The land promise is eternal, but it is also conditional based on their faithfulness.
Examples of this would be that Moses when instructed to get the Jews out of Egypt was promised the holy land to, but do to disobeying the Lord when the Lord told Moses to speak to the rock, and Moses struck it instead. Moses was not allowed by the Lord to set foot in the holy land.
Same with Solomon, he already was in the kingdom ( holy land ) and even built the temple, but do to defying the Lord our God and following after pagan wives and customs. The Lord took the kingdom away from him.
The Jews continued to disobey, and when our Lord came in the flesh they denied Him. So the Lord our God gave inheritance to us gentiles as well to spread the good news because they rejected it. The Jews now are not saved unless they accept Jesus as their Messiah.
