I'll make it's plain - Does God want us to be in specific places? Like, to live in specific places? What if you're miserable where you live but that's where God might want you to be and you leave?

Would a bunch of chaos happen where you move to? Will God, I don't know. . "Curse" you?

Please, please PLEASE answer. . I need some biblical insight.

No God will not "curse you" if you move somewhere else. That's silly. Chaos can happen anywhere, at any time. It can happen where you are now, and it can happen if you move elsewhere. Pray to God and ask him to show you where you should move to from here. No matter where he takes you, it will be the right place at the right time. :)

If you're miserable where you are, that's God telling you that's not where he wants you to be.

I once thought that God wanted me to live in Siberia. Fortunately, I was wrong and a bunch of chaos was avoided. I am a Southern big city boy now even though it is hotter than you know what in the south sometimes. I think that I require an ice cold beverage.

God is always in control. We do need to find his will for our lives, in all things, including geographical location. 15 years ago my husband got transferred back to my home town a place I hated because of the long, cold winters. I stayed for a year in the warmer place, with lots of excuses why I could not leave. i finally gave up and moved, so he did't have to drive a 1000 mile trip every weekend.

I hate it here, but after 15 years, I see the hand of God in moving us here, in so many things. My husband just retired, and we are trying to sell our house to move somewhere warmer and nearer our children and grandchildren.

Apparently, God still has other plans. I may be stuck here another winter. But I no longer worry. God will move us or not. His plans are the ones we have to live with.

And no, chaos doesn't mean you are out of God's will. But it just may help you to grow more in the Lord. So be at peace! God really is in control!

Now if you are under direct orders from God to go somewhere and refuse your might end up in the belly of a fish, but in your case I would pray about it then look for another place to live and if it is meant to be it should be an easy move.

I currently live in an area I really dislike. But both my husband and I feel that God has us right where He wants us. We suck it up because we know we're in God's will. And, btw, He has blessed us in so many ways since we've been here. Sometimes God works like that.

What God wants for us is to how God explained it in the first books of scripture, telling how Joshua was to manage the promised land. God wants for each of us to live in a secure land with fun, abundance, security, and love for Him and God tells us how to live so we have that. Now, there are almost no communities where that is happening, but it is not God's choice.

God will take any situation we are in for whatever reason and make the best of it for us because we have decided that all of our life is to be lived for God's purposes. But we have to look at our situation honestly and look for the best way to handle it so it is in line with God's purposes.

I found that looking to Daniel and how he handled impossible circumstances gives me a clue on how to handle what I have to. For each of us, sometimes it means moving. Sometimes it is to show us something we need to do to adjust. For each person, it is something just for him for that particular situation. To know takes growing in the Lord, having lots of His word in your mind, heart, and soul, and lots of prayer.

Odds are that if your miserable where you are, you'll be miserable where you go. Misery is not usually indicative of your location. I don't think God cares where you live, as long as you take Him with you. jmo

Hugs,
chaos can be testing at times. :)
But, remember, that we are no longer of flesh, but in Jesus, born into His Spirit and called to live in His Spirit.
Chaos is of flesh, and Jesus overcame all flesh, the world.

Jesus said," in the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world."

You are now born into Jesus's Spirit, no longer alive in flesh, so no matter what the world brings to your life, in Jesus, His spirit, all is overcome.

Look to Jesus, call upon Him, and let His peace and victory be known in your heart.
He is trully with you through His spirit, and as you grow in His spirit, His victory will dazzle you and bring the peace that surpasses all understanding.

I witness to this in Jesus's name, so you will know it in Him. :)

Hang in there, it trully is worth it. :)

Like Peter said, I have run the race, I have fought the hard battle, I have kept the faith! :)

In Jesus, God bless

Testing or chastisement I cannot tell you. I had to smile since I knew a man whom God called to the mission field. This man hated cold whether. God called him to Alaska and the Hall road. Souls came to know Christ through this good mans willingness to serve God wherever God called him.

If you serve God where you are and God wants you someplace else God will lead you out. If you serve God where you are and God wants you there He will keep you there and bless in abundance. If you will not serve God where you are then there is no right place for you anywhere. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to be removed. God answered Paul with My grace is sufficient for you.

For the cause of Christ

It is a hard question. You need to pray about it. Holy spirit will give you an answer in time. I am in a place where I feel miserable, but I need to be there for now. The reason only God knows, but there has been some benefits. God works in his time. We would love a quick answer, but don't get it. Pray and ask God what service is required from you. Be patient.

You really have to have a good relationship with God in order to know what He wants best for you. Because it could be you who is desperately telling yourself that you want a change or Satan luring you into a trap.

I wasn't saved until 2003 and didn't believe in Jesus but strongly believed in God, and was very desperate to leave a major city on the east coast. I pray every day for years for His blessing to secure me passage to the West.

It finally happened when I received a full scholarship at an elite university out West 6 years later (1980). God answered my prayer. As a matter of fact He had always answered my prayers although I wasn't saved. What a Lord !!

And 23 years later He (Jesus Christ) knocked me off my high white horse like Saul and "strongly encouraged" me to join the saved and be part of His family. I graciously accepted.

I recently had the urge to return to the east coast but He encourage me not to go but He will let me know when it is feasible. Either way, you must establish a solid relationship with the Lord in order to know where He wants to go.

Did you know in 2003 that Jesus IS God? I'm just wondering because you say here that you did'nt believe in Jesus, but yet you strongly believed in God. Jesus is, and was, in human earthly form, God. :)

I am not happy where I am at and wished for years I could move. But God has never opened that door for me, so I have to bloom where HE planted me :). I still pray about it and still wish to live somewhere else, at times I would love to live in another country since this one is going to pot, but, I cannot do anything without the hand of God opening a door.
Praying for you.

No, before 2003 I didn't believe Jesus was God and accepted Him as just a man who gave His life up on the Cross.

I have come a long way.:)

What the Lord wants is that we love Him & love neighbor as self.

Obsessing over issues which have no relevance to those principles is legalism, probably what a shrink would call obsessive-compulsive.

If we are in doubt about what to do, we claim the wisdom of James 1; we ask for wisdom & trust Him for it. But if it has nothing to do with loving God or neighbor, we are playing religious tiddlywinks.

We are guaranteed wisdom in moral issues, but not when the matter is a non-moral human skill. For example, you can't just pray for wisdom & get it to do brain surgery or drive a car if you are blind.

The Christian life is not lived by having the Lord dictate the details of the decisions of our lives directly. What He wants is that we care for and love people and act by that motivation.

If God tells you to go to a certain place, like He did to Abraham, do that. If not, you may be on a 'shorter leash' and have a lot more flexibility and freedom in where to go.

When you make decisions, acknowledge the Lord. Pray about it. Listen. Listen to council. Listen to scripture. Ask and listen if God directs you. If He doesn't, God put man over the earth to have dominion, so exercise that dominion and go live somewhere on earth. Remember what Proverbs 3 says. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.

The answer to you question is yes. He does plant you where He wants you. And the answer to your second question is yes. If you violate God's plan for your life, He will correct you with the rod. This is an act of love, that a Father corrects his children. If He didn't love you he wouldn't correct you.
I have been corrected with the rod myself it's no fun. I've seen things cursed and destroyed out of my life.
I perceive your real question is, what is God's plan for you? Not, what happens if you violate it? That in mind I counsel that you give your heart fully to the Lord and with full repentance. When you give your heart to him he will indwell placing his desire for your life into your own heart. Then your hearts' desire will become God's pleasure. He will answer your righteous prayers from your righteous heart and fulfill it in your life. So have faith. Not knowing God's plan is not the problem. The problem is not feeling connection with his plan. We are little children. Little children don't understand there parents plans in full. We are told what we need to know when we need to know it. But trust the good Father fully and he will not lead you astray. God Bless.

I tend to believe that God is more of an observer. It is the reason why He gave us the freewill. If He will continue to mess around in our daily life, thru leading us or stopping us, how is He going to judge us? Chaos comes to us thru our own doing and sometimes thru other's.

If life is miserable, this is my guide to get out of it.

Matthew 19:16-30 (NKJV)
Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler

16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good[a] Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”
17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good?[b] No one is good but One, that is, God.[c] But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
