curiously, what is it that you object to? the low budget amateur approach? lack of plot/story/premise development? or the blatant agenda?

i tend to really get bored with flat characters. one note characters. people who are singly "good" or "bad" instead of a more realistic approach--flawed and imperfect.

anyway, i'm sort of curious what it is that you're so objecting of.
Oh, most things. Message over entertainment, no understanding of the metaphoric language of movies, sermonising (altar calls etc.), lack of depth (basic and uninteresting - borderline insulting to the intelligence), poor acting and theology, poorly-written, saccharine and thoroughly dishonest, flat and unrealistic characters and situations. I'm sure there are some good ones out there but I've yet to see many. I'll see if I can rustle up a few more (Babette's Feast is apparently very good, but I haven't seen it - yet). Love Prince of Egypt, but that's more Jewish than Christian.

out of curiosity (and due to the fact that i haven't watched many) what christian movies do you think are well done? i'm sort of looking for recommendations.
Uh... that's difficult, there are so very few of them. Passion of the Christ, Luther, um...
Luther is excellent. I also really like The Mission (I'm not sure it is a "Christian movie" but it makes you think and the main protagonists are Jesuit priests (yes the Jesuits have some nasty stuff in their history too, but this is about the movie and how it inspires people). End of the Spear, based on Steve Saint's story, is also an excellent movie and one where faith is a fact of life for the characters instead of preachy.

Yes, The Mission would be considered a Christian movie. I haven't seen it in years though. And yes, End of the Spear was rather good. Thanks for jogging my memory, my dear sister. :)

Funny forum moments: The thread titled Build a boyfriend was followed by the thread titled Why does it seem so many Christian women are looking for an imaginary man (or something like that).

Also, To End All Wars - starring Jack Bauer from 24, I mean, Kiefer Sutherland.

I think I'm regressing. I now have so many books on my e-reader that I had to go through and write down on a piece of paper which ones I hadn't read yet and wanted to read. It's my Christmas vacation reading list: 8 books and 1 short story in 1 week if I finish all of them.

Yes that one was good and horrific all at the same time (about Japanese POW's in WWII).

Tell me about it! I have over 70 books on my To Read list. It won't decrease!

Eh? Reading as a chore to get done? I begin to get the impression reading is drudgery.

Give me some of those books, I'll read them for you. :D

Not a chore to get done. A huge expansive frontier that I might get lost in and never return from if I don't have a map to guide me. Oh and Silly kitty, books are for bookworms.

Reading isn't a chore! I may have dyslexia, but I learned to love reading around 7 or 8 years old (due to Narnia, Tintin and the Hardy Boys). My To Read list doesn't get any shorter because, yes, even though I read many books, I can't help regularly adding more to the list.

Spending the afternoon helping to cut up and package elk meat. Grateful that my family will be fed off it for a while...but...nah, I'll leave it at just grateful.

I dunno about elk, but that deer roast we had about a week and a half ago at the men's wild meat supper was flat-out GOOD! I had leftovers on a sandwich Friday morning and it was every bit as good.

That sure will help with the grocery bill.

It couldn't possibly taste good since it isn't loaded with the artificial growth hormones, antibiotics, etc. that our palates have been trained to enjoy. :p

Actually from what I've experienced, wild game of any type can tend to taste pretty gamey unless the cook knows how to properly prepare the specific meat.
