I have a extra large print used it for 15 years, I"ve taken notes at sermons, notes from seminars, my personal cf; there's not even room in the borders. Is it disrespectful to write in the Bible?

i hope not, because i do it, too. :)

fill one up, place it on the shelf, thank God for another...

lather, rinse, repeat!

I actually draw on the pages like this along with writing: Also helps me find things faster.

no, I do not. just can't bring myself to do it. but no, I don't think it's disrespectful.

Write quick key word reminders............use yellow highlighter thingy............also have page markers........

No, why would it be disrespectful? Are we not to digest the Word of God?

I have filled up many Bibles, margins and notes at the back. The paper isn't holy, it is the Words in them.

Writing in my Bible helps me hide those words of life in my heart! That is what matters.

"11 I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11

Bible pages are so thin, I don't know how they stand up to anything other than a few notes and highlighted passages. I don't think it's disrespectful at all but I can't bring myself to write in any book, let alone the Word of God. And yes, I know it's the content, not the physical book that's super-important but I still can't bear to write in it. For those who can though, that's awesome. It visually shows how they interact with the Word.

I dont think it's disrespectful as in the reader do it to better understand it right?
I love your drawings too Joidevivre.
I use like a marker, and then different colors for different subjects.

The pages I showed you are only one bible. There is another one for note taking along the wide margins on the side and underlining. I also have one with nothing in it because I don't like to have my eye drawn to any one part when I re-read it.

Bibles that you underline or write will be passed down to future generations, and they will know more about what meant something to you. It is like a legacy of your walk with the Lord. I already have 11 grandchildren - someone will be blessed by my bibles. And there will be enough to go around.

That word is like the Bat signal to Stilly.
:p

I study & read the Word of God online so it's rather difficult to write anything on the computer screen. (heehee) ;)

But yes, my two old Bibles have writing in them. I'm in agreement with everyone here that I don't think it's disrespectful.

Not that it matters to anyone I think, but I think I meant highlighter, and not a marker.. :p

hey, don't they have those nifty computers now on which you can write notes?

yeah...i'm not gettin' one, either. ;)

Oh - but the smell of a new leather bible. Nothing like it. No computer could match it.
