O.K. enough of wandering around the block. There is only one thing that makes you, you, and that is your mind, your consciousness, your window to the world that enables you to recognize who you are and know how to operate in the word, the software that runs your brain, which is the hardware. When we die, God, through the Holy Spirit, uploads our mind, seals our access to our memories, and saves us for the resurrection.

Gary, you have nailed this one 100 over 100. The spirit in man contains all that we are, the character, memories and thoughts. It, of itself is not conscious and must work through a body, whether that body be physical or spiritual. We are given spiritual bodies at the resurrection...
1Co 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
1Co 15:43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
1Co 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
The resurrection occurs when?
1Co 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
For those who have died in Christ, the spirit of man and the Holy Spirit are united with a spiritual body and made alive again. This time, eternally alive.
