It's 1 am here in the UK and I can't sleep, all I can think about is going back to work Monday. Help :(

my children find i can usually bore them to sleep...interested? :)

i'm sorry you can't sleep...sometimes i play an audio Bible and am able to get to sleep.
sometimes i climb into bed, pull the down blankets over me, and begin thanking God.
(forget none of His benefits. :) )

i never get to the end, though. ♥

Can relate to that. Had a hard time sleeping last night due to work... And probably also a nice caffeine rush.

Read a book while in bed? Or play relaxing music or some sort of scenery noise?

Thanks all for the advice, some of it I couldn't follow with the hubster also trying to sleep - I don't think he would have appreciated the music or the light being on. I came downstairs and made myself a hot milky drink and soon drifted off after that.

My husband btw is (like the rest of my family) lost. When I first go to bed I usually read my Bible - reading usually makes me sleepy - though not in this instance. Last night he asked why I was reading my Bible backwards lol. I explained that I was reading scripture from the top and then returning to the study part. I then explained how the study bible helped me to understand what life was like when Jesus walked with us on earth, then I showed him that all Jesus' words were in red. I hope this might lead to some curiosity on his part at some time. We can but try eh? ;)

I believe JesusLives would recommend the "begats" to insomniacs. :)

glad you got some sleep, MPW. ♥

"Begats"? Is this an American word?

I slept in this morning and had to go to church without breakfast lol.

nooo, begat belongs on your side of the Pond! :)
from the KJV--

1 Chron 8:33-37

And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
And the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal; and Meribbaal begat Micah.
And the sons of Micah were, Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.
And Ahaz begat Jehoadah; and Jehoadah begat Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza, And Moza begat Binea: Rapha was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son:

now...tell me your eyes didn't glaze over just a tiny bit. lol

JL calls them the begats, in typical superior blonde fashion. :)

that was just part of what i read today, but i read it in the ESV, cos that's the Bible that was handy.

extra bedtime snacks for the lady who missed breakfast! ♥

Read a few choice replies in the BDF........that should help with any future disruptions in your sleeping patterns? :D
Someone can say "that's not nice"----but we all know it's the truth.

I hate it when that happened and I was working. It doesn't matter so much now since they laid me off over a year and a half ago....If I am tired now I just go lay down. But for years when I had a restless night yep I went to work with a smile on my face and a song in my heart and a body that wanted to sing Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.....I was tired all the time maybe that is why they call it Sleep Walking....

I believe my famous Blond saying is..... When I get to the begats I begone.....lol

You sound overwhelmed.
Sleep-work-sleep-work... is not life at all. I often take away from sleep time and sacrifice physical well being in order to make more fellowship, creative or fun time. Because I am not a machine to just sleep and manufacture.
Seems you need time to slow down and relax, not just think about what you have to do next.

SoulWeaver, thank you for your concern and you are correct I am often as you describe but not this time, I had been off work and had a 16 day break from it for Christmas. I couldn't get the dread of going back to work off of my mind - the reason sleep wouldn't come.

I dread every Sunday evening because the new work week starts Monday morning. Therefore I don't sleep well at all Sunday nights.

Do you have bad environment at work (toxic people there)? That would help explain it.

It can be bad yes. For me though the longer the break the harder it is going back. I'm ok now, often the reality isn't as bad as the thought. :)

We rebuke any remaining fear or dread in Jesus' name. We are to have no fear but His fear. Also asking for His amazing favor among and from the other employees. amen
Oh btw, do savour that non-fleeting fruit of responsibility and integrity for doing what is right, although unpleasant. It will make your day so much better.
Isaiah 3:10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

I think part of it MPW is that as we get closer to that retirement age it is harder and harder to muster up the will to get back to the grind as we enjoyed our life for a moment and spent time with family and friends as we should.....I wish I had been a wife back in the 50's maybe I would have enjoyed keeping a clean house as my hubby went off to make the big bucks... But I never in my life have known that situation I have always had to work married the first go round and then to just support myself and my daughter. Time will tell if I will have to enter back into the workforce as I still have 401K funds but it is starting to dwindle down to the you had better pay attention area.

Tourist moved over from Orlando area and he is looking for work, but I might have to join in again myself possibly in 6 months if things don't start looking up job wise. They are building a bunch of stores right across the street from where I live and I am trying to hold out for one of those jobs close to home and possibly part-time.....Everything is fine right now so I am not worried at all just in pay attention mode....lol

SoulWeaver, you are an encouragement. Thank you for being who you are. God bless you.
