I'm just saying: either there is one Holy Spirit leading people into many
versions of the truth, or there are several Holy Spirits each leading people
into their own particular version of the truth.

So we might translate John 16:13 like this:

When He, the Spirit of truths comes, He will guide you into all the truths

Or maybe like this:

When they, the Spirits of truth come, they will guide you into all their truths

===================================

Come on, mate! There's also a third option and it's already been discussed.

:( This is an honest to God question. If all Christians have the Holy Spirit, why are there so many different denominations, teachings and so much confusion in the faith?

Don't fight.

[h=1]Ephesians 4:4-8King James Version (KJV)[/h]4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

That might be what your denomination's Holy Spirit says; but not every
denomination's Holy Spirit would agree.

======================================

Denominations have nothing to do with it. That's what the Bible implies God in plural but one God.

[h=1]1 John 4 King James Version (KJV)[/h]4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

That might be what your denomination's Holy Spirit says; but not every

1 John 5:8
And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these threeagree in one.

I have an honest question, and not trying to pick but i've noticed you don't really say Jesus. You refer to Him as Messiah. Obviously I haven't read every post of yours but it's something I noticed, why is that? I mean His name is greater than any other name and all will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father.
I hate to think that you underestimate His name, that which I have no pleasure to think, please forgive me for asking.

Actually, in English, His Name is "Joshua" so I don't know where we got Jesus from but I use it as well because that's the Name I've known since a child and everyone else knows. I prefer Messiah as well, but that gets sticky too - because the same people that will defend Israel, will turn on anyone that comes anywhere near using Jewish terms or names.

Sad world - Can't wait until He delivers us, when He comes again.

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Tintin makes a great point in saying it's the "little things" with which might be different in the denominations. The one main point that all true Christian denominational church's is the Gospel of Christ. If the church has a "Jesus first" based teaching then it's part of the body of Christ. Once a church is outside the teaching of the Gospel of Christ it can no longer be called a True Christian church.
[h=1]2 Corinthians 11:4King James Version (KJV)[/h]4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

I think you should consider the possibility that this Holy Spirit thing is all a
hoax.

========================================

And I think you should consider that you're on a Christian website and that you're probably not 70 years old.

4 For whenever someone says, “I’m with Paul,” and another, “I’m with Apollos,” are you not unspiritual people? 5 What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, and each has the role the Lord has given. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 Now the one planting and the one watering are one in purpose, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are God’s coworkers.[e] You are God’s field, God’s building. 10 According to God’s grace that was given to me, I have laid a foundation as a skilled master builder, and another builds on it. But each one must be careful how he builds on it. 11 For no one can lay any other foundation than what has been laid down. That foundation is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3

I believe Paul is addressing the beginnings of denominations here. People are completely fallible, getting the answers wrong many times but our gracious Father uses us to build his temple in others despite our struggles with our flesh. He is the foundation, He causes growth, He is the vine. All the different denominations are men doing their best to look through the glass darkly.

No worries!

I love the Saviors Name, I prefer to use Yahshua, because His name actually was something like Yahshua/Yahushua. The reason I use Messiah alot is because many are not familiar with Yahshua and Messiah is a term all can understand.

Yah = Yahweh's

Shua = Salvation

*thumbs up* gotcha, thanks! :)

All the different denominations are men doing their best to look through the
glass darkly.

Well; no doubt they certainly are doing "their" best, but what should concern
all of us is why they are not doing the Holy Spirit's best.

†. John 17:20-23 . . I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also
who believe in me through their word; that they may all be one; even as
you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us; that the
world may believe that you sent me. And the glory which you have given me
I have given to them; that they may be one, just as we are one; I in them,
and you in me, that they may be perfected in unity.

Christ prayed for a category of Christians whom he labeled "those", "they",
and "them". The antecedents of those pronouns are located in John 17:1-2

"Glorify your son, that your son may glorify you. For you granted him
authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have
given him."

Well; needless to say, Christians who lack eternal life are not the Christians
for whom Christ prayed in John 17:20-23. In point of fact, according to his
Father's testimony, as an expert witness in all matters pertaining to His own
son, Christians who lack eternal life do not have God's son. In other words:
they are quite christless.

†. 1John 5:11-12 . . This is what God has testified: He has given us eternal
life, and this life is in His son. So whoever has God's son has this life; and
whosoever does not have this life, does not have His son.

I should think that it goes without saying that christless Christians are in
grave danger of the sum of all fears.

†. Rom 8:9 . . If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not
belong to Christ.

How many christless Christians are there? Well; for starters: the Roman
Catholic Church-- known everywhere as the largest single denomination in
the world --currently consists of approximately 1.2 billion adherents who all,
to a man, including the Pope, insist that no one obtains eternal life till they
die and cross over to the other side. Well; that can mean but one thing, and
one thing only: seeing as how those 1.2 billion souls are currently lacking
eternal life, then according to 1John 5:11-12 they are currently quite
christless. And you can safely apply that rule to any, and all, denominations
who insist that nobody obtains eternal life till they die and cross over to the
other side.

In the passages below, note the grammatical tense of the "have" verbs.
They're in the present tense; not future, indicating that believers have
eternal life right now-- no delay, and no waiting period.

†. John 3:36 . .He who believes in the Son has eternal life

†. John 6:47 . .Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

†. John 5:24 . .I assure you, those who heed my message, and trust in God
who sent me, have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins,
but they have already passed from Death into Life.

†. 1John 5:13 . .I write these things to you who believe in the name of the
Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Dear friends and loved ones, we have not received the Holy Spirit.

The disciples in the past have baptised people with Holy Spirit. The people who baptised are the ones that had the Good news Just like you and me today, and they believed in Jesus Christ just like and me today, and they baptised in water just like you and me today and they did not receive Holy Spirit. As soon as the disciples laid their hands on them and prayed to God, the people receive Holy Spirit.
So tody we say that we have been baptised in holy Spirit and we say that we have receive Holy Spirit and the Gift of the Holy Spirit. If you have receive Holy Spirit then who is that disciple laid his hand on you and you receive the Holy Spirit? Name that Disciple please?

If you can not name the disciples then we have to find it now?
