I think they are both bad programs. Totally inappropriate and immoral. Your eyes are the gateway to your soul...you watch that sort of thing, it's going to effect you spiritually/your relationship with God. The devil wants to lure people in and he will do this by making it seem harmless, or funny. But it's not harmless, quite the opposite.
I was watching some programs that I knew I shouldn't be watching, they effected my relationship with God. I kept trying to tell myself and God that they were harmless, but found myself having the same thoughts as worldly people have, so had to stop watching them. Not harmless at all.

Hope that helps :)

I am by far not an authority on what is right and wrong ... but I do have a pretty solid opinion on this. I think that you should be able to watch whatever you want to watch and whatever you find entertaining as long as it does not interfere with your personal relationship with Jesus. If you find that these shows are making you lose your moral standing with yourself or others around you .. then you know what to do. If you are able to watch it and see the humor that was intended in it, then great .. enjoy it and don't feel guilty. I think this is a good stance to take in a lot of things .. we cant shelter ourselves from everything out in the world .. so once again, if it does not affect your relationships with the people around you and Jesus, then go for it .. have some laughs. I think the shows are funny .. but I understand that they are just that .. fictitious shows.

South park is witty, but you can find wit in other places without the coarseness

*yawn* I'm finding that this thread has gone beyond a debate with all the verbal thrashing. Anyway, I don't know about other people but I'm finding it more and more pointless to participate in many of society's activities regardless of whether some of those activities are morally right or wrong from a biblical perspective.

To the individuals who expressed confusion on whether they should stop watching South Park/Family Guy, if you begin to earnestly pursue God and do things for him out of joy and thanksgiving, you will discover that many of the things you used to enjoy will soon be "dead" to you regardless of whether it is right or wrong. At that point, it won't matter whether watching these shows is right or wrong because you wouldn't care anyway. You will be too busy enjoying yourself with the work of the Holy Spirit - there is greater excitement and true fulfillment in that as corny as it may sound.

Umm Maddog, to answer some of your posts from a few pages back, it would be a sin to watch the news or a movie about Jesus if you took joy, made light of, laughed at the rapes, murders, abuses, and all the other vile things happening in this world.

In response to someone else who said just because Jesus wouldn't do it doesn't mean that we can't, I say, do you not know that He dwells within you, if ofcourse He actually does. So subjecting Him to the vulgarity of these things is absolutely offensive to the spirit. God hates sin with a perfect hatred, so much so that He crushed His only Son for it.

Would you like scripture to point out that you should be setting your eyes on?

Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Math 6: 22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Psalm 101:3
I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me.

Am I missing something or does Jesus love all of us sinners unconditionally... and I do mean ALL of us SINNERS because WE ALL ARE! Or does his love only go to the people who sin in certain ways? Is there a scale of how much one can sin before he cuts us off?

Lets not preach about how others should and should not do things in this world and loose sight of our own relationship God, because that itself would be considered a sin too.

As we grow closer to Jesus some of our sins will fall away naturally .. but if there is one person here that can say they are without sin ... then I will listen to THEIR preachings and uses of biblical passages to prove an ultimately irrelevant point anyway. Until then I will pray and do what feels right between me and Jesus and leave the judging to those who are supposed to do it ... when that time comes.

God Bless and stay strong,

-George

How do I feel about South Park or, Family Guy:
It is definatly a adult show geared more toward adult situations and adult comedy. And I myself like watching family guy. Even though animated. But south park is some thing else...that's all I have to say about that.
Have a blessed day. and feel free to talk to dianna.

We have already discussed this. If you know it is a sin, why do you continue to roll in it? Jesus told us to repent and change from our old ways. So why would defy him by continuing to indulge in our sin? This is basically just looking at what Jesus did on the cross for us and saying, meh, whatever. I'll just continue to sin and sin, I know he'll forgive me. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Right. It's not intrinsically immoral to witness immoral things. Therefore, there's nothing intrinsically immoral about watching South Park.

Climbing I don't think this could have been worded any better. Inappropriate and immoral are well said here. What you watch on television in today's society most certainly has an impact on our spiritual growth. Spiritual growth as a Christian is most certainly a BIG thing and an important thing for us Christians. So for me, family guy and south park aren't part of my television entertainment. Now John Hagee and Joyce Meyer on the other hand I'll sit and listen to either of the two on any given day and take in as much of the word as I can get lol.

I guess this is only if we are taking the fact that watching this program is a sin. Once again this is all between ourselves and God to work out in the end. Something important comes to mind though ...
Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. (Romans 14:22b)
Most of us know what that is all about and if not it is a good lesson to learn for everyone. Google it and you will find great views on that. I will leave it up to you to figure out exactly what was meant in all of that .. because once again I am not here to teach and make one feel bad for their decisions .. that is between us and God. But since you have brough up the point of people looking at Jesus on the cross and saying well.. hold on here is your quote "This is basically just looking at what Jesus did on the cross for us and saying, meh, whatever." I ask you this .. are you without sin? Are you pure of doing the same sin more than once in a knowing manner? If you can say yes to either of those .. then maybe you should be telling us what happens after the book of revelations?
I think my point here is that ... we can all have out own opinions on our relationship with God, Lets not judge others and their actions... I don't think God needs any help there .. and as a matter of fact he told us he didn't want any help either.
Remember Matthew 7: Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye Judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

God Bless everyone and have a safe time.
