oh whatever dude. you keep telling yourself that stuff. i'm not buying.

"guys can't do anything right"? go read the question again. it's a question designed to solicit opinions about a hypothetical scenario.

it sounds like the only one who can't be content with the actions of an entire gender does is you. : p
but it is true, you women are never happy. guy proposes its bad, guy don't propose he is bad. its a catch 22 I don't see why guys even bother

Hey it's better than being sold off for goats by my father. Proposal? Young girls wish they had a proposal back then. Rather than being sold off to the 50 year old village drunk cus he has money. Don't be so picky about the proposal, could be worse :p
You're right. The proposal doesn't really mean anything if the marriage stinks afterwards. :)

I almost got sold lol. My dad was so angry with me when I was with my ex he demanded my ex to come pick me up and pay 8,000$ for me that night. My mom on the other hand was so sweet. She begged my dad not to sell me off like an animal. Then later we had a meeting about it with my ex there, who was trying to calm things down and my mom said the sweetest thing to me that I will never forget. She said, "Even if you pay a million dollars it would never be enough..." Then we both started crying our eyes out and the men were just stumped lolol. I still get emotional every time I remember that moment. I think it was one of the first times I realized how much my mom really loved me.

My dad likes to joke that he paid 8 cows and 2000 Philippine pesos for my mama.

At least, I hope it's a joke.

O__O

On that note, when my fiance asked for my parents' blessing, my dad broke the ice by saying "ok, so do you have the money?" And my fiance's dad said "oh yeah, son, remember: no money, no talk".

This thread has been enlightening. While it's unlikely i'll ever get married.. and if i somehow did it's not likely i'd do a public proposal, but still seeing the responses from the viewpoint of the ladies was interesting and something i'd not thought of before.

They don't like that term sold... It's more like a dowry. Depends how traditional the families are. In my case, it'll depend because my dad is more traditional and my mom more modern. I think if I find a nice christian guy that they approve of more than likely it'll just be a christian marriage with no payments required. :)

Not really, depending on what profession you're in. If a doctor then I want one that gives fist pumps. My doctor just makes sure I'm out of the office once I pay the fee for visiting. xP

I'm a nurse. :). Depends on the patients. I tend to hug females and fist bump males. And in hard times I hold their hands.

A doctor that fist bumps? That's be awesome xP

That's what good moms do best, they give love. Your mom sounds wonderful.
