if you don't like the signs God gives His people, that's something you need to sort out with God, not me.

good night.
No, I have no problem with the God of the Bible (Who can do no sin and or can do only righteousness). I have a problem with your version of God who is capable of doing evil things (Which is based upon a false twist on Scripture). Sorry, my God is not capable of doing evil. You can try and do a magic trick by directing my eyes away (Hey, look over here at this spiritual parallel! It explains everything!). However, the magic trick doesn't explain everything. For you still have failed to explain the morality of God in this instance. You can't do it. You still have to rely on a magic trick of distraction to not face the issue of your false view on this verse, my friend.

Anyways, I say this all in love and with the hope that you might see where I am coming from.

May God bless you.
And please be well.

i am amazed and grateful that God would tell His prophet to show grace to an undeserving woman,
just as He showed mercy and grace to an unfaithful Israel,
and mercy and grace to an unclean people.

reacting with awe and humble adoration, not shock and incredulity.

the only moral issue i see is that if God only loved the righteous, we are all lost and hopeless -- thank God that 'problem' is solved!!!

I believe God loves everyone. But I don't believe everyone is saved, though. People have to repent and turn from their wicked ways when they accept God (Christ) or they are not saved. If they are still in darkness of their own sin then they are still under the "Condemnation" mentioned in the Bible (John 3:19-21). But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Staying down in the mud of one's sin is not salvation. It is still being a part of this sinful world that does those very things. For Jesus said you cannot serve two masters. For you will hate the one and love the other.

If you believed Gomer repented of her sins and accepted God before marrying Hosea, then I would be happy in your view (although it may not be exactly what the Scriptures teach). For you have to understand that God is good. He is not evil.

Hey, I noticed that Cain had pleaded with God not to abandon him from His presence, because his crops will not prosper and he'll have to steal for his food and if he get caught, they will kill him, and so God has granted him protection. And so it tell us that God doesn't like murders standing in His presence; but He has gave Moses the key to His kingdom. And David had kill someone that was trustworthy to him, but God has still accepted David. And so I believe that God figure that the tax collectors and prostitutes will most likely to have repent, then the rich man and which he was an Idolater because he had idolized his possessions over God.

Paul believes that joining to a harlot is wrong.

"Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit." (1 Corinthians 6:15-17).

Jesus view of marriage is about one man and one woman joing together (Where two fleshes become one). In other words, the intimate act between a man and a woman is the joining and coming together as one flesh. If Hosea joined with an harlot, he would be joined to all the other men that she slept with. For sex is only to be within the bounds of marriage and it symbolizes the joining of two into one.

Also, God's law on sexual purity in marriage is also equally important to consider, as well. If a man found a woman to have lied about her virginity, he was not bound to marry her. See, the whole point of marriage was for a woman to be faithful before that marriage so as to dedicated to him. Are their exceptions to the rule. Yes, I believe Rahab is a special case because she repented of her sin. She was not still a practicing prostitute when she married. For explaining that there is an important spiritual message so as to make a point to side step the issue of morality in this situation does not change the morality. It is still wrong if believe God told Hosea to marry a practicing prostitute. For what fellowship does light have with darkness?
1 Corinthians 6:13-15 is talking about fornicating with a harlot.

v. 13 said:
Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
God also ordered a brother to marry the deceased brother's wife if the deceased brother's wife had no children by the deceased brother. And God also permitted priests to marry the widows of other priests. In my opinion there is no bond in marriage except to your spouse. You're not being joined to the woman's past husbands and lovers. However, outside of marriage that may be another story.

The fact that Gomer had to be purchased back from another man by Hosea even after she was his wife shows that she was committing prostitution and adultery after they were married. Hosea would not have to buy her back if she were worshiping idols.

Hosea 1:3 So Hosea married Gomer daughter of Diblaim. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son for Hosea.

Hosea 3:2-3 So I bought Gomer back for 6 ounces of silver and 9 bushels of barley. Then I told her, "You must stay at home with me for many days. You will not be like a prostitute. You will not have sexual relations with another man. I will be your husband.

It's clear that her prostitution was not idolatry but sexual relations with other men. But to be honest, I think a woman becomes something other than a prostitute when after she is married she fornicates again with another man who is not her husband. She becomes an adulteress. In the presence of sufficient witnesses she would have been executed. Whether or not the prostitute continues to be a practicing prostitute is up to her. Otherwise she's a married woman who belongs to one man. The Bible is clear that once married the only way to stop being married is for one partner to die. Execution of the adulterer/adulteress accomplished that in Old Testament times. But in the absence of such measures you were still effectively married in my opinion.

Whatever Paul says regarding this seems to be about fornicating with prostitutes (i.e. using the members of our bodies to join with the members of prostitutes' bodies). I think sex definitely is a big part of how we define marriage, because those who had sex with others in the Old Testament were supposed to marry them afterward. But sex itself is not marriage. We also have to keep in mind that Paul is speaking to Christians - not to unbelieving Jews like John the Baptist used to be. John the Baptist was a great Jew, and he was used by God. But he was not initially a child of God. And there's no guarantee Hosea was either.

In summary I think it's clear that Gomer was a prostitute, that the Torah did not explicitly teach against us marrying women who were prostitutes in their past (whether or not they repent is up to them, but presumably they're not prostituting themselves at the same time they're getting married to us), and that God commanded Hosea to marry a woman who had prostituted herself in the past and committed adultery later in their marriage.

What's more, Paul doesn't just only teach about the commandments of God. He goes a step further and teaches about the spirit behind those commandments. For example, one of the responsibilities he placed on Gentile believers was to not eat food sacrificed to idols. However, that is not a command explicitly found in the Torah. But it is often condemned in the Old Testament. And if Paul is teaching others to not even marry women who were prostitutes in their past, then that teaching of his is probably wise advice for every child of God. And a person would probably be an idiot not to follow that advice. But it is not an explicit rule of God's, and if God orders one man (i.e. Hosea) to do otherwise to be as an example to a whole nation, then I think God knows what he's doing.

Sorry, Paul did not give that command to the Gentiles. It was given by James and presumably some others. Though it's not mentioned that Paul was ever opposed to it but did associate with those believers and never rebuked them in regard to it.

To heal them and to get them to repent of their sins and to accept Him as their Savior. This is not a one time event either. We do not say, God I am sorry, and then continue on with our life as if nothing ever happened either. There has to be a change in a person's life if they are saved. For God (Christ) is the source of salvation. The fruits of the Spirit is the proof in the pudding that God lives within a person and that they have salvation. No God. No fruit from God (or changed life). No salvation.

Please read the "Condemnation" in John 3:19-21. For men did not receive the Light because they loved the darkness of their own evil deeds. You can't be saved if you are still walking in darkness. It's not possible. 1 John 1:5-9 refutes such thinking.

That is why God could not tell Hosea to marry an unbeliever who was still in the practice of sinning against God (thru prostitution). For if you had a vision from God telling you to marry a prostitute (that was still desiring to be a prostitute), would you do it? Would you use Hosea to justify your position?
Jason fiend go on with your bad self righteousness is what I hear from you, and I am at rest in this for if God has taken up rest in you, then that work God started will be completed in you by God, not you. So please ask yourself this below

1John 4:10-12, for some reason this sight is not copying and pasting

My guess is that you believe in "Once Saved Always Saved." Which is why most folks do not really have a problem with this passage in Hosea. For there is no morality in OSAS. It is a doctrine of devils. A doctrine of turning the grace of our God into a license for immorality (Jude 1:4 NIV).
Thank you, Loving it, thanking God you are not in control, as appearing to me you would be a tyrant and have no Mercy

Awesome, and as God said, I require MERCY over sacrifice, go and earn or lean? what this means. Also a man that received this Mercy went out and scorned another to court, did not have Mercy on him. Does anyone know what happened to him after this forgetful hearer and receiver of the Mercy of God. Was he ragged himself back in court?

Let's just cut to chase. Do you think it is possible today that God would want you to marry an unbelieving prostitute?

Do you all see everything in the bible as literal? And looking at it the way you do I don't know how anyone would be saved. Right or wrong most people my age aren't virgins no matter how it is categorized. Most people who are "married" today, probably weren't virgins at the time of their marriages. So if we look and judge according to that, we need to teach ourselves as well.

Again this story is a spiritual matter, just as Noah was when finding a wife after so long for the same reason as the prophet. It is the same type of story that is in revelation in which the kings of the earth fornicates with the whore.

Do you believe God has a purpose in all God does or asks his children to do? Was it righteous for God to tell Abraham to take his Son and kill his Son? was it righteous for God to take his own Son and allow him to be crucified?

Do you trust God, all in all?

Let's cut to the chase. God told a prophet to kill thousand idolaters. Do you think it is possible today that God would want you to kill an unbeliever?...
...your question is irrelevant. How about you read the actual book, and meditate on it, rather than just the story image.

Read the whole book of Hoses, and you will see that the prostitute was to be married as a physical example of God's relationship with the Hebrews.

Is it possible that today God would have His Son marry a sinner? The answer is YES! What do you think the Church is?
Sinners saved by Grace.

Do you think it is possible today that God would order a leader of a nation to commit genocide and kill every man woman and child and animal in a neighbouring territory?

1 Cor 2:13-14

Rather than submitting to the Word, this one needs to add to it for it to make sense to him.
The Word seems like foolishness to him, so he revises it.

"It wasn't wine, but grape juice"
"God doesn't really know our future decisions, because that denies free-will."
"She wasn't a prostitute, but an idolater, and she repented of that before they got married, because God wouldn't tell someone to marry an unrepentant sinner"

Keep editing the Word, and you will find your name edited in the Big Book upstairs.

"For who has the mind to give instruction to he Lord?"
Will you try to give God advice when you meet Him?
Like "you should have been more clear about the wine thing" or "you really shouldn't have told Hosea to marry a sinful woman, that was a bad idea. She should have repented first".

Jason: you are not seeing anything of the depths of the teaching by your Creator in this story, but insisting that you see clearly everything there is about it. Then you are taking it upon yourself to teach everyone, even those who are babies in Christ, that you are the only person in the world who sees this correctly. What is even more against you is that you are adding actual truths from the word as a "proof" that you know all and with that knowledge you can judge and condemn others.

By doing this, according to scripture it would be : Luk_17:2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to stumble.

Scripture also teaches against your position in this: Mat_7:3 Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye but don't notice the log in your own eye?

I realize you feel so convinced in your own mind that you know all through Christ and need not learn anything more, and I agree you know a lot. You have many truths you bring out. But so do demons know a lot, and many even heal in the Lord's name. But you do need to take one more step in learning before you decide the Lord is finished with you so well you can set yourself up to the world as understanding every depth of the word of the Lord.

You don't understand what happened. Hebrews 11:19 tells us that Abraham believed God was going to resurrect his son. He didn't believe God was asking him to permanently take the life of his son.

the book of Hosea doesn't record that the prophet questioned God's wisdom or morality...
