Advice on sister's graduation gift!

Wow.....I feel so bad for you! That's go to be heartbreaking for you having her be on that path right now.
The only thing you can give her that she will probably use cause she has to is body wash of some kind. Think of what flavors or scents she might like and buy a package of several different ones, like the same scent but the lotion, etc. Can't go wrong with that and we all need soap. This way when she uses it hopefully it will remind her that it was you who gave it to her and I will pray she will walk in her sister's footsteps. God Bless and good luck

Dr Seuss' Oh The Places You'll Go...it would be great if you got it signed by family or old teachers, but its an appropriate "grad themed" story.
Other ideas...since she's 17/18ish: perfume, simple jewelry, a nice dress or an outfit she can wear to a job interview, tickets to come see you by train (usually significantly cheaper than air travel)
I'm not a big fan of giving cash (I'd sooner throw money in a brokerage account in her name over cash. She can learn to invest if she's made no other plans for her future.) I like to put more thought into the occasion and what the receiver would find useful or meaningful. Since a high school graduation kind of marks a transition into adulthood, I would think of gifts that speak to that.

I like this! A nice purple bible! She may put it to the side, but the Word of God would be in her home....she may look at it, we can pray she will! Get her what you, what God wants her to have. Stand firm. It's the Word, it's the love of Christ that will bring her out from the darkness and it is He that will sustain and grow the seeds....that have been planted. We need to water them!

Warning.. the following may come off as a bit rude.. but you just have to see it from my point of view (if possible):
My younger sister is graduating from high school in a few weeks. When I graduated I got a book or two and a good chunk of money (that I saved and later bought a car). I won't be able to make it to her graduation sadly, because we just bought a house, have our first car payment, have a baby and live about 13 hrs away. Anyway, I need some ideas on what to send her for graduation since I don't want to send her money or a gift card.
I don't want to send money because.. Even though its not my life.. She will spend it on: tattoos, piercings, gauges/plugs, lingerie-type clothing that she actually wears in public and/or "modeling" for sketchy characters, and/or cigarettes. I don't agree with any of those things and will always see her as my little sister.. So I don't want to help condone that lifestyle.
What are some good gift ideas for high school grads that aren't planning on going to college? My budget is maxed out around $50. Please help!

Teens are really hard to buy for so I feel your pain...I also understand being tight on money. When my sister graduated I got her a starbucks gift card cause she loves coffee. Does she like to journal or write? Maybe buy her a purple journal (write her a little note on the inside cover) and a small gift card to starbucks or something (cant go wrong with coffee). Hope this sorta helps

Make her a Video on Windows live Movie Maker with old pictures...It is really simple, you can burn it right to a CD and get cheap copies of the burned CD at Walmart , Sams Club or a local Drug Store for a few dollars...I did this for my son and it was the best gift he could have received. You can even add music to it.

I think a nice piece of jewellery is a nice gift. When my niece graduated from high school, my sister got her a really beautiful necklace from Tiffany's. It was a silver necklace with a silver key (with some turquoise on it) and said "Here's the key to your future." A little corny But I thought that was a really sweet and sentimental gift. I have already done some research for you, have a look at the link i given for women jewellery
My only other suggestion would be a nice watch. Maybe Fossil or Michael Kors (I know that's what my daughter and her friends are loving these days)

Or you could also get her a cat. Cats are pretty independent and it wouldn't be as much of a burden for her. Plus they can live in a small apt in the city. The only downfall is the litter box...but if she keeps on top of it its not too bad....plus if she goes on vacation cats are pretty good at being home alone....although they can be destructive with their claws...maybe have it declawed for her.
