A random thought I had at Church this morning. There was a video being played of a sermon (prior to today's sermon) and I noticed the date on the video - 1994, this year was way before I had considered any possibility of God and I was truly pleasing myself and being tempted by something that wasn't of God. I told myself I was unhappy (which I was) and deserved to be happy, that I was old enough to be make my own decisions and I embarked on a sinful relationship in 1994. I remembered the way I thought back then. I had never even considered the possibility of God, to me "religion" was a load of old nonsense and definitely not for me. Even so, deep down in my heart I knew that the way I was living was fundamentally wrong. I didn't nor could I know that God was already preparing a way for me to reach Him. Anyway, I digress...the year 1994 was the year I was as far away from God as I could possibly be.

I'm here at Sakai City in Osaka, Japan with my mom, brother, sister-in-law, and their kids (2 nieces and a nephew). We're staying at my mom's place. She's been living and working here for 30 years now. We've visited here frequently, when there's a cheap flight available. I've been here 5x already, and I love it here it's our first time to visit here during winter time, and the first time we celebrated Christmas and New Year's here (Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!! ). It's crazy cold right now (5 degrees Celsius now), compared to what we have in the Philippines (usually 27-30 degrees Celsius. Currently 23 degrees). But the sights, the food, the cleanliness of the environment, the technological advancements, discipline and helpfulness of Japanese folk is simply WOW I've always been a great admirer of the Japanese culture and the beauty and artistry in this country. Plus, they create really useful and innovative things. Whenever we visit here, there is always something awesome and impressive to see and experience Hmm....maybe I should've posted this in that other thread???
I just finished washing the dishes here (a chore I'm actually quite fond of doing), after my mom made a sumptuous meal for us (Okonomiyaki and Yakisoba). Will be needing to sleep of the night real soon, because tomorrow will be another day of walking around and waiting in line at the amusement park (Universal Studios Japan). We'll be heading back to our country on the 11th, so we better make the most out of the rest of our stay, which has been such a blast (3 weeks in all). I praise and thank Father GOD for letting me see so much beauty in HIS creation, for teaching me to appreciate these unique Japanese people even more, and for giving me and my folks the opportunity to bond as a family

No I didn't doze off I'm running on caffeine and right now I have some new virtual instruments and drum loops to test because a friend asked if I could make a dubstep or breakbeat track and that's dead easy just get some loops and loop and overlay them and maybe put a pad or synth on it after the beat is established but I've never done it before so I didn't have the loops but I found some free loop packs so I'm gonna try my hand at whipping up a breakbeat track before I crash...

I did do more research on Japan's policies and military ideals.
Even reading different versions. I've always wondered, after the dropping of the atomic bomb at Hiroshima, why had Japan not surrendered.
If you look at the Japan then, it was almost completely devastated. It was only a matter of time that Japan should have surrendered. The firebombing of Tokyo alone cost around 100k lives.
To think that the Japanese Empire was solely clouded by their fanaticism felt too suspect to me, though mostly you must be right.

It might surprise you.
However I do not claim to know much of it's veracity.
Frankly, discussing and dissecting the events of the past is not fruitful and I am sure painful too.
My reasons for bringing it up, was to highlight the sufferings of the victims of this atomic attack, which though 70 years ago has pushed things into motion that is hard to undo.
There were secondary effects of America utilizing the atomic bomb leading to peace, like you rightly said. However, was it long term? It put into action things that should be of concern to all of us.
* It led to an arms race and the Cold War, with many countries racing to make themselves capable of nuclear attack.
* Not only the "big" countries were drawn into this, but also tiny, unstable countries.
Their thinking and justification for nuclear weaponization is " Well. What if a 'big' country decides to attack me? What would I do? Nuclear weapons pose a good deterrant! Now I don't ever have to surrender!"
* Currently there are 8 countries with nuclear weapons, and including this group are countries like Pakistan and North Korea.
Pakistan is a highly unstable country.
It's an open secret that their military is in cahoots with the taliban and other murky outfits.
What would happen if by chance an Islamic, America-hating terrorist outfit got hold of nukes? It's not just Americans too btw. It's India too which would be under threat.
In fact, the entire world.
The pursuit of knowledge should have been for the good of humanity, not to destroy it.
Well, it's not going to help trying to blame anyone for the past, but the consequences of the actions of it still holds.

Agh...I don't want to sleep. But I want to sleep. My eyes are all heavy. I haven't had coffee in almost a week. I'm cutting it out for a while. Not as a resolution, but I've been suffering bad acid reflux. Been keeping me up. Probably would help if I didn't eat foods I'm not supposed to.

Prior to being banned by numerous international treaties chemical/biological weapons were the big equalizer. The US had such a large volume of stockpiled chemical agents that it is still working towards the final destruction of them.
No one with any sense of decency or humanity could look at the death tolls at Hiroshima and Nagasaki and not be horrified, but at the same time countless more lives (as estimated by both sides) would have been lost had the Allied forces had to engage a full scale invasion of Japan.
