Surely it isn't just me often in need of encouragement? Others for various reasons surely need to be picked-up or encouraged by Christian brothers and sisters. Sickness, bereavement, lonely or whatever. In my case I get downtrodden and discouraged by my own family who are either atheist or agnostic. My eldest son in particular is an aggressive atheist and I can take so much before it does eventually get me down...not just because of my own feelings but knowing what he will one day face and imagining his stubborn refusal to accept the saviour even at the very end.

I often feel a need for Christian encouragement so...can we make this thread an encouragement thread?

Agreed. We could all use some sort of encouragement.

I can say I'm on a similar boat as the OP, but the people I'm mainly focused on claim the Catholic title while believing in things that aren't biblical. If not that then it's my own selfish being that places anything as an idol or actions performed that I could probably have better control of.

You know MPW never give up hope and I am sure you don't about your son. Nothing is impossible with God and you keep planting seeds of love to your son and some day you never know something might happen that pushes your son to really think about things and he may have a change of heart and decide that Mom didn't have things wrong after all and you son just might come running to Jesus.

I hold this hope for my daughter as she has confessed to me she is not sure if there is a God or not. I will never give up hope on her and we just keep loving our kids and praying for them. God hears our prayers and I know there are times I might say Lord please do whatever it takes and we don't know what that might be. But I know without a shadow of a doubt that when we ask according to God's will that He does pull out all the stops and will do whatever it takes when it comes to the salvation of souls and God knows that our children's souls are very precious to us. Never give up hope....

And there you have my words of encouragement given to you......Cheerleading Blond out...lol

So great idea for a thread!

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

I used to be agnostic most of my life so do have hope for her.
Truth is she probably already knows but the flesh is choking her spirit and the truth... like I knew all that time but had no Faith.

Sounds a lot like me when questioning as well. Just that you put it in the sentence that you did made me realize this. Especially when it's undeniable, the only refusal one can have is the choice they simply make.

These words are to encourage me today (and maybe someone else):

Why worry about things? What are you looking at? Christ is your REAL life. Keep your focus on Him and all else will melt away.

Happy to see another of these threads up, hope this one stays alive

*hugs* for those who want

Ah yes I can see there are other threads now...and I thought I was being original - d'oh. I hope we can continue to be an encouragement to each other, Heaven knows we need it in this crazy, messed-up world. Kind words cost nothing yet can mean everything to one person at a time when they need it. Thanks everyone for your encouraging words.

If Muslims are seeing dreams and visions of Jesus, even the ones who are radical, God knows how to deal with our loved ones. He loves them more than us.

Personally I would rather have 100 of these threads than 10 "study" threads that everyone argues on. We are a family in Christ we are too encourage each other not tear them down in argument.

To me I think it a shame that an "argument" thread will have 1000 posts and an "encouragement" thread or what I call "a real study thread" will die out in less than 50 posts.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

When I joined CC I thought I would be able to study God's Word with other Christians. Now I rarely comment on subjects in the "Bible discussion" forums. It seems no one really wants to learn but argue their own understanding. I thought it would be nice to actually look at God's Word and dig so deep into the "meat" we would hit bone.

I have started maybe 6 forums on "real study" and not a single one has gone beyond 50 posts (as I remember) because they aren't "argumentive" studies.

If a non Christian were to read most of the threads in the "Bible discussion" forums they wouldn't even know what the Gospel of Christ really is.

It actually really makes me sad. It should be a joy to study God's Word, not a hindrance because of argument.

Yeah I like this thread as it brings out the true nature of the Gospel of Christ....love!

I´m sorry you got discouraged, Elf.

May I suggest you try to find REAL people out to share those studies too?

This served me to understand that issue you commented recently: Luc 8:16 No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl or under a bed. A lamp is always put on a lampstand, so that people who come into a house will see the light.

Walk into those who probably would appreciate that light more.

Thank you. There is one thing for sure though...I won't stop trying to get those type "studies" going here. If these type of studies help even just one person then it was well worth it. I for sure will not hide the light.

Sure! you have His power inside but, as for me, i chose to share it with unbelievers, up to the time they kick me out for telling His truth.

Oh I hear ya! I'll speak the Gospel of Christ until they drag me out. I don't "candy coat" it either which I am sure some find offensive but it's truth. The way I see it if the truth offends them then they don't want the truth they want a "feel good" message. Well the truth hurts some times. It's when the truth hurts that we actually come to Christ for we see how lost we really are.

I thank God for the truth!!!!

I know this is not the BDF, but I always find so much encouragement from the Bible

"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."1 Thess. 5:11

I don't know what "BDF" stands for (lol) but yeah the Bible is for sure the best ever for encouragement. :)

God's Word just calms my heart.

BDF?? Bible Discussion Forum. The place we all need to retreat from, from time to time! LOL
