My ex-pastor said this same thing in church and my head literally exploded all over the place... or just about anyway.

the "pastor" of some of my family members bought me J. Prince book, I got to page 7 and threw it away. (by pg 7 it was in direct conflict with plain Scripture.....)

But...but...he's so popular... and he has his own TV show. He must be right (written sarcastically). Of course this can be applied to any TV preacher.

I really feel that the Holy Spirit let's us know when something is just plain old wrong.

MICAH 3:11.

The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire,
and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD,
and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.

Peddling the Word of God???
for Hire, for money???
a liar believes a liar, isn't this a proverb???

Absolutely great teaching! Used to watch J.P. but then noticed that he was preaching that we do not need to repent. HMMM??
No at all scriptural. The Holy Spirit better convict of sin because no other source is going to.

His taste is clothing is not important, Rod Parsley and many others wear thousand dollar suit and they peddle more garbage to more people than others. They also sell cheesy prayer clothes, prayer shawls that will "bring you closer to God, shofars to blow your own horn, and the latest DC teachings that God has told them to make and distribute... for a nice hefty "faith seed".

7 minutes into that video required me to repent for listening to that much of it.

Look up the words "convict", "condemn", etc. Nowhere will you find the Holy Spirit came to put condemnation upon anyone. All have already been accounted sinners, and all sinners know they are sinners.

When a Christian sins, the Holy Spirit is there to point out the righteous act that should happen, like in John 8:10-12 (KJV)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her,
Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
[SUP]11 [/SUP] She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
[SUP]12 [/SUP] Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

So what has any Christian to do with having to be convicted of sin by the Holy Spirit? Our conscience has capacity to do that. We are taught to judge ourselves, repent, and return to righteous living. If our heart doesn't

If we are "convicted", then someone has judged us of a crime. Judgment is coming, but not for those following Jesus. Judas followed Jesus for a while, but stopped following, began betraying. The others pursued following Jesus to the end. I pursuing Jesus, following Jesus, we as disciples learn the Jesus Way, and walk it.

It's true that the Holy Spirit doesn't convict believers of sin. How to know that?
1 John 3:19-21 (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

[SUP]20 [/SUP] For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
[SUP]21 [/SUP] Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

Our own heart is our judge. Prince was right about that. The Bozo making the video doesn't know the gospel.

I'm not interested in defending all of J. Prince's doctrines, but the video was blatantly built on ignorance.

As for the "laughing", I know the man making that video has never been in an anointed gospel meeting. My wife and I both experienced many such meetings, where the Bible was simply read out loud sometimes, without doctrine, and at a whisper all the congregation was filled with the Spirit, resembling a drunken crowd. Nobody can stand in the presence (anointing) of the Lord.

So the man makes fun of that. To his own shame. He can't take that away from those who tasted of that in that video, and continue to taste of the glory of God. Oppressed people don't laugh much. They mourn. They complain. They cry. But not those who have the presence of the Lord daily. Prnice has experienced that, I have, many have. Scoffers won't. Unbelievers won't.

Probably very few of readers here experienced Kenneth E. Hagin. The man preached faith, the same faith Jesus and his apostles taught, the faith all gospel preachers ought to preach. Sadly, faith is substantially unknown to much of the "Church" today. Acquire and read Hagin's books and whatever videos you can find, and learn all you can about faith.

I can't recommend his son's ministry. The mantle of anointing fell upon Keith Moore, who taught the prayer school at Rhema, under the ministry of Hagin. Moore can be found at Moorelife.org, pastor of Faith Life Church in Branson, MO.

I recall one radio pastor many years back teaching others in the church that Holy Ghost is not your accuser of sin (as he said it) so when you have sinned "and something" is there reminding you that you have, just say, I rebuke you (but as to the devil).

If you know what I mean

That come to mind to me on another thread where blaspheming the Holy Ghost come up.

Because they said, was He hath Beelzebub, so what they really said equally so was that He hath an unclean spirit.

So he might not have said, the Holy Ghost doesnt convict of sin, and He also might have rightly said that the accuser is the devil (who is before God accusing them) but he replaced the words (which belong to the devil) and the work of the Holy Ghost and mixed them together and was really teaching others how to speak against the Holy Ghost as far I see it.

Who is the guy in the video anyway, he could be a false one.. It is tiring hearing about this stuff.
I googled Joseph Prince and found plenty of videos to watch, on sin and conviction.

Probably another youtube heretic hunter.

There are lots of folks who try to make a name for themselves destroying anothers reputation. Folks who spend all their time searching looking for things to catch out of another minister's mouth just to accuse them (rather then just correct them)

Thats why I always find it better to stick whats written and not try to reword it, its not only subject to further misunderstnding but if you slip your doomed by one of these guys who will take your slip up and broadcast it acoss the earth.

In saying that I wouldnt want more of a list against a man I never heard of him and Word_Swordsman has more endurance then me, he watched it a whole three minutes longer then me.

Amen.

One only need to go to the Scriptures to clear this up:
John 16:8-11
8 And when he [the Holy Spirit] comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:

9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;
[That's the unbelieving world.]

10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer;
[That's those who believe; the Holy Spirit actually convicts us of our righteousness in Christ! He always builds us up in who we are in Christ! \o/]

11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. [That's Satan, who is judged by Christ Col. 2:15.]

Regarding Joseph Prince, Brian Moonan (in the video posted in the OP) makes a lot of false accusations against him, which leads me to believe that he's spent little time actually watching what JP actually preaches. Do I agree with everything JP preaches? No, but the primary beefs that fundamentalist and law-keeping types have with him are baseless:

  • JP makes a lot of money off unsuspecting Christians - False.
JP consistently and regularly admonishes believers to support their local churches/ministries/fellowships. He specifically tells folks to NOT give to his ministry in lieu of supporting the Body locally. If revenue is coming in because of books and teachings for sale at his site (there are no prayer cloths or other such foolishness for sale there), I have no problem with that. I do think his site store is overpriced, and I personally would never purchase anything from there, but there are ample other sources for his stuff that is very affordable. His teachings are also available for free on TV and youtube, and he makes podcasts available for free, as well. He also takes NO salary from the church he pastors, as he is self-supporting through the sales of his books/media. Does JP make a lot of money? Perhaps, but it's done honestly and above board.
  • JP wears nice clothes. So what. Brian even accuses him of 'dressing like the world'. Well, I lived for many years in the area where Brian is and he's dressing just like the world of flannel and T-shirts where he is. I'll bet he wears shorts and jeans and sandals and sneakers and boots and maybe even owns a suit, as well. Again, so what. When he starts wearing camel hair burlap, then he'll have some room to talk, ha.
  • JP toes the typical WOF line - False. Joseph Prince does preach prosperity. How does JP define it? As having enough for yourself to live and have enough left over to minister to those around you. Is it okay to have a nice house and car? Yes. And some work hard for and God gives great opportunity for wealth. Again, so what? Some chase after wealth and not after God - that is not what JP is preaching, and if some do that, that is their error. We Americans have an exponentially higher standard of living than MOST of the population in this world, and many ARE guilty of chasing wealth. Again, when Brian starts living in a 12X16 one room home with his family and rides a bike, or better yet, walks everywhere and uses a snowmobile exclusively (they have tough winters in the Rome area, ha, so I'll concede the snowmobile to the brother) in the winter, he really has little room to talk. This, and other areas of criticism tells me that he has not watched many of JP's sermons, because here, specifically, JP does depart from typical WOF teaching.
  • Health - This is an area where I tend to disagree with JP, though when one is walking in Grace, there is much more rest in one's life and much less stress, which by default will result in a healthier life on a number of levels. While I do believe that God heals, there is a bit of 'name it claim it' language in this area of JP's teaching, though not like I've seen with WOF preachers. He is not, however anti-doctor nor does he fault the sick for not having enough faith if they are not healed. In my opinion, here is a more balanced view of what the Bible teaches about 'health and wealth' with the WOF movement in mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=S4hT0xrFC9g
  • Guilt by association: Every person, every video, every text article that I've seen that criticizes JP does so by criticizing where JP says his 'roots' are (Kenneth Hagin). I'm not completely comfortable with Kenneth Hagin, but I'm not gleaning from KH's sermons, but from JP's sermons. And to be frank, I'm not sure why folks have a problem with Christians laughing. There is a lot of joy in Christ! Some would rather that church be moaning and groaning and focusing on how dirty-wormy they think they are and crying and wailing and carrying on that way. Hmmm . . . Personally, I think there is room for tears and for joy in the Church - but joy should far outweigh the tears. Anyway . . .
Critics rarely quote JP, unless it is out of context, or they will pick something that is a secondary issue and extrapolate heresy from there, when there is no heresy. They slap a WOF label on him and hope that's enough to scare folks away from ever watching what he actually has to say.
  • Brian, in his criticism of JP devolves into taking cheap shots at the New Creation church, saying it is full of 'lost goats' and shots at the church building itself, saying that 'the building looks like the wind is blowing it over' (nevermind that the building is in Singapore and that architecturally and culturally it fits right in with the rather dramatic architecture of the city) and that the people in that church are 'living in, probably wallowing in sin' and that they are 'twice fooled child[ren] of the devil'. I'm amazed at Brian's ability to discern the hearts and actions of the thousands of believers at New Creation Church in Singapore all the way from Central New York! Then he goes on to claim that JP preaches 'puppies and rainbows and that we have no need for the Holy Spirit' in our lives. I can testify that I have never once heard JP preach that life is 'puppies and rainbows'. Sheesh. Brian wraps up the video by confusing correction and conviction.
  • Looking at the other videos that Brian has to offer on his YouTube channel, he spends a lot of time 'exposing' stuff and little time simply preaching the Good News, which is what we're supposed to be doing. There is a fair share of conspiracy-minded videos, as well, and he holds to KJV-onlyism, which gives some insight into his mindset.

I've listened/watched enough of Joseph Prince to know that he ALWAYS points people to Christ and His complete Work. I am not a devoted follower of JP, but have concluded that he is an articulate, effective preacher of the Gospel. I do not think he is perfect, who of us is, but he is very solid on the core issues of the faith and I'm glad he has such a wide platform from which to reach so many people. I do not hesitate to recommend him as a teacher while advising, as I always do, for believers to listen/watch with discernment, testing everything they are taught by anyone.

Just my 2 cents.

Receive and rest in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit about who you are in Christ - Righteous! The Holy Spirit will always point you to Christ and who you are in Him, and in that, Grace has the power to teach us to say no to ungodliness. The Holy Spirit will not point out your sin to you, as stated by Word_Swordsman above, our conscience does that. The Holy Spirit always points to Christ and glorifies Him (see the balance of John 16).

Grace and peace,
-JGIG

Does the bible say the Holy Spirit Convict the Believer verses please - just for information

Pointing finger to others is not my cup of tea. the man in video is clearly making a fool out of himself. who are we to judge those preachers? Whether they are false or not, still they are preaching the Gospel. it's not our business to judge, just leave it to God.

Remember david can't accuse king saul even if he has the right to. because David knows king saul is still God's annointed no matter what.
