secular music?

A fellow co-worker (unsaved) & I had a discussion years ago on secular music. He liked country, & since he was the boss of our crew, that's what was played. After much debate about how I said there was nothing any good on the station, he actually found one. It did have good morals to it. So proudly he said "There! I told you we would find one!"

Immediately I agreed & replied, "Yes it is..... but how much junk we had to listen to before we finally found one?" We had been listening for over 2 hours. I told him it wasn't worth listening to all that other garbage just to hear it. To that, all he had to say was "Well, but we did find one."

I would dare say the majority of us wouldn't wade thru the city dump to get a free steak dinner..... so why would anyone listen to a day's worth of garbage to hear one decent secular song?

well maybe we dont listen to radio tripe that frequently on a regular basis. 95% of my music is stuff i have downloaded so the whole wading through junk doesn't really happen.

But then I just think this is another one of those generation gap things.

I agree. Especially with the Skillet thing.

Yeah, what nerve, calling themselves a "christian" band. If ya think & sing secular, why not just admit it?

Because maybe they are christian? That song was about them facing the horrors of the world and the fight against evil.

Secular doesn't have to be bad, just because it's "Secular" and not christian doesn't make it Wrong. The Happy Birthday song is "Secular". The ABC's Is "Secular"...ETC. I listen to instrumental music a lot which would count as "Secular" because sometimes it has nothing to do with religious or spiritual purpose.

You are thinking secular and thinking bad music, cussing, and such. Not what Secular music really is.
