Okay, kind of random but this is the singles forum!
I just want to share some thoughts I was thinking about dating and courtship and everything lately.
Does anyone on here feel like if they ever began dating again it would almost be torturous for them? Like it would be better to remain single because of the pain you experience while dating and of the whole...attatchment thing/ title thing of boyfriend girlfriend, all while wanting to be married instead?
I know that's kind of a weird thing to ask, but the way I have honestly been feeling about dating lately is that it just seems more trouble than it bargains for and that it would just be almost useful to just have the individual as a friend, get to know them as a friend, and build a potential relationship through that....although that honestly sounds a little bit mixed up. I don't know, haha. Because it would seem at the same time that the friendship dynamic would double over, so you would be doing the same limbo game with 'being in a relationship' or whatever.
Anyone have any similar experiences here? lol
I've been saying for years that i often prefer to get to know someone as friends before dating. I've slacked a bit on that in recent years, but if the chance ever came up again i would start doing that again.
When i was younger i saw a girl that attracted my attention. I got to know here, we became close friends. 9 months went before i ever even brought up the topic of dating between us. But by then we were close friends who did everything together. The connection we shared was long establish. And i knew my interest was more than a fleeting interest that i convinced myself was the real thing.

Bought a pre-lit wreath (LED lights, wireless, includes a timer). Bought some stuff I could decorate it with. Slightly pricey, but I have no regrets.

Sometimes it's good to just sit and reflect on one's own behavior..
and all I gotta say is that I sound mean sometimes!
and kind of judgmental.
yikes!

Since my last relationship, my thoughts are more or less on par with this thinking also. Friendship and even companionship are great. I really enjoy having exchanges with people and learning from them! But romance? It has lost a lot of its appeal.

I woke up in the middle of the night with this thought. Many people on here always ask if it is by works or grace that live with God in eternity. This is what I came up with. Christians are not "of" the world. (Jn 17:18 As you have sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.) We're sent here on a mission to feed His sheep. (Jn 21:17) We must share the good news so that others can be born again. Don't be influenced by this world, but an influencer of this world. Our mission here has eternal purpose.
So our mission here is to work hard to share the gospel, but it is by grace alone that we go to heaven.

:) Shelly

My roommate and I started watching Friends when we moved in together this summer. We just finished the series last night as we prepare for the last few days living together. We just thought that was funny, and fitting, and sad.

Just coming back from church. The sermon was on 1 Thessalonians 5 where Paul urges us to stay awake, doing what we are supposed to be doing as Christians, not having to concern about when exactly Jesus is coming back for we are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. Therefore, that should be my primary focus, looking forward to the day that Jesus is coming back, and my entire life revolving around that truth, which means things that I consider important simply because I desire it, including being in a relationship and getting married, should not be on top of my main mission. If that is firmly established, then there's no need to be disappointed if that promotion you thought you were getting doesn't happen, the exam you studied so hard to get licensed but don't pass, or even the relationship you put so much effort doesn't materialize. It is so because they are simply "accessory" as to my main goal and focus, which is to live my life as a follower of Christ, loving one another, and spreading and sharing the good news. I discovered today that I was still allowing certain things in my life that I've been pursuing, as a way of defining my life and my value when they were just accessory. Only God, who created me and purchased me through the blood of Christ, can define my identity and worth.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Sometimes reading the forums remind me of teaching middle school. I wonder why that is?

I had a coupon for a FREE COOKIE at a local little Hole-In-The Wall cafe (literally... they had mixers, baking pans, everything--crammed into little holes of spaces in the tiny little place) I'd never tried before. And who am I to pass up free food? And so, after going to a new church, it was off to check out a new eatery as well. (Yes, I go by myself.)

The pancakes were... pancakes. It's hard to mess up pancakes, you think? (I just don't like it when they're overdone.) The homefries were really good. The cookie (Rocky Road) was awesome but nothing out of the ordinary.

The omelet, however, really blew me away. Not only was it perfectly tender, but I was thoroughly impressed to see that they'd used fresh baby bella mushrooms instead of just plain white button mushrooms. (I'm no gourmet like so many of the others here, I only know because I regularly buy white button mushrooms and pass up the bellas, only due to expense.)

For any of the CC peeps who brave it out to my little corner of the world... I think I may have found a little hometown place to take you. *Expectantly waits for her doorbell to ring.*

I'm on my way!

Oh...and, just so you know. Since you invited, you get to pay! I'm a liberated male and am totally okay with that! :D

I wouldn't have anything to do with you becoming a mushroom connoisseur now, would I?

So the other day it was 22 degrees snow everywhere, today 52 degrees green everywhere. It's like I did all of that shoveling for nothing! I could have waited until today for it to melt. Who needs to leave their driveway anyhow?

Alas Cat, I must admit that I was familiar with baby bellas (and even portobellas!) long before I asked you for "Mushroom Expertise". However, if I should ever encounter crimini, shiitake, or truffles, I am going to need a Field Guide... and a tutor. I'm guessing you'd be a good candidate so here... Please be sure to fill out an application. :D

You know, Mister, this is actually the SECOND time in a thread in which you've publicly stated that you wouldn't stop me from paying for a meal for you (last time, if I remember correctly, it involved a Happy Meal.)

You don't have to be so coy about it. I CAN take a hint, you know!!!

Obviously, YOU ARE TESTING ME.

(To see if I actually have a job.)

Good grief. The lengths one has to go to in order to impress some people around here...

(That omelet was how I wish my dates WOULD be--something to replay, ponder and think about... without having asked any inappropriate questions. Or trying to run their hands through my hair.)

Sigh. A girl can dream. Or at least... have another omelet in the meantime.

It was probably cream cheese. If you melt in just a bit of cream cheese in the eggs they turn out really fluffy and creamy.
