Wow. We all seem to have quite different tastes so far. I love C.S. Lewis' non-fiction but for some reason I don't own any of his (I only his fiction).

Most of my collection is academic from being at a Christian university and all. A few I was intrigued to study on my own (imitation of Christ, CS Lewis, and the Messianic Jewish books)

Clive Cussler is awesome :D (but hardly Christian non fiction :p )

Arelene: the divinity code is an interesting title, is it good?
Well, it looks like it's going to be something very interesting but it's just a dreams interpreting book. It was given to me early last year by a friend. But with this one, they actually have scripture to back up why they think something might mean something, and base it on content and symbolic themes from the bible. Admittedly, I haven't had a good look in that book for awhile.

Here is my non-fiction library (actually, I only have a handful of fictional books anyway, and although I enjoyed all of them, I'm still not a big fan of fiction itself).

The categories of books my library falls into are Sermons, Christian Living, Church History (including biographies), Theology, and Apologetics.

Some of my favorite authors in my library are A.W. Tozer, A.W. Pink, C.S. Lewis, Ravi Zacharias, William Lane Craig, J.P. Moreland, Martin Luther & John Calvin, and especially the Puritans (such as Thomas Watson, Richard Baxter, and John Owen).

My most treasured books (after the Bible) are my five volume set of Charles Spurgeon's sermons (see bottom of photo). I highly recommend his sermons for Christ-centered preaching, both heart-warming encouragement and soul-distubring exhortation, biblical wisdom, and even for poetic beauty (some of his phrases are almost "Shakespearean" in the way Spurgeon preached).

Another sermon set I would recommend is G. Campbell Morgan's five volume set from his years at Westminster Chapel, England (that's the blue set of books in the photo in between the two Griffin book ends - and no, I do not believe in ancient creature mythology, my brother bought me those book ends!!!).

P.S. Please ignore the Chunks Ahoy cookie bag on my first shelf................. It came free with the shelf when I bought it (or if you don't believe that)............. that's the food I feed the Griffins, it's the only thing they'll eat (or if you don't believe that).................. okay I'm fresh out of excuses!!! I'm going to go eat a cookie!!!

The Christian University I attended is centralized in the Anabaptist tradition- particularly Mennonites. Don't have to be Mennonite to go there of course, they have several courses on the tradition tho.

I traced my Dads mom side of the family (Millers) to when they came from Europe to the US on the Charming Nancy with Jacob Hosteler in 1736 they arrived in Phila Pa and then moved to Somerset PA where they lived till she left in 1947. We have Amish and Mennonites intermarried her great Grandfather was a pastor of a Dunkerd Church in near by Bear Creek Maryland and they became Brethren So thats a Church of the Brethren now and still standing sort of it was rebuilt after a fire but thats where the family commentary is. When she came to York the planted the York Grace Brethren church.

One of my greatest flea market finds is an Amish Bible, in German from 1922 that I found in Cumberland Maryland.

Hey StoneThrower, I would definitely recommend you begin reading your book "Meet The Puritans" (which I also have, you can see it on my last shelf photo, the big baby-blue book third in from the left after Steve Lawson's book and Jonathan Edwards book). Each mini-biography in the book is very informative on the lives of each Puritan, and each bio ends with a listing of some of the books that each Puritan wrote.

You mentioned "To bad about Pink though", by that did you mean how A.W. Pink spent the last few years of his life in isolation from the rest of the world? If that's what you meant, then I would agree it was unfortunate as well. I don't know the full story of why he did that, but I hope to find out whenever I can get my hands on Iain Murray's book "The Life of Arthur W. Pink", which I think may be the only biography ever written about him.

^My library. Sorry the formatting is so obnoxious. I copied and pasted it straight from the Excel spreadsheet.

Oops, there were a couple of inadvertent boldings/underlinings of books that I thought were categories but ahh well. You get the point :p

Rather than make a long list I will mention several categories.
1. Bibles in several languages. I have a beautiful reprint of the 1611 KJV - I've had that for 20 years. I have the RSV, NRSV, ESV. Several copies of Luther's German translation. I probably go to my copy of Luther's Bible with Apocrypha more than the others. As far as English, I guess I prefer the RSV. I have the Bible in Russian and Old Church Slavonic but I don't read those very well. Also, a Yiddish translation of the O. T.
2. Study Bibles. I have the Oxford Study Bible in RSV and NRSV. I like the Lutheran Study Bible (It is ESV and the LCMS publishes this study Bible). I like everything about it except it pushes Young Earth Creationism, which I don't subscribe to. I like the Orthodox Study Bible.
3. Language studies - mostly Greek. Textbooks, concordances, etc. Numerous copies of the N.T. in Greek, also the Septuagint.
4. Theology. Most of C. S. Lewis. Most of Bonhoeffer. A lot by Luther. A lot of Lutheran books, a fair amount of Anglican and Roman Catholic books.
5. Church history/Theology. A lot of the writings of the Church Fathers. Mostly English translations.
6. Septuagint studies. I have some books about the ancient Greek translation of the Old Testament. A couple of copies of the Greek Septuagint. Several translations of the Septuagint in English and German.

I like the way you read. Some great authors and theologians in that collection!
Thanks :) There's a book sale that happens every couple of months or so here where they sell donated books for $0.50/lb. It's so great! So especially with them being that cheap, I try to pick up books not just books by authors I like, but books that might be outside of my own theological beliefs just to know what's out there and to get a different perspective on things. I don't read nearly as much as I should, though.
