A Study of the Scriptures: All the Stories in the Bible.
This is a Bible study so as to discuss all the stories in Scripture.
All stories will be attempted to be told in chronological order.
How am I defining a story within this Bible study?
I believe most stories in the Bible are life stories. Life stories in the Bible (Whether generic or specific) is what classifies a true story in my opinion. For example: The story of the Exodus is not an isolated story in and of itself. It is a part of the story of Moses and His people. Neither is Noah's drunkenness and his cursing of Canaan it's own story, but it is just one chapter in the life story of Noah. Also, most prophecies or the relaying of brief information on certain people in the Bible that does not give us a complete picture or enough information to draw us in personally is not a story. Some parables are stories and others are not stories.
The Bible has interrupting storylines that overlap or intersect with one another. However, the entirety of another person's life story that interrupts another person's life story will be put on hold until the present current story line is completely told. Only the first chapter or introduction of the interrupting life story will be provided (for brief discussion) and then the previous story line will then resume. The interruption of the first chapter is allowed because each story in the Bible that takes place chronologically should be mentioned so as to fit a numbered story list. For example: Lot's story interrupts Abraham's story at various times. However, only Lot's first interrupting chapter of his life story (That intersects with Abraham's story that is about Lot expressing to Abraham that there is not enough land for his sheep) will be mentioned during the telling of Abraham's story. After Abraham's story is completely told, will Lot's entire story be examined (With a re-cap of the 1st chapter).
I believe God provides us with interrupting stories lines because God desires to interrupt the story of our lives with His story.
Warning: Please Read Thread Rules Below Before Posting.
Rule #1. This is not a debate thread. This is a study thread. If you disagree with an interpretation or view expressed here, you can say how you disagree in one or two sentences, but you must provide a link to a new thread (or one that was previously created in the past) to produce your reasons as to not interrupt the purpose of this study.
Rule #2. I will put forth the stories and nobody else. Please no random mention of God's stories or a general discussion of the stories within the Bible. If you disagree with how the stories are put forth, state your reasons briefly in one or two sentences and provide a link to another thread to discuss such a thing. The purpose of this study is to stay on track with discussing the stories of the Bible. This is not a thread about the debate of the chronology of the Bible or about how you disagree with someone. This is a Bible Study thread which is supposed to help enrichen your beliefs about the stories in God's Word. Also, the chronology is one proposed chronology to help the reader have an idea of the over all picture of God's story (The chronology is not meant to be authoratative).
Rule #3. Stay on point with only the story being currently discussed. No past story discussions that are really old. Please try and discuss only the current story under discussion. Granted, I will allow a few comments after a story has just passed, but such discussion should not continue on and on so as to interupt the current story discussion or study. If you want to add to a past story discussion (that has been over for a long while), start another thread. The purpose is to stay on point with each of the stories. This would also include refraining from telling a story that is still yet future for us to discuss, too. If you feel a story has been missed, please PM me and I will be happy to discuss it with you.
