Jesus turned water into unfermented wine and not fermented wine.

See, when I look at the Holy Scriptures I see God as always being good and loving no matter what He is doing. I believe I can explain the goodness of God and how His morality makes sense. My God's goodness (According to the Word) is not a mystery to me. I believe the Scriptures teach that I can trust in God's goodness and come to know and explain that goodness to people. It's not a mystery. God's love and goodness can be known.

Jason you have so much zeal for God's word. That is a wonderful thing but your Judgement is not needed. Lets let God do that for only He is qualified.

I have no problem with the New Testament believer drinking soberly and in moderation within privacy of their own home.
Personally, I don't really care what you have a problem with.

You haven't demonstrated to me much in terms of being able to rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

The Word of God does not say you can only drink in moderation "within privacy of their own home."

That is your private interpretation, not supported by the preponderance of biblical evidence, or the preponderance of any other evidence.

Finally, you have a good idea.

Now, what does the Hebrew word "shekar" mean again?

Strong (intoxicating) drink or Kool-Aid?

Hey, that could be your problem causing lack of understanding. Too much Kool-Aid.
"shekar" has more than one meaning.

It can mean "strong drink"
It can mean "intoxicating"
It can mean "strong drink that is intoxicating"

Context shows which it is.

For instance,

In Deuteronomy 14, God tells the Israelite tither to buy strong drink to be consumed at the religious festival in Jerusalem.

Deuteronomy 14:26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

IN Micah 2:11, God warns them to beware of prophets who promote strong drink.

Micah 2:11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

Same word, "shekar" in both verses. Difference being that in the former, God promotes the drinking of the strong drink and gives no limitation or restriction whatsoever. If this were an alcoholic beverage, then the one celebrating could get smashed out of his gourd since there is no instruction to limit or restrict oneself to just a glass. Clearly, this strong drink is not alcoholic.

In the latter, God clearly is set against the strong drink, revealing that the man who prophesies of string drink is lying when he does such. This strong drink is alcoholic and God's favor is not upon it at all.

Things that are different are not the same.

No, God is not the only one qualified. Paul told the Church that they were qualified. Jesus told His Disciples to 'judge righteous judgment," and "ye shall know the tree by its fruit."

Sorry you disagree, but the Word of God reveals that we can judge.

i'm just interested to see how long ya'll keep this going.
Probably until those who have been bearing false witness against the Word of God like StandingFirmInChrist, KJV1611, and Jason0047 repent.

I asked you before what you thought the "strong drink" in Deuteronomy 14:26 was, if not an alcoholic beverage. You didn't answer.

So what might Moses refer to as "strong drink" do you suppose?

And now, for the second time, you have referred to "string drink."

What is that, exactly? Tequila with a worm in it?

post #1023 addresses the strong drink in Deuteronomy 14. So, i did answer your question as to what that strong drink was.

As to my hitting the I instead of the O earlier, if you will notice my avatar, I am blind. I occasionally hit a wrong key with my fingers. You know perfectly well I meant strong and not string.

Just remember what else the Word of God says about juding. It will be measured back to you. This is not righteous judgement you are twisting Gods word. You are saying He decieves people. You are leading those who are not strong in the Lord astray.

read that passage again, Lisa. It is saying if you judge someone for doing wrong, and you are guilty of doing that same thing, you will be judged in the same manner as you judged the other.

that is why it is important to judge righteous judgment.

Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
Thanks.

And again we have the Hebrew word "yayin" for "wine" and "shekar" for "strong drink."

Hey KJV1611 and StandingFirmInChrist, you two "liked" this post.

Please tell me again how we are not talking about intoxicating beverages here.
What's your point Jack?

I have read everything you have placed out here. I would like to invite you and others here to hear my interpretation of this miracle. I don't not mind being corrected as I clearly do not study as much of the world of many of you. I have to believe that even if the internet did not exist that God has made things easy enough that I can understand by His spirit.

Its a wedding and its a wedding of a good family because Mary who is virtuous is there. Jesus and His friends (disciples) are invited and there are so many people that the wine has run out. Mary knows her Son can do anything and she asks knowing. He says "its not my time" She tells the servants to so whatever He says to do. (We are the servants) He says go out and get some water (the reaping of the harvest) and fill the jars with it." Then Jesus adds the fruits of the spirit which are our good works to the water. The water is made into wine. This is a powerful family and we are but humble servants. This man (Jesus) comes in and we watch Him do this! He says "now...take the wine to the Govenor/Master of the ceremony (represenative of God the Father) and let him judge the wine." This entails trust from us that it is not poisonous. The Governor/Master of the Ceremony tastes it and calls out (trumpets sound) for the Bridegroom (God the Son) " this is good! you saved the best for last!"

The Governor is God the Father.
The Bridegroom the God the Son
The wine is God the Holy spirit. (is made of its from the fruits of the spirit)
We are the servants.

Its a wedding and God was invited there to be a witness.
Jesus is God!

This first miracle is how He knew the will of the Father. When so few noticed the wine was good. He understood that few would know Him to be good. His glory was manifested.

Close your eyes and look around you! You are in the presence of the Holy trinity at the throne of God! You are insulting His wine and I testing Him?

AGAIN it do not care to if it has alcohol in it. I cant drink it anyways. i cant bear the cross! I was told to take it to the Father and let Him tell you if it is good. He says it is. Please stop and think. Do you really want to risk being wrong?

Am I way off base here? This is how my spirit revealed.

Yes, you are way off base. Perhaps it is because you are letting your spirit reveal the interpretation instead of the Holy Spirit.

Mary was virtuous? Really? Where does the Bible say that?

Mary does not command us, nor instruct us.

Mary knew Jesus could do anything? How could she know such when the Bible records this event as His first miracle?

Jesus added the fruits of the Spirit? Sorry, it's just not there.

If the wine was alcoholic as you suppose, then I submit to you that it was poisonous. Alcohol is an intoxicant. Its root? toxin... Poison. Hence, its tag... intoxicant. And alcohol does poison the one who consumes it. Their brain, heart, stomach, liver, & kidneys are all poisoned by the toxin they call alcohol.

In small doses, it is not always readily noticable. But it kills brain cells each time it is consumed. That is why Solomon said it has the power to deceive. Every drunkard started with just one drink. He thought he could control it, but instead, he was controlled by the drink.

No, I do not insult His wine. I recognize it for what it was... The pure, unfermented wine that was good for man's heart.

Let's see if your interpretation is right.
Where in scripture do you find that water = reaping a harvest?
Where in scripture do you find that our good works produce wine (God the Holy Spirit)?

There is no part of scripture that says Jesus turned water into unfermented wine.
The scripture that speak against imbibing are speaking against alcohol abuse. Getting drunk, losing ones self to strong drink, etc...

I see something way different than you. I see something good and beautiful...The difference between you and I is that I do not mind being wrong but at least I don't lean on google to dig up untruths. Some things are not written... but Mary the Mother of Jesus i have to believe she was a good woman. Did she not think He could do it?

anything Jesus asks us to go get is reaping

Either way...You are judging something that you have right judging you are judging what symbolicly became the blood of Christ and that is dangerous.

Let me ask you this. You say that the wine could not have had alcohol in it because it would make it evil? Did God create evil?

You say that it can cause a man to stumble so can the internet...is it evil?

How about people with sex addiction...should I not smile a friendly smile for fear that they may stumble?

What about addictive medication that people need to survive? is that evil because it could distroy?

People make it evil...

I didn't utilize google to arrive at what I posted. Don't know why you keep inferring I do

As I said, you are wrong. You add to the Word of God in many ways when you give your interpretation of John 2:1-11. That much is quite obvious.

You say you don't mind being corrected, yet you constantly dismiss correction.
