?

I can't excuse the attitude people have about others who are over weight. Unless a person has been down that road themselves, they really should shush. I'm all for freedom of speech, I value people's opinions and all that...but there are some things people shouldn't be running their mouths about.

I've had this discussion with my mom several times over the years- about not judging people based on their weight- and not assuming ridiculous things about them.

*sigh*

Sort of on the same subject, there's a book called "She's Come Undone" (anybody heard of/read it?) and while there are some parts that are kinda foul (language, subject matter), it's a very...captivating fictional story about a girl who struggles with her weight her whole life, and the causes behind it, and it's written in such a raw, emotional way that I couldn't put it down and UGH the number of times I cried reading it...anyway, it gave me a new perspective on how over weight people are treated (gosh, and I AM over weight myself and it was still an eye opener).

Now I've lost what my point was with bringing that up, so I'll just go with another *hug*

My dad can be that way with weight. He's naturally tall and thin. He has a tendency to point out if someone is pretty big, especially if we're at a restaurant. It always irritates me. I mean, he doesn't make fun or anything like that. He just feels obligated to point out and comment. Funny thing is he's 81 and constantly worried about his own weight. He's around 6'2" and 185-ish. So he's a telephone pole. But if he puts on 5 pounds he goes on a diet like it's the worst thing in the world.
He drives me nuts with all of it, though. I don't remember if he was like that when i was younger or not.

Lol sorry to make depressing comments on your post. I don't get bothered a lot or easily... just every once in a while it hits me and tonight just so happened to be one of those nights. I'll have to look that book up...I wouldn't mind reading it.

You don't have anything to apologize for, silly. You don't have to be cheery and happy all the time, we love you even if you feel like chucking cupcakes at people's heads :)

And in case you really do want to read that book, the author is Wally Lamb.

pipp, i heard part of that tonight, and i cringed as well. it bothered ME too.

honestly, i don't think people have any clue how they sound. sometimes people will say things to be funny, not recognizing how they are stepping on people's toes, either. : (
