Im going through the same thing as you, be of good cheer for God has overcome and in all honesty you just know better that God will get you outta there. I am in the same boat and things are improving, just surrender to God even more and seek Him more, as much as it hurts its worth it.

Yes, he can. But numerous people here keep talking as if all he needs to do is pray. Instead of telling him to pray and seek medical treatment, they act as if all he needs to do is pray.

It reminds me of a tale I was told in which a priest was on the roof of his church during a flood. Three times people tried to rescue him but he kept saying, "God will save me" and refused the help. When he died, he asked why his prayers to be saved were never answered. God said "I sent three teams of men to rescue you, but you denied them". People are essentially telling him to refuse help around him and to stay on the roof of that building while flood waters rise.

Yup. Could be Schizophrenia. But, there's nothing that God cannot heal or take away. Jesus always mentioned demon oppression and diseases together. Beautifulsoldier said that his family, friends, or pastors could not help him. He has claimed to have visited the hospital 50 times. And, his family thinks he has schizophrenia. It appears that doctors and psychiatrists could not help him either.

3. He has to be open to the idea that he might be schizophrenic before he can be helped. As long as he believes he most definitely doesn't have schizophrenia, he's not going to receive the help he needs.

Though I'm a strong believer in Science and medicine, being an initial Science student myself, I still do know that the name of Jesus is the most powerful weapon that we own and possess, since Jesus has dominion over everything.

It's okay to suggest he prays, but we can't lead him on to think he shouldn't seek medical help. As damombomb said, there's no reason he can't do both.

Encouraging him to pray as well as praying for him, is probably the best gift we could give him.

Oh, wow. You've taken what I said out of context. I don't quite appreciate the fact that you've put words into my mouth. No where have I stated that all a person needs to do is pray, and do nothing else. I am a firm believer that God wants us to work hard. From wherever we are, we can't help the OP out physically. I definitely cannot. So, obviously the best thing I can do for him is pray for him. How is praying for him and encouraging him to pray, telling him to not do anything else?

I have never been the type to just sit and pray and never work for what I need in life. My dad once told me that my dreams can never die unless I kill them. And, everyday I work towards that. But, that is something only I can do, with God's help. Everyone else (especially those miles away) can help me through prayer, because that is a blessing in itself. That's what I meant. I never denied that it could be schizophrenia or some mental disorder.

Furthermore, only the OP knows what he's really going through. Honestly, he hasn't asked for help on this thread. He made it to berate God and tell everyone else that God is mean to him.
Note that he states, "The point if this post is to tell you that God is mean. Be careful when you say God I give my life to you or I want to be close to you or I'll do anything for you. Salvation comes with a price. Jesus said you have to carry your cross. Paul said you have to go through sufferings. Just be careful because God can hurt you really bad."

Yet, people here, are being nice and praying for him. I don't get mad when people say bad things about me, but I do get really upset when people say bad things about my God. Yet, I felt in my heart that I ought to pray for this man, and encourage him to seek God. That was the purpose of my first post. The purpose of my second post was to let you know that it could be schizophrenia, but, as online folk what we can do for the man is pray for him. Many people have already told him to get checked for schizophrenia. So, I didn't see the point in doing the same. Moreover, you are right. He needs to consider that he could have the disorder.Unless he does so, whatever everyone else says can go right over his head.

Just want to let you know that I didn't get offended. Seems like my previous post comes across as a bit strong. I know that we all make assumptions from time to time. And, I wanted to let you know that you may have interpreted my posts differently from what I meant to portray through them.

Oh, and I did major in Psychology, and chose Abnormal Psychology as my final year subject. So, I do know quite a bit about mental disorders and did visit quite a few psychiatric hospitals and institutions for my projects, so as to learn first-hand. Just so you know =) Also, I have about 20 odd friends working as psychiatrists/psychologists. I didn't go down that path. Looks like God had something else in mind for me. =) Ah, for what it's worth, I hold a Psychology degree! =P

we feel some of what David felt, but do we feel it all? do we also react with the same heart David did?

Psalms 49:7 none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him.

giving your life to God is more than giving your drinking and smoking habits to Him. it's giving your LIFE to Him. that includes your mind, and your heart - not just your soul and your body. the things that only God can do, we have to let only God do, and trust Him, and come only to Him with the things we face that only He can help with, laying those things at His feet.
if the only thing you did was give up some bad habits - yes, God will take your whole life, mind, body and spirit -- and RENEW them and turn the old things new! our old self is crucified and a new life is born. crucifixion can be quite a shock to your carnal self. God is more than a voice in your ear, and not every voice in our ears is His. to some extent no one can control what they hear. be careful what you listen to.
