I know right. The scene with "Say, do Angels also bleed......blue?", "No acutally yellow." I had to control myself really hard since I sat in the train.

Dean Koontz has been my favourite writer since when he was known as Dean R. Koontz! Love his Brother Odd series. Last book I read was The Fault in Our Stars and it was because my 16 year old sister actually refused to speak with me until I did.

Dean Koontz is brilliant! I haven't read much of his stuff yet, but I plan on reading more. I've read two of the Odd books and I've got the third one to go. I think Odd and Stormy's love was one of the more realistic and interesting romances I've ever read in fiction. Nothing cheesy about their love!

i was pretty miffed by the movie adaptions treatment of faromir. TWO characters in the entire saga aren't tempted by the one ring, sam & faromir, but the movie treated faromir like he was any other power-hungry human. faromir was already such a tragic character, but the movie's depiction tragically misrepresented his heart.

ignoring the marriage (*ahem*) the other big problem i had was the treatment of dwarves in general as the butt of jokes, especially the 'race' while tracking down the urukai-kidnapped hobbits. the dwarf on foot nearly outran the elf on horseback in the narrative, and it wasn't out of some comical fear of horses that he refused to ride, but pride in his dwarfhood. turning them into laughing-stocks in the film instead of the proud & noble race depicted in the books is an offense to dwarves under every mountain.

.
uhuh. It is very annoying it is

yeah it kinda was. It's total brain fluff, and the book's so much better, but it was good to see it on TV

The Odd books are a bit weird. I loved the characters in the first book and the premise was great but I just didn't care much for the actual story (Elvis does nothing for me). With the second book, I enjoyed the story far more but the characters not as much, save Odd, of course.

Wow. I mean it looks good, but just different from how I imagined it to be. I guess I expected something less glamorous, something more normal (or low-key), something more Southern.

Been a long time since i read the books, but from what i remember i expected something darker, and yes, low key as well. But it is Hollywood trying to make it more broadly appealing, so it's to be expected.

Yes, darker and more unconventional. But yes, you're right about Hollywood wanting to make it more mainstream.

The Odd books were humorous and interesting. I loved them. The movie... well, the quirky humor in the books just doesn't translate well to the screen, I think. I felt like a lot was lost.

Right now I'm reading "How To Be On CC For Four Years And Still Remain Relatively Normal"

So far, its not helping. I want my money back!!!

And when I get my money back, I'm going to buy the book "Let CC Help You Embrace Abnormality And Love Every Minute of It"
