So question. I'm making a caramel cake with maple icing and garnished with bacon ..... does it sound good or gross? Just be honest... I can take it.

I honestly think it would taste good, but for some reason the idea of putting bacon on sweets has always put me I think just because it's like...taking two unhealthy things and putting them together. But my impression has always been that most people love that kind of thing, so I would say to go for it and try it out :)

P.S. I probably do this (putting multiple unhealthy things together) way more often than I even realize, so I don't know why bacon combined with sweets stands out to me so much.

So I'm wondering when I started being the free advice service for people. There's the poster child for gullible who is always asking my advice on her most recent life situations when she comes over to help me with work. It's an acceptable give and take, but usually the things she does are so stupid that I just want to face palm. And she probably isn't happy with me because I won't tell her what to do, just give her some ideas of basic common sense things ( if the co-worker who lied about you to your boss tells you to keep quiet when the boss asks you about it you shouldn't follow her advice or if it sounds too good to be true it probably is). And then friendly neighborhood stalker ( a name given because of our first conversation and no actual stalking is going on, this is a friend) seems to suddenly have a lot to say about his life in e-mails after basically silence for 6 months. He's thinking about taking a job in an area where the towns have populations of 500 or less and the weather is dangerous and asks what I think. Um I think it's weird that you are suddenly so chatty, and I thought you had a job. Am I your fallout girl? Did things go bad and you aren't telling anyone again? When are you going to stop trying to fix everything for everyone else no matter how messed up and start actually taking care of yourself (or even just believing that you have value and weren't made just to be thrown under the bus for everyone)?

Sometimes I think I find too much of my identity in being the problem solver, being useful, and fixing things. That sounds like another problem I need to solve :p But sometimes it would be nice if people made the effort to be around me just for fun stuff, not the one sought out for problems. Then again I'm not so sure I do fun well, aside from humorous remarks. Aaaaccckk, another problem that needs solving.:p

On the bright side, it is my birthday tomorrow, and since today was our day off my roomie and I went to the water park. That was fun and slightly sunburning.

I used to take it as well. My friend had found it in these little packets kind of like fast food ketchup packets. And it came out kind of like a paste/gel. It was orange flavored as well. I don't eat fish or seafood, so i couldn't tolerate a strong fish flavor, but this didn't have much of it. The orange flavor was pretty strong. It's been years now, so i don't remember the brand, but might want to look around for something like that. It was pretty easy to take.
i'm pretty sure what you're referring to is coromega omega 3 supplement, and you're right, there's no hint of fish in those. while i no longer take them, i did for years.

I bought Liquid Omega-3 Fish Oil today, cus I hate swallowing oversized capsules. I bought the one that said 'natural orange flavour' and thought hmm...orange. Well worth the extra money for the better taste to mask the fishy taste. WELL! Let me tell you! The taste is full-on fish with hint of orange flavour. -_-
fish oil capsules are THE WORSE. my advice is to switch to krill oil, which doesn't have any fish flavor, and is far easier to assimilate than fish oil. and it is rich in among the most potent of antioxidants, astaxanthin, which we are only beginning to understand. krill oil used to be a more expensive supplement, but competition has driven down prices and made it far more reasonable, especially if you shop around (read: buy it online).

So question. I'm making a caramel cake with maple icing and garnished with bacon ..... does it sound good or gross? Just be honest... I can take it.
ok, if i were you, i'd candy the bacon before sprinkling it on, rather than sprinkling plain bacon on.

or someday when you have some time, make some bacon caramels, and they'd work nicely as a confectionery topping as well.

Cinder, I would love to get to know you and be around you for fun. :)

Pipp, I've never tried bacon with sweets so I'm unsure if I would like that... Kinda like them separated I guess? Try it and let us know :) or maybe you could do a trial first.

Sidenote... A few of you may have heard that I've been looking for a home church and I'm gonna give this one church a shot and see if that is where God wants me to be... But I just wanna say, by my surprise, I have already found my church family and in a place I least expected it. Here. I really just want to thank everyone from the bottom if my heart, genuinely, for just being the loving people that you are and allowing me to be a part of your lives. Thank you for being my christian family. I mean it! *hugs for everyone*

I hate this point in packing stuff...when all that's left is random odds and ends, and things I still need. Because it turns into a jumbled mess quickly thrown into boxes in the morning before people get here to help.

I dreamed last night that instead of carrying everything down the stairs, I just threw it all over the railing and it bounced off a trampoline and into a truck.

So tempting to try that.

Why are people such people? Why does everyone feel entitled to give their opinion? Why do some impose on others while inadvertently judging them? All everyone does is push everyone else else away. Why is that so many miss the big picture? Why get angry when they're just trying to help? Your perspective is almost certainly not the right one, for goodness sake stop and look around, pay attention. What? You say you are? Your attitude doesn't prove it, who are you trying fool? Maybe I can't read your heart, but I can see right through you and I know others can too. Why you are getting angry? Calm down, you're not a child, I just want to help, I care okay? I'm not trying to hurt you or to be a smart alack or say that I'm better than you, why are you walking away? Don't you get that you're just going in a circle? You're in the same place as everyone else, why can't you see that!? What's it gonna take huh!? It's right it front of your face... Please, please just listen. Fine I see, so that's how it is. I'll still gonna try to convince you in some way even if you go... because it doesn't have to be the way it is now. Just know that you're not as safe as you think, you're not as wise as you think, you're not as strong as you think, you're not doing what you think you're doing. I'll pour my heart out for you, whether you want me to or not, my prayers will follow you wherever you go whether you want them to or not. Even if you never see me again I'll be here if want to talk to, to befriend, to confide in, to borrow strength from, to give if you need something. I hate what you're doing, I hate it so much, but I'll still be here for you. Whether I know you or not doesn't matter. So long...

If I liked maple, I would probably like this. I also gonna suggest you candy the bacon. If this were a caramel frosting, I would eat three pieces...if I were doing desserts right now...*le sigh*

Only 2 more glorious hours then THEN home. I would love to only have to work 4 days a week, and in the evenings. Once I am done school, get employed at a hospital, make $17.00hr roughly to start, work a few afternoons or evenings preferably, live in an apartment near the hospital, or rental home with others, pay down my loans, hopefully get a cat. Take it easy. If my car breaks down then I can walk to work cus I'll be near by. The area that I am thinking of living in is full of young adults, small shops, hip restaurants, coffee shops. Grassroots stuff. Community is big. My church is near by.

at thrift store while the person I give direct support to is doing his volunteer job.

a little kid, barely out if toddlerhood is playing hide and seek with his dad. It's a joy to watch.

I browsed a bit. I like the random gagets in the housewares section. I keep looking for one of those brownie pans that has the little maze-like trenches so that every piece is a "side piece." Now THAT'S a gadget that makes sense!

Instead, I saw "stuffing holder," a wire contraption that is inserted into the turkey cavity and holds the stuffing intact. I didn't realize that this was such a problem or a great need until today. Apparantly, people's Thanskgivings have been ruined because they have a hard time getting the stuffing out of the bird. The device removes all the stuffing neatly, so you can put it in a separate container.

The box says "You will never have to spoon the stuffing out of your turkey again!" which I thought was kind of funny and dirty because I am a sicko

I've been keeping the ladies forum updated on this but I'm going to share it again here because I'm so excited and happy XD

A week ago I was browsing the internet looking for wedding dresses in my budget. This is hard because...my entire budget for the dress, alterations, and the veil was $200. Most girls I talked to said this was near impossible -- but I'm determined to stick to my budget. After looking at several other websites, I tried eBay, and I looked for dresses under $90. Very few options came up, and most of them were used dresses bought back in the 80's. Finally, I found it. A used designer gown being auctioned off at a starting bid of $55. I looked at the description and read that it was altered to fit the previous bride...who happens to be my size and height, AND the veil was included for free.

I went to to place a bid, but noticed she didn't ship to Alaska. I messaged her, asking if she'd consider shipping to Alaska if I offered to pay the extra shipping charges. She kindly cooperated and edited her shipping preferences to allow Alaska. **

As the auction was closing, I was so paranoid that someone would outbid me at the last second, but I guess not to many brides are in the market for used dresses altered to a height of only 5'1", because I won!

The he dress just arrived today. My dad actually had to get into his truck and chase down the mailman because he just left a note saying the package arrived instead of actually getting out and giving us the package. I tried it on with a pair of heels...and it fits. Perfectly. Zero alterations needed. And the veil is beautiful.

So, I have a dress. I have a veil. I need no alterations. The grand total cost, including shipping, came out to $142.

It feels like a miracle. Jesus might as well have picked it himself.

** ps- this is not the same eBay seller I previously mentioned who didn't know Alaska was part of America. :p
