We aren't here to go to lacrae concerts, where here to praise Jesus. Need a praise Jesus concert.

Just going to drop this here. DA' T.R.U.T.H. – Heartbeat Lyrics | Genius Lecrae is just man, everyone see his platform, but nobody knows his struggle. It amazes me, how the secular can support him but his own brothers and sisters in christ cannot. How people will criticize him and say he is false before praying for him. Reminds me of our savior.

Also Anomaly is amazing.

Is there anything the LORD cannot sanctify?

I have always had a saying, "Everything was created for the glory of God, if it does not glorify God, it is vanity."

The vanity in music is what gets on my nerves, but when it used to glorify God, there is something special about it.

For instance, there are those that would not give country music even a glance, but who can help but get up and do at least a slide or even a knee slap listening to this blue grass?

I think if it's innocent and about Jesus, go for it, Let your spirit speak to you about what's right for you, but remember what you fill yourself with you will project to the world. The mind should be closely guarded from intruders. I know this guy raps good and raps about God but he also raps about the world in a witty way. Even though this guy shouts for God, he wants to fit in with the world, you can't serve two masters. When people go to his concert or listen to he's music, are you thinking about God? Or are you thinking about how cool this guy is and how good he raps, and how cool this sounds ...for you, not God. Lacraes struggles and his good times and bad times, what's he driving in today? Did he when the award? it's not about me or lacrea, it's about Jesus. You should feel good when your in the spirit just with Jesus on your mind and singing or humming to Him, not for us.

I'm not knocking anyone that listens though because sometimes I check out what's new, like with No Malice "formally Malice" from the clipse pusha t's brother.. I was in to the hardest stuff when it comes to rap, so I can understand the want. Just saying what I think to be true.

I don't believe he's just wanting to fit into the world, he loves the hip hop sound, he's loved it since he was a little kid. He used to rap worldly in front of crowds as a child, got saved and now does it for Jesus. If he wanted to fit in with the world, he would compromise and rap about money sex and whatever else. He's doing what he loves and is doing it to the glory of God. In anything you do, do it to the glory of God. You probably won't hear him on secular radio stations, or flame or trip Lee for that matter because they don't agree with its message.

Christian rap has a purpose. Christian rap IS good. In order to minister and spread the Gospel to someone, you have to speak that person's language. Paul wouldn't minister to the Greeks speaking Hebrew, would he? No. That'd be silly. They'd just look at him funny, and wouldn't understand what he was trying to get across to them. They'd probably get turned off to him pretty fast.

Music is a universal language, but there's different "languages" within music. We call them genres. Certain sounds and certain rhythms can really strike a chord within someone. If you try to show a country song to someone who hates country, don't you think they'd get pretty annoyed with it pretty fast? Wouldn't they be confused on why you're making them listen that, when that's not what their "language?" Sure, some people might be "multi-lingual," but there's going to be one primary "language" they're going to stick with, which is the one they've known all their life. If that is rap, then show them the rap music that glorifies Jesus. If it's country, show them the country music that glorifies Jesus. If it's techno, then show them the techno music that glorifies Jesus. And it is completely okay if Christians listen to it, too, because it wasn't just made for the lost, it was also made to help minister to the already saved. To ENCOURAGE THEM.

Well, that's all I got. Peace!

I listen to christian rap every day. Besides worship and contemporary music, christian rap is my all time favorite. For those who think christian rap is bad, i don't see how. Secular rap and/or secular music (for the most part) is awful. I don't listen to any secular music. I listen to Lecrae and Andy Mineo all the time. :) I love Lecrae's new CD "Anomaly" which reached number one in both christian and secular music. :)

If I rap about whatever I want and mention God like two times in the song that's 3min, am I rapping about God or me? Does this music please me or God, or do you look to please both at the same time, I'm ok with the teens and people listening, but don't substitute this for worship music, their different, I think any

He wasn't rapping about whatever he wanted. He was rapping about how he USED to be, and how he's a new creation in Christ. See, that's also what Lecrae raps about. He raps about real life. He raps about the struggles he had, and how he tried to do it all on his own. How his efforts were worthless without Christ. How he now has Christ and he's living free now from those things. I'm not saying you should substitute it for worship music. I didn't say that anywhere in my post, and I wouldn't even think about that. I personally love contemporary Christian (which is most worship music out there). Of course they're different. And of course both have a purpose.

See, my conclusion is, you can think what you want about those people, but until you've actually sat down and talked with them, known the life they lived, you have no right to judge them like that. It seems you don't want to think that there's anything good about Trip Lee's or Lecrae's music. That's okay, though. Lecrae isn't held by your standards. He's held by God's.

If it's a start for you and you like it ..cool, go with what speaks to you, why are you saying I'm judging him? I'm just saying some of it, isn't for me is all, your right it's not my standard, got nothing to do with me, I'm just trying to help you guys a little, let's not be just hiphop but also what are Heavenly Dad wants us to be, which is just christian, help others, stand up for the weak, studying hard, staying out of trouble, telling others how you found Jesus, being the example, that's all I want for you all, just good stuff...

Ehh... I honestly can't stand rap. Never been able to get into it. to me it seems to take no skill. Just some electronic beats and then some rhymes thrown into the mix. Technically anyone can rhyme and use a computer to make music.

Another thing I thought about, I used to listen to the hard secular stuff, I was in pain,it all started out of pain with rap, these guys didn't have Jesus, they didn't have anything for that matter but pain and expressed it by rap, I related to pain, it was my world and I excelled in pain, ...now I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free, devils got no control over you or me, don't remind yourself of pain, if you still find joy in it like my little brother kingsunderstanding, so be it, sing it because your happy He saved you from a world of hurt, I want to feel how excited you are to be with God, what about other expression, like poetry, art, singing, dancing, and other things, just my opinion brothers and sisters, not judging..

Josh Garrels is sort of an hip-hop/contemporary light rock/indie fusion sound..
& not forsaking the element of worship :)

Holy, holy, holy is the lamb
Almighty, almighty, almighty is the Lord

It’s unlocked in his left are the keys to death and hell
And in his other palm are seven stars
Silently circling like seven seals and sounds and seven cycles
Seventy sets of seven are prophesied
Before the king comes from heaven
The earth will quake and men’s hearts will shake
When they hear the war drum
And I’m talking about creator of the mountains
I’m talking about the one who gave up his son
I’m singing about the one who died for everyone
And in his blood he’s giving us real freedom
Brought by one, bought by one son
Someone from the kingdom come

He was, and is, and is to come
Healing the deaf and dumb
His words cut the dark like a sharp weapon light
Wrong or right?
All mankind was blind and he came to give us sight
Wrong or right?
Tell me, what is it about the name of Jesus Christ
It makes men fight within
Against the sin, against the night, dark or light
Day and night
Polarized
This is not a grey matter choice
And don’t blame it on another mans voice
Because time keeps on slipping, into the future
I don’t lose you
You must make a decision soon
Be it life, or death

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lamb
That was slain, that was slain
Worthy is his name, worthy is his name
YHWH
He was, and is, and is to come
He was, and is, and is to come

I love listening to shonlock who was Toby Macs back up singer and lecrae and Tedashi and group 1crew :)

Do anybody listen to Christian rap?

Yea! I listen to some, Lecrae is pretty good but there are better indie rappers out there I believe. Take a listen to 'Destiny Lab' on YouTube. He's an awesome rapper with real good lyrics! I also make my own, you can hear my songs on my site in my signature ;)

I'm not a fan of rap. I used to listen to a lot of secular rap; but I never got into any Christian rap. Just not m thing. I will say this though; To the person above who said rap took no skill, I will kindly disagree.

Very difficult to make GOOD beats, and to actually have a good flow. Sure, anyone could make BAD rap.

It's called the 'JPM' (like BPM, but it's Jesus instead of beats) factor. Presuming something is more Godly based on how many times they say God or Jesus in a song. It's not a new mentality. Though the error in it is blindingly obvious.

Prove that point then! Or else its just more smoke that's blowin???
