Do you go to church on Sunday or the Sabbath? Because some will say you are sinning to go to church on Sunday.
Personally, I go to church on Saturday as that is the Sabbath, But I have no problem with anyone who goes to church on Sunday. It's not a sin to go to church on Sunday. Any and every day you can get to church is a good thing.
The Bible says to work out your own salvation in fear and trembling.Honoring His birth at Christmas is not wrong.Honoring His death at Easter is not wrong. The Bible would have said so if it was.
A better question would be, "Do the Bible, Jesus or the Disciples tell us to celebrate those days?" Even if they were to be as important to Christianity as we say they are, don't you think they would have addressed it somewhere?
The reference to the tree was about building idols from the wood, not Christmas trees. That wasn't even thought of for years later.Has it become commercialized? Yes.But I guarantee you this if we as Christians changed when we celebrated Christs birth to Sept. Hallmark would make a card for it and Walmart would make a decoration for it.
Oh I'm sure they would, but that's not the point. How would you feel if everyone decided to celebrate your birthday 3 months before it happened? And how would you feel if they only reason they chose that particular day was because they wanted to worship other gods at the same time? Wouldn't you rather them celebrate your birthday on your actual birthday? And all the while, you never told them to?
