I do it because I know who I am. It's sad many do not. I am a Child of the Way and a Child of God. The one true GOD Jesus. The 2nd Person of the Godhead bodily and in fullness.

It's like I see Christians in Church raising there arms up high and sing praises in worship. It's like I see Christians being baptized within the Church. It's placing a ring ones finger in marriage. These are outwards witness ideals to show those their love for a GOD. I chose to get tattoos to cover the many scars I have from gotten from growing up in the wrong crowds. I wanted to cover them to stop reminding me of what happened to myself. And it was not GOD who led me to suffering. I did.

So I thought what makes me happy? Jesus makes me happy just thinking about Him. Then a got one then two then I kinda got carried away. But, I'm happy and proud that my tattoos are an outward witness for my Lord and my GOD. It's not self gain. It wasn't to pick up women. It's a constant reminder that I'm in love with an Arab man. A GOD who belongs to the whole wide world. Not the Jews as they once thought and still do. That were taught to separate themselves even circumcision. Didn't work did it.

And, yes. Jesus would not bypass me at all. Thinking to the cross of the thief on His right. I believe the thief was tattooed up with sin(not literally) but GOD looked into his heart and felt his and it was true. The thief will be in paradise with our Lord and our GOD.

God Bless

With all my searching about getting tattoos... I found that the Leviticus verse saying not to cut or mark your body, it didn't just say don't mark your body, it says don't do it for the dead. And if you read even the rest of the book, the other few things it says not to do, many people do them. It's the fact of what it was for. I do think it makes many people unattractive, yet, I feel if they get ones in the right place with the right artwork then it can be awesome. I only have one tattoo of something I created. And I don't plan to just get cool ones, and I dislike popular stuff, and it wouldn't be perverted, but it would be about who I am, what I live for and much relating to God in my life. And piercings surely aren't wrong, but some do look quite bad. Yet, God also focuses on the heart not mainly the body. And yes, we will get new bodies and likely tattoos and piercings won't hurt it heh. Be who you are, if you are saved and wonder, don't go to other people to find if it's wrong, but you have the Holy spirit inside you, when we do wrong, God corrects us and our spirit he gave us let's us know when we usually are wrong, just don't ignore it. I prayed about it, and I even know a pastor with beautiful tattoos of God, piercings, long hair and listens to metal music that isn't only always about God and praise. Everything on earth is able to glorify God, you shouldn't see things just for what they are, but find if you can use it to glorify God, to be who you are and not be or act like someone else, if anything was ever wrong with something, then bad things would happen with it. And nothing with my tattoo all this time hasn't given me a simple issue. It's only reminded me more of what God has for me. So if this does help you realize, and if you are going to get a tattoo, then please, take time and choose wisely and but get something that would ever be a stupid or regretful choice throughout all your life on earth. Heh.

Does a tattoo affect how I view someone? Not really. I'm more interested in the story than the artwork itself. I'm also more interested in the wearer's attitude about it than when they got the tattoo relative to coming to Christ.

I've never felt strongly about tattoos in the whole scheme of salvation thing. Will ink work keep you out of heaven? I don't know, but I think your heart has more bearing on it than the "I heart NY" ink you got done after 9/11.

Perhaps more importantly, I have learned the hard way to value grace, so I tend to give it freely. My impression is that Christ valued grace enough that He was dying to give it to us, so why can't we inconvenience ourselves a little to give it to one another.

I think a saved person's attitudes about their past choices are more critical measure than the earthly outcomes of those choices. To me, a Christian walking around with a pre-salvation tat is no more relevant than someone who has not had a drink in 40 years, but had a DUI conviction 45 years ago. The lifestyle one is engaged in now is what matters; under Christ we have no past.

As for a post-salvation ink session...I'm inclined to say it comes back to heart. Is everything permissible under Christ? No, but under Christ there are things that are not worth getting uptight about. Christians should focus on the crucial salvation issues and work together to save the unsaved, not be legalistic back biters who try to push each other out of heaven.

As for my past... There's plenty of it that I am not proud of. I don't shove that in anyone's face, and at times downplay it. Christ has forgive me, that is all most people need to know. My past, however, is something I turned over to God. He owns it. So every once and again, when He wants to put it to use and let my past be a thing that allows someone to open up and listen to me about what God has done in me, then that is God's prerogative, and who am I to stand in His way.

Whatever the nature of your tattoos...be them a regrettable or an intentional choice, God can use them. God wants your whole life - ink and all. Live for Him and the details sort themselves out.

Yeah pretty much THIS.
No offense taken. Everything isn't for everyone. There are plenty of things on men and women that take a 10 to a 0 for me as well. BUT- I have gotten better at looking at people for WHO they are and not what I see initially. Work in progress but I am trying. You guys aren't the first I have heard say this.

That's a day-by-day thing for sure; sometimes easier said than done. Just curious, but what are the tattoos of? Not to go too far off-topic.

This would be something in the old testament, we live under gods grace now if your born again. Pharisees would be looking for any reason to condemn someone back then. As long as its not a 666 tattoo or anything evil you should be good. But then again I did watch something that said spirits can attach themselves to tattoo parlors. But you can rebuke that in the name of Jesus. God bless!

Well me personally I don't have any tattoos/piercing or even thinking about getting one. So all I have to say. Regarding those things. It up to you and how you want to represent yourself and how you want others to see you(Having tattoos/piercing isn't sinful, but you need to care about your body. You are beautiful just the way you are, so u don't need to add anything else on your body). Well God said come as you are. So he doesn't care much how you look as long as you come to him and have a relationship with him. In a way, you will look at yourself and even think of changing how you look because of how he makes you feel very special regardless of how you look. So you will want to please him more and make yourself look even better by removing the piercings/tattoos etc.
Excellent Post !! Finding a decent partner or husband these days is difficult enough ... but these excessive use of tattoos & piercings will only make the search more difficult.
