you are wrong
is it lawful to light fire on the sabbath ?
Under the law...there lots of rules regarding the Sabbath ...that do not apply to those of use not under the law...but those who "claim" to keep the Sabbath should keep all the laws of the Sabbath...but they don't!

According to mans understanding of the written code...but He knew the law was not in the letter...and said he was greater than the Sabbath anyway..
The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.

No He is saying that that the Sabbath was a shadow of Christ ...and when we cease from our own works (of the law) we enter into the substance , which is Christ. Rabbinical law was not even established at this point in history...it came after the Jews lost the temple...
Messiah raised the bar, if you knew Him you would know that.

[h=1]Exodus 35:3King James Version (KJV)[/h]3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.

[h=1]Matthew 12:5King James Version (KJV)[/h]5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

The priest lit fire on the sabbaths just for something for you to think about

Sabbath was made for man/woman! Amen! This is truth, I love Sabbath. It keeps me. It is a delight it is healing, it is a sign between my Maker and me. It proclaims to all atheists that our Creator Lives and will never die, and His Word is the only thing in this world that we can trust. He does not lie, ever.

Ponder what? I know the Sabbath was only a shadow of Christ...and we have to cease from our own works to enter into hHis rest...so whats to ponder except those who claim to keep the Sabbath but don't keep all the rules in the law regarding the Sabbath? ponder that :)

Good read this :)

Ro 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Galatians 3:19-24King James Version (KJV)

19 Wherefore then serveth the law? ( ceremonial not the ten ) It ( ceremonial )was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law ( ceremonial ), shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law (ceremonial )was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
in verse 19, it says that the law was ADDED because of transgression. Now if this is also talking about the ten commandments, the moral law of God, then what was it ADDED to? There is nothing to add it to.

But if we take this verse in truth and apply it to the ceremonial laws and the priestly service, then it makes sense. The ceremonial laws were ADDED to the ten commandments, BECAUSE OF SIN AGAINST THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. Do you see this? So then, the "schoolmaster" is the priestly service, containing the ceremonial laws, which pointed to Christ Jesus, as He became our sacrifice for sin, and our High Priest.

The Sabbath is a day of rest. We can see divisions amongst good intentions of people who are Christians over what day of the week we should meet together. The day isn't the issue...true, we should not forsake assembling our selves together that is a fact. But divisions over certain days and so forth are just that divisions. We are in battles today in a war that was already won by the precious blood of Jesus at Calvary for you and for me. We are the body of Christ. Our commission is to Go ye into a lost and dying world and tell them what Jesus did on the cross many year shench for them. To tell them that he loves them just as they are. To tell that eternal life can be theirs not by them being good but by the blood of Jesus. They cannot earn it , we cannot earn it,.. salvation is a gift of God paid for by Jesus for all here. Yes we can discuss many things in scripture that we all may not agree on but at some point when we step into glory for ever we will know as we are known. For now we do need to continue in the word to knw the truth that the truth will set us free,...... free from what? the law of sin and death. Free from man made rules that divide the body of Christ. Look at what was said to the 7 churches in revelation and and we will get an idea moreso of what God's will is for us today. God is good he is just and he is all in all. Can we agree to praise him as we come boldly to His throne of grace? Not by works but by faith in the work of Christ on the cross.

yes for its purpose ... read right before that!

Those who claim to keep parts of it don't uphold its standard ...that's for sure !

Not the ten? have you read the bible?

Ro 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 ¶ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
