Often posts tell of not going back to the old ways, of all the things that Christ cancelled that the Father told of, and if anyone brings up wisdom of God given in the OT they are accused of denying Christ, yet the Father never denied the Son or the Son the Father.

There are scriptures saying we are to use what Christ gave us now, not the things of the OT that were sort of stand-ins, shadows, or symbols of the real thing. They were used in the same way only not as well. When we look at how blood was used for atonement, we better understand how Christ’s blood is used for salvation.Blood isn’t cancelled, It is made better. When we look at the duties of the Levi High Priest, we see how our real High Priest is used, not cancelled but better. When we look to see what water means spiritually in the bible, it helps to see how it has always been used.

Yet, if anyone posts anything about any of this they are labeled and black ballled. The first words they give are about ”works won’t save, only Christ”.I wonder why?The OT says the same thing: that only through the blood can salvation happen, they repeat the OT when they say that, yet they think it is an argument against God’s words in the OT.

I think most people on this board understand the types and shadows of the OT.
I fail to see your point.
Is it because many of us like living in the Light rather than the shadows?

Hey Red.......obsessed is a word in the English language and is used when someone habitually commits the same actions over and over again and or continually wraps themselves up in the same proverbial cloak of obsession with a particular object and or idea......Excessively pre-occupied mind with an idea and or feeling<---obsessed

I guess if we are not operating in love well enough to help a hardened heart;I guess a person has just got to come to the end of there flesh before they are ready to listen to grace and truth which came by JESUS.

I know you want us to at least listen to what the old testament is saying and I understand, but what are we suppose to learn that the bible and the HOLY SPIRIT hasn't already brought to our remembrance that we might see in our everyday experiences.

Don't gnash out at me sister RedTent.

Hey d,

my wife and myself are definitely excessively preoccupied AND obsessed
with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

we don't have a lot of friends,
but we have a lot of love.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4

For if the blood of bulls and of goats, ad the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh" How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:13,14
Water baptism symbolizes the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ - does nothing to change the inside of a person - but baptism in the Holy Spirit creates in one a new creation, a new man, an inner change.

Nothing wrong with that, but continual, non stop posts about the LAW and How believers of Grace reject the law etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. gets redundant doesn't it?

Water and blood came out of Jesus' side when he was crucified, so you haven't fully understood the meaning of water in scripture, and I don't see how it would be possible for you to both understand this and decide that all God the Father spoke to you in the OT was only of the shadow that you say you are not living in.

You speak of God creating a new man in you through Christ, and even though Christ is one with the Father you also say that words of the Father is living in shadow, not helping you live in the light.

All of you make me feell lke Johnny as he marched in a parade with others, and all others were all out of step but him. I feel I need to deny the Father as a help to Christ in order to be in step with the parade, and the more all of you tell me to get with you all in denying the light of the Lord, the more I feel I have to deny Christ to do it.

RedTent, I'm curious. You hammer a lot on the OT, but I've noticed it's basically centers around the Mosaic Law; do you ever speak from the OT prophecies of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Joel, Micah etc? Are you sure you are embracing the 'whole bible'?

Acts 17:10-11 That very night the believers sent Paul and Silas to Berea. When they arrived there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.

What Scriptures were they searching to see if what Paul and Silas were saying was true?

All the scriptures that testify of Jesus and salvation by grace dia faith........

I don't think you're gonna like what God says in the OT so it's best that you do throw it out.

Malachi 4 The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says, “The day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw. They will be consumed—roots, branches, and all. “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. On the day when I act, you will tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “Remember to obey the Law of Moses, my servant—all the decrees and regulations that I gave him on Mount Sinai for all Israel. “Look, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord arrives. His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

I "hammer a lot on the OT" because it seems to be what is missing in the knowledge you all have, and it explains the NT. To me you seem to hammer only on the small amount of scripture that tells the end of the story of the plan God has for us, without any of the beginning chapters. It is like telling about a book's ending as the only thing important, except this is your life this book is telling about. On top of that, everyone tells me they are right, it is only the ending chapters that are important, they don't need any of the beginning chapters and when I try to fill them in, I am told it is wrong to do that. I am even accused of not believing in the end chapters if I mention the preliminary such as "do you believe in scripture given to one person rather than to another?"

It is even told that, even though Paul even went to two law courts to defend himself, the current "law court" of today's
Christian is still saying he is guilty of being against the words of the Father, and they quote his very words to "prove" it. I believe everything Paul said, his accusers of today do not. Both the Roman court and the Hebrew court freed him of these charges in Acts. If I quote anything God the Father said, and Paul verifies, I am said to be against Paul's word from the Lord.

Going by the title of the thread, I just have to ask lol.. Are there old covenant Christians?

I thought a Christian by definition is under the new covenant. :D
