I have heard similar stories of God protecting His people, too. Not only in our modern day world, but in the Bible, as well.
Thank you for being here. I don't think I could have beared to take all this opposition without a co-laborer for peace.

I've read so many stories of God doing the fighting for people. Even one when one guy was a black belt and a village shaman was calling him out to fight. God told the missionary to stand down because He will do His fighting for him for now on. When they were about to fight, the shaman fell over as dead.
I kinda doubt that story. If God told the missionary to stand down, why was he about to fight? And why would God defend a person who disobeyed Him? Some stories are meant to be inspirational, but aren't necessarily true. I'm always skeptical when someone claims that God told them something.

He met him out there with no intention to fight but to wait on God.

You can doubt modern miracles if you would like. It is a lot easier to go through life thinking that God doesn't really interact with this world. A very convenient theology.

You are most welcome, my brother.

I do appreciate the fellowship in standing up for what is true and good according to God's Word. It is rare to find people who will not compromise on what the Scriptures plainly say.

May God's love, peace, and blessings be unto you and your family in great abundance, my friend.

Sincereily,

~Jason.

And if you guys would like a mainstream Christian source for miracles that are happening, buy some books or even support a missionary from Gospel For Asia and you will be FLOODED with news of miracles that are happening in India. There's also Advancing Native Missions, Vision Beyond Borders (ministry to the persecuted), and a number of other organizations that are pretty well known. The story that I told was actually from Advancing Native Missions.

I think the reason why we do not live lives that are full of the power of God is because we don't trust Him. We don't even have any reason to. We have savings accounts, retirement accounts, insurance, freedom to go to church (and we don't like to evangelize outside of church), plenty of food so we'll never starve, plentiful access to water--as such we do not desperately seek God nor do we even want to. We just want to go on with life as normal. But God doesn't call Christians to live normal lives.

So who's saying they love the work of a criminal by endorsing a humane way of death? Why should that mean they care for the victim less?

I don't get why you mention valuing life less just because people are concerned if a lethal injection was not administered properly.

Would you rather the criminal was tortured and brutalized before death? Would that mean the victim is cared for more?
Nobody is saying that they want to torture anybody. It's not my job to judge someone's actions. Nothing we've been stating has anything to do with vengeance. We are talking about stopping an attacker in the moment of their attack and by whatever means necessary to see that it's done.

How did "torture" get into this conversation? I think the idea of Christians being forbidden from using self defense comes from applying scriptures of suffering for the gospel to suffering in any situation.

"But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer... Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed..." 1 Pet.4:15-16

Suffering as a murderer is just. Suffering as a Christian isn't.

I had to repost this so maybe our point could be understood. It seems that people are just posting without reading previous posts.

Go back and read some of my previous posts. Like the one I have on faith and the one I have on the Sovereignty of God. Then maybe you can see our point about self defense and defending others.

Defending others and putting someone I don't know ahead of myself is, I believe, something we as Christians are supposed to do.

The Pacifism of Sin

THE PACIFISM OF SIN

What happens if we just do nothing.
Does the wind blow in the direction of sin?
In a vacant lot weeds automatically pop up.

The flesh lusts vs the Spirit.

Is there an autopilot in the Christian life?
Or are we like Peter, in process of sinning the moment we stop exercising faith in Christ in our situation?

Does folly come natural to the Christian, so that he must ever be praying for wisdom (James 1) to escape that folly?

How Much Protection?

And even more testimonies: . . .
Not saying all these stories are true, but I believe that God protects His people today like He has protected them in times past.
I more; in
labors more abundantly, in
more abundantly, in
stripes above measure, in
deaths oft. 24 Of the Jews
five times received I
forty stripes save one. 25
Thrice was I
beaten with rods,
once was I
stoned, thrice
I suffered
shipwreck, a night and a day have
I been
in the deep; 26 in
journeyings often, in
[
But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next]

perils of rivers, in
perils of robbers, in
perils from my countrymen, in
perils from the Gentiles, in
perils in the city, in
perils in the wilderness, in
perils in the sea, in
perils among false brethren; 27 in

labor and travail, in
[like a woman giving birth]

watchings often, in
[without sleep]

hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in
[no food often!]

cold and
nakedness.
28 Besides those things that are without, there is that which presseth upon me daily,
anxiety
for all the churches.
- 2 corinthians

It may be observed how it was not just beaten once.

five times received I
forty stripes save one. 25

beaten with rods,

once was I
stoned,

[yeah, only once stoned]

"Okay class, what did we learn in bible study today?"

Man speaks "because Paul was persecuted for his faith I shouldn't protect my family"
Young teenaged girl speaks "I shouldn't resist a rapist."
Mother speaks "If someone attempts to kidnap my children God wants me to do nothing."

"very good, now go and spread the good news. Remember, Jesus loves you!" *enter cheesy smile and fake gun finger pointing here.

I never denied that believers will not face persecution. Both God's people and ubelievers experience bad and good things in this life For believer's will be persecuted (Matthew 5:44); And God sends rain on the just and unjust (Matthew 5:45). In fact, go back and read what I wrote. I already mention that a Christian will be persecuted. This actually disproves the idea that we are to fight back physically so as to harm another. For we are to live as Christ lived. We are to pick up our cross and deny ourselves. Christ suffered for us and set an example for us to follow (1 Peter 2:21). Nowhere did Jesus ever fight back when he suffered for us.

Christian persecution for the sake of the gospel is not in conflict with God protecting his people on other occasions. For the angel had let lose the apostles out of the prison. Paul was protected from the bite of a snake. Paul was protected when he was ship wrecked. The young man who had fell out the window was brought back from the dead by Paul. Paul was able to get up the next day and leave after having been stoned and presumed dead.
