Mat 27 :
5 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Luk 23:
44 And it was now about the sixth hour, and a darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45 the sun’s light failing: and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
Yes, it was black, though we are accustomed to calling it good Friday.
I don't recall anything about Black Friday when I lived in Manchester in the 1970's, not that I was much of a shopper then, rather a poor student. We did most of our shopping in small shops; green grocer for vegetables, butcher for meat, soft drinks at the News shop, iron mongers for hardware -- and I must not leave out the rag bone man from whom I bought a used doll house for a few bob.
