You dont need to donate to be able to use the mic and do pm's..You just need to make sure you set the mic settings to "allow".
Click the mic icon in the text box in the chatroom and click allow. Hope this helps.

Blue_ladybug. There is a new rule. The new members who joined after august 1 have to be subscribers to be able to pm and use the mic. I dont know if there is a grace period witness, I think that is something the mods would be able to help you with like alaynaj from the lounge room. God bless you.

As Prodigal told you earlier today, it can take 24 hours (sometimes as much as 48 hrs) for these options to be activated. Only RoboOp has the ability to confirm the donation and even he takes a day off occasionally to spend time with his family.

This is no longer the case. This site has always had problems raising enough money based on random donations yet it's users (99% of which never contribute a cent) continue to demand that we upgrade and update the function of the site without contemplating that it takes money to purchase software, pay the server bill, and just as important support the labor of RoboOp and his family.
As of August 1st the mic, pm, and some of the rooms in chat have become features only available to paid subscribers. Users who joined prior to Aug 1st have been grandfathered under the old policy, but new users will have to pay for an annual subscription to have those popular features available to them.

Shouldn't there have been a thread or pm to everyone explaining this? I never understood why the mic didn't work and who knows if the recipients ever received my messages. 
Oncefallen, I did not know this, because I did'nt receive any email memo or anything. It's good to know this is what the case is now. Thank you.

Any new user who attempts to use the mic, PM in chat, or access restricted rooms gets a CCBot message in the main room text letting them know of these restrictions.
Time will tell if the benefits (increased site income) outweigh the drawbacks (decreased traffic).
I think new users should at least be able to use the PM feature to contact the moderators (only) so if they need one, they can talk in private to a mod, rather than have to air a grievance in the main room or use CC mail.
This has been suggested to Robo already by some of the staff, but it will take him some time to code.

well i am still waiting to be able to use mic and pms after waiting the aloted time of 48 hr PLEASE kepp your aditude to your self so im not sure where to go from here i paid to be able to use the site i paid by going to setting and
