Ok. If that's what you believe. I believe that the greatest apostasy was that of rejecting Jesus Christ and crucifying Him. I also believe that before His second coming there will be another apostasy. However, I read the apocalyptic discourse of Jesus Christ as referring to things which will happen soon. Judgment has been passed on Israel (for their great sin of apostasy) but had not yet been executed. For instance, you have the parable of the fig tree that must be cut off for not bearing fruits. And the master says "I'll give the fig tree one more year" and if after one year it doesn't bear fruits, than I will cut it. And what happened to Israel? They didn't repent (as a nation). So, a great disaster came upon them: the Romans soldiers destroyed the temple and Jerusalem.
In my opinion, that was the punishment for their disbelief. After the destruction of the temple, the threat prophesies against Israel stopped.
Jesus Christ himself prophesied the destruction of the temple by chasing out the real defilers: Jews who were doing commerce in the House of His Father.
Also, when Christ entered Jerusalem, He was fulfilling the prophesy that God will return to Zion and destroy all of Israel's enemies. Only that the traditional enemy of Israel (Babylon) had been replaced by sin. Sin and evil is the enemy that had to be destroyed and it has been destroyed on the cross! That's why the Jews got upset when Pilates wrote "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews". They asked Pilates to remove "the King of the Jews" because they didn't accept that He is the Messiah.
In Christ incarnation, sacrifice and resurrection a new dawn has come; the kingdom of God is here, in the Church.
