Richie_2uk, you said, "So when people decide to leave because of what ever reason they have. deep down, they not found the God they are looking for here." There are lots of people cycling in and out of churches for that reason, and some Christians that stay still feel the same way.

Blue_Ladybug, there will be no arguing on this thread. :)

Cfultz3, how do you ignore people? I have only one in mind. Surprises me that the mods haven't yet banned him from the forum.

Just_me, really love your avatar and signature(s). Sounds like you've lived a full life.

I'd like to get long-winded and expound on things, like I sometimes do, but I guess there's nothing left to say.

Yayy!! lol... :)

I had a thought some days back of starting a thread with the Question.
Does becoming an intellectual book smart Christian harden ones heart?
I do not have that problem due to the fact that God put it in my heart to read the bible more three years ago. Something that I still have not done.
I am struggling to quote any scriptures now days. For it seems that I forgot the little that I once knew.

Maybe you should start that thread. This one has been moved from the Bible forum to the Miscellaneous forum for I don't know what reason since it addresses biblical issues and several other threads with the same theme remain in the Bible forum.

You asked, "Does becoming an intellectual book smart Christian harden ones heart?" The answer is usually "Yes" but not necessarily always. Intellectual knowledge is at the opposite end of the spectrum from obedience to God, love for others, and all the things that make a person soft or human. It's generally true that the 'smarter' (knowledge or information-wise) a person gets, the less he cares to obey God or do right by others. It all began with lucifer himself who fell from Grace because he became too smart to do right:

"You corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor, so I threw you to the earth" (Eze. 28:17, NIV).

lucifer was beautiful and wise, so his God-given wisdom became useless since he thought he was too beautiful and wise to have to obey God, etc. The more knowledge people gather (which most people call 'being smart'), the more hardened their hearts tend to become towards God. Check also for reference the Pharisees and religious scholars of Jesus' day.

People like to argue because they think only they have the truth and the rest of us are always wrong and ready for them to stomp on? (imo)

Most people aren't narcissistic enough to actually believe only they have the truth; however, most people are self-centered enough to believe they have the right to stomp on others who don't agree with them. In secular society, most people prefer being better than others to being right; and so it is here.

yeah, there are some folks on here it is best to not interact with that much. i'll just say that you will never get folks who think they are " perfect" to admit otherwise.

Most people who 'think they are perfect' are lucid enough not to believe it for a second (they just pretend to others like they believe it). It's the very few people who actually believe they are perfect or better than others who are dangerous.

We are on a Christian forum; people are sharing what they have been taught, live by, and whole heartedly believe in. It is very painful to realize what you were taught is wrong and you have been living by the wrong teachings. The first response is to defend what you believe in and this does become very emotional for most people. We are even taught to stand up for what we were taught the way we were taught. We Christians do need to understand there are new people coming on board all the time and they become confused at the arguing back and forth. Compare this to a person going to a Holiness Church for the first time and walking in when the majority of the congregation is up dancing and speaking in tongues. The visitor can analyze this worship service in many ways, and the worst could be that this service appears to be a bunch of crazy people out of order and I don't need to be around crazy people.
People believe they have the truth, you better believe it. People design their lifestyle around their beliefs. Change is very hard on everyone, but change does come about when you are really seeking God and ask for wisdom. If you think arguing only takes place here look at some of the political meetings. Anytime you assign more than one person to do something there will be arguing about which way is the best way to do it, unless you assign one person as the lead person.
Satan loves for us to argue in such am manner that newcomers will not join and members will leave. The newcomer may come back once they realize there is no forum that contains no arguing, and realize these Christians on the ChristianChat Forum are really trying to get to the truth. Members if you can't handle the arguing in a particular forum, you don't have to stay in there and read it. Go back to that forum sometime or days later and read what conclusion was established. Do not allow Satan to win by pushing you out. If I am a new person to this forum and I look at the available chat forums and I see complaints about too much arguing I might just leave then. Remember we do have the availability of private talk too!

The biggest problem with people on here who think their right.
We keep judging eachother instead of helping eachother.
There's alot of hate because people are caught upon religion.
And thinks its okay to bring people down.
and think their doing god a favor.

Exactly, we are to help others rather they are brothers and sisters in Christ or not.
We are to edify them, and help them in their situation and growth in following our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This requires pointing out to fellow Christians if they misuse context in scripture, or when they are only using part of a scripture/s to make their point instead of using all scriptures to get the full meaning.
We are to do this in love, and kindness, and not with harsh words.

The issue I have come across when you try to do this to help them in understanding is they start getting hateful toward you, and even start condemning you. The other thing they start doing is even start stating things as if you said it, when you never did.

3If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, 5and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain 1 Tim 6

the sounds words of Jesus are to love one another (patience, not rude, not proud 1 Cor 13). to forgive one another. the doctrine comforming to godliness is abiding in christ, being filled with the [fruit of the] Spirit in season and out of season. to have patience (which is also agape love 1 cor 13). a real christian has a double portion of patience, both the fruit of the spirit of love and patience, and the agape love nature of God, love and patience. those that don't consent to these words here are concieted (PROUD).

but we are to test the spirits. wheat grows with the tares in the same field. gift of the Spirit helps us distingush between spirits. the love of the Father is not in the brother who fights another, fighting comes out of a spirit of strife, that comes from hate, that comes from pride. if a brother really loved another, 1 Cor 13 would always be evident in his treatment with another. if there's no love, there will be hate. if a brother slanders, it's cause he hates. if he argues out of pride, it's because he has anger, which comes from an ill-willed disconnection which is a definition of hate. it boggles my mind to experience so many "Christian's" being angry with one another. Jesus said if a brother is angry with another he is subject to the judgment of the church. and if he says 'you fool" which today we say "you idiot" is in danger of going to hell. the road of destruction is broad and many people take that road. the raod to life is very narrow and few find it. people that hate on other people with their words thoughts and actions are people that haven't lost thier lives to find life. their pride is still their life... the pride of life, the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh... the argumentative lust of the flesh... the carnal minded baby christian brat

a main reason I find...thin skin/ overly sensitive people vs. undersenitive.
I fall into the 2nd group and usually sparks fly with the 1st group.

Lol. Is that really what they were saying? I checked it out on youtube, and the English caption is barely working. But I get the gist of it.

Words like 'too' and 'over/overly' ('under' too) are still not clearly defined and can never be, because what's 'too/overly' for one person isn't that for another: too much, too cold, over-confident, overly nice; the list is endless.

There are differing levels of sensitivity, not just two types. Besides pride, people fight because they are different. Rom. 12:6-8 tells us about seven character sets (gifts) that make people see the world differently. This means there are seven main levels of sensitivity. Here are examples of each gift in everyday people and in the Bible:

Kevin has a car accident and ends up in the hospital. Seven of his close friends visit him (each one having one of the seven Rom. 12:6-8 character sets (Grace gifts)). Here are their different responses:

Ashley (prophecy: strong sense of right and wrong and speaks out against compromise and evil). She asks Kevin if there might be anything that could have led up to the accident, trying to weed out potential problems in his life. People with this gift can make good counselors. Peter displays this gift, was first to speak out, and exhorted the people to repent (Acts 2).

Erica (serving: driven to demonstrate love by meeting practical needs). She asks Kevin if he needs errands run for him while he's in the hospital or if he needs her to bring him anything. Can make good manual labor workers. Timothy displays this gift and was therefore able to work tirelessly, serving the needs of the churches under Paul.

Steve (teaching: passionate about discovering and validating truth). He asks Kevin for details about what led up to the accident, how it happened, and what happened after. Can make good detectives. Luke displays this gift. We have the Books of Luke and Acts because Luke set out detail precisely, for someone else (the "excellent Theophilus"), the life and ministry of Jesus and His apostles for the. (Lk. 1:1-4; Acts 1:1-3.)

Rob (exhorting: wants to see people grow to be their very best). He encourages Kevin over and over that he'll be alright and back to life in no time at all. Can make good team cheerleaders. Paul displays this gift; he was always able to see good despite the worst, and he never got tired of exhorting multiple churches with multiple people and families in each.

Becca (giving: wants to use financial resources wisely in order to give to meet the needs of others). She asks Kevin for his rent/utilities and monthly bill information and asks when each is due so she can pay them while he's in the hospital. Can make good project supporters. Some of the women and people who ministered to Jesus' needs on earth displayed this gift.

Jon (leader/organizer: able to discern others' talents and seeks to delegate tasks accordingly to accomplish a goal). He asks Kevin what all he needs while in the hospital, then later talks to the others to coordinate their schedules, etc. and work out a plan to always have one of them beside Kevin for the next several days. Can make good project coordinators and supervisors. Joseph displays this gift and was made a prince in Egypt because of his ability to organize and coordinate things perfectly.

Aaron (mercy: is sensitive to the emotional and spiritual needs of others). He asks Kevin how he is feeling and is the most willing of the rest to stay with or go see Kevin regularly. Can make good nurses. The apostle John displays this gift; he knew that Jesus needed emotional support and was the only apostle at His crucifixion, and he stressed Love in his epistles.

Not all is lost is a statement of truth as God never gives up on us. I went over a year without reading the bible because I got seriously bogged down with the issues of life. When I left Maine earlier this year to return to Florida my bible got left behind. One day there was a package in the mail that a woman from this site had mailed to me out of concern for my spiritual well being. I now, once again, am reading the bible on a regular basis. This same woman also sent me a hand-crafted little place mat type of thing for coffee mugs as she knows that I love coffee. I did not want to soil this little thing with coffee so I decided to place my bible on top of it to keep it safe and clean. I call this my bible cozy.

This same woman and I started to exchange snail mail along with emails writing about our past lives and how we came to be the persons that we are now today. Soon, thereafter we started to talk on the phone at night for hours at a time. She is a wonderful woman and I fell deeply in love with her and she fell deeply in love with me. We both believe that God has caused our paths to cross. We are planning on becoming husband and wife next month and live the rest of our lives together loving each other, growing closer to God and serving Him. I prayed for God to allow me to know happiness. She makes me happy.

I have noticed this, not just on CC but on any Christian forum I am apart of. I believe these two verses sum it up nicely:

Proverbs 18:2, "Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions."
Matthew 24:11-13, "
and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."
