The issue is does your works save you or does Jesus save you?

Anyways, may God bless you.
And please be well.
Per my last post BOTH Jesus and my obedient works save. Jesus will NOT save me without obedience, 2 Thess 1:8. Yet my obedience without Christ cannot save me either. So it takes a combination of both Christ's grace and my obedience.

It has NEVER been an "either-or" issue with me as you keep asking...salvation is not either Christ or works......it takes BOTH.

SeaBass and Jason0047, You BOTH will not learn the order. plan of salvation; "For be GRACE are you saved by FAITH unto WORKS". SeaBass, you keep putting works before grace. Jason, you don't require works with faith, both as the Gift of Grace. Sinners have no desire or will power to believe or to obey, until God saves them by His power and love. Love to all, Hoffco

The Scripture makes it either/or.
"by grace through faith, not of works."

Seabass, there is not room in the universe for 2 saviors -- Christ will not share the stage with you.

The only obedience that saves is obedience to this command:

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved!

There is none other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. That name is not Seabass!

"understand that I AM he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, AM YHWH; and besides me there is no savior."

Amazed to see you post that Hoffco. Did you make a typo?

The only requirement on man's part is believe/faith:

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved.

Not Catholic but I am a member of the church of Christ.
SeaBass, I don't see any sign of such membership, for you deny the gospel. The Church of Christ is all who trust Him as Savior, not a denomination.

Since works save, that is why James could say works justify and Paul says "obedience unto righteousness" Do works alone justify? No. For salvation is a COMBINATION of God's grace and man's obedient working faith, Eph 2:8.
Eph 2 says not such thing. Man's responsibility is faith alone, "not of works" the text says. Grace is what a man needs who has evil works. Unbelievers (like you) have plenty of evil works, but that is the only kind of works that they have.

Both Paul & James speak of believing/faith being the only thing prior to the unsaved man's justification. James goes on & speaks of how after one is saved, one's works do justify (declare righteous) -- but they do not save.

You have no concept of salvation or SAvior at all. The Savior takes the one who trusts Him and changes his nature so that the saved man may then do good works.

Atwood, you are ALL wet.!
OUR GREAT SAVIOR, does NOT need our Faith nor Works to save us. SAVING faith and saving works are the RESULT of God's saving us by GRACE alone. Jesus said "no one comes to Me , unless the father DRAW him. DRAW =Force. Jesus saves all infants that die, without them believing or working. Jesus does the SAME for adults. AS a result, we believe and obey for salvation, from the human side of salvation, we must repent trust and obey, faithalone is of the Devil, Love , Hoffco

Now Hoffco, How can I be wrong when I asked you to prove the force? Now look back at your post & notice how you stick in a bunch of capital letters, but give NO Bible proof for anything. Dear Hoffco, it is not your word that convicts, but the Word of God.

If you have proof for force, again, I ask you to post it. Prove that "draw" means force.

And if you have proof for your infants' theory, kindly post that one also.

Now since faith/belief alone is repeated over & over in the Bible (for man's responsibility), it cannot be of the devil.

Do I need to post the proof for this one again to you? I will add some at the end.

You posted,
Jesus saves all infants that die, without them believing or working. Jesus does the SAME for adults. . . . we must repent trust and obey,
Posting "obey" looks like a contradiction of "without . . . working."

Repentance = metanoia = change of mind. As salvation is offered so many times only for faith/believe, the only repentance which saves is change of mind from non-belief to belief. The only obedience which saves is obeying:

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved.

1 John 5:10-12

Ps 37:5-6

Acts 26:18b

that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.

Rom 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith.

Rom 3:21-30

But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; 24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 whom God set forth to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God; 26 for the showing, I say, of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus. 27 Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith. 28 We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yea, of Gentiles also: 30 if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.

Rom 4:1ff

:1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not toward God. 3 For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh, the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but as of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believes on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned for righteousness. 6 Even as David also pronounceth blessing upon the man, unto whom God reckoneth righteousness apart from works, 7 saying,
Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not reckon sin.

9 Is this blessing then pronounced upon the circumcision, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say, To Abraham his faith was reckoned for righteousness. 10 How then was it reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision: 11 and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might be reckoned unto them; 12 and the father of circumcision to them who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham which he had in uncircumcision. 13 For not through the law was the promise to Abraham or to his seed that he should be heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they that are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of none effect: 15 for the law worketh wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there transgression. 16 For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace; to the end that the promise may be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all 17 (as it is written, A father of many nations have I made thee) before him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not, as though they were. 18 Who in hope believed against hope, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And without being weakened in faith he considered his own body now as good as dead (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; 20 yet, looking unto the promise of God, he wavered not through unbelief, but waxed strong through faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 Wherefore also it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.

Rom 5:1-2
Being therefore justified by faith, let us have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand; and let us boast in hope of the glory of God.
Rom 9:30:
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who followed not after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith: but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling; even as it is written,
Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence:
And he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

Rom 10:4ff

For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believes. For Moses writeth that the man that doeth the righteousness which is of the law shall live thereby. But the righteousness which is of faith saith thus, Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down:) or, Who shall descend into the abyss? (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.

Gal 2:15-16
We being Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

I read it that those that put their faith in Christ's sacrifice cannot be plucked out of his hand unless they lose faith.
We who are saved are to repent and the fruit of our repentance should show in our deeds and love for one another. We still sin and with the help of the Holy Spirit we deal with sins in our lives and are only made perfect once we are resurrected.
Christians still have free choice and there are those who, for one or other reason, choose after having received this understanding to reject Christ completely.
The folk who reject Christ's salvation after appearing to have truly received it make some of the most formidable atheists.
It is argued that they never truly received it in the first place but I find this hard to believe.

No. I said works always follows a true faith. For faith without works is dead.
I believe God does the good work within you. No works present, means God is not present in your life.
Works are not done for salvation. Works always follows salvation. No salvation. No works. It's not works and tben salvation. That would be backwards.

Where did you get your faith from ? How come some gets true faith and others get dead faith, God gives every man the measure of faith. As you say works follow true faith. So man has no say in the matter God gives him true faith which produces works. God gives all men faith so does he give some dead faith? Since no works follow? If God gave all men faith which is automatically followed by good works then we are living in Utopia .Salvation is not finished yet we are being saved as we speak....those who endure to the end shall be saved, is that when your works will follow?

First, Romans 12:3 does not say that every man is given a measure of faith (meaning unbelievers). If they had faith, they would believe. The word "every man" in Romans 12:3 is in context to only believers. For if you were to read the chapter, it does not split and talk of unbelievers before or after verse 3. The surrounding verses are addressed to believers. How so? 2 Thessalonians 3:2 says, "all men have not faith." For without faith, it is impossible to please Him. In other words, if all men had a measure of faith, then they would be pleasing God in some way by being an unbeliever. But that's not possible. Only someone who comes forth in faith pleases God.

How do we get faith? By the Word of God. For faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
This is what the Parable of the Sower is all about. Those who receive the Word (i.e. God's Word or the Scriptures of the gospel message) had taken it to heart and repented and accepted Jesus Christ. Some have a deep root in God's Word and they endure persecutions and the cares of this life. Some who do not have root (no faith in God's Word) can fall away due to persecution and or the cares of this life. In other words, some do not endure because of a lack of faith. Remember the verse that says perfect love casts out fear? This is our walk in faith perfected with Jesus Christ.

In other words, a person has a dead faith because they lack faith. Faith to take that step with God in order to get cleansed by Him and to study and trust His Word. Some people try to follow God their own way. But faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Faith. For by grace are ye saved by faith and not that of yourselves. Not that of yourselves. Not that of yourselves. See. Jesus saves. Not that of yourselves. Grace is a free gift that changes a person so that good works will flow from that true faith. But if a person starts to doubt God, then they can backslide into sin and or even apostasize from the faith. But the foundation of faith is believing and not works. For a person can go thru all the external motions (works) and not be changed inwardly. They can have no real belief or no real faith. They could even be worshiping a false Christ or god of their own imagining.

Second, God ultimately does the good work within the believer. For Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. So if a believer chooses to be unfruitful, backslides into sin and or apostasizes, they are working against the Spirit of God trying to move within their life. For God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. For repentance is what will get a person's heart right with God. Can a person stray away from God after being born again? Yes. They still have free will. But if they are born again, it will be natural for them to allow God to work within their hearts and lives. But salvation is in a person named Jesus Christ. For He that has the Son has life and He that does not have the Son, does not have life (1 John 5:12). And if a person has Jesus living in them, then naturally Christ will do good works within their life (If a person allows Him).

While all men

Jesus here was not promoting salvation by works. He was trying to convince them that He was One with the Father. Big difference, my friend.

In any event, I hope what I said here helps.
May God bless you.
And please be well.

GOD works in and we work out our salvation, the only way we can be sure of God working in us for our salvation is to work out good deeds that will assure us of our being saved. If we abide in Christ ,we can assure our hearts that we are truly saved. Love to al, Hoffco

You are rewriting EPh 2:8 for that verse does NOT say "saved by faith unto works".

Furthermore, faith only advocates claim "not of works" in verse 9 eliminates ALL works from salvation meaning one does nothing to become saved and does nothing to remain saved. Both of which are not biblically possible for one is unrighteous and remains unrighteous by doing nothing....whosoever doeth NOT righteousness is not of God...

Unless Jesus "draws"/Forces us to obey and trust ,we can not do either, to salvation. Hoffco
No one is forced to obey or disobey. The way you have it, I can only obey if Christ forces me to, therefore my disobedience is Christ's fault and shortcoming for failing to force me to obey. So you have it backwards, me obeying is MY responsibility not Christ's responsibility. No sense in Christ giving me commands knowing I could not obey those commands unless He forced me to. The giving of commands implies MY ability and MY responsibility to obey those commands given to me.
