Ah, that's two out of three! If Shouryu posts as predicted, I'll win the trifecta :D!
Meh. Keep in mind, I'm the weird one when it comes to oatmeal. I haven't met a single person yet that nods and says, "Yeah, I do that, too," when I describe my oatmeal process. Everyone else is normal; I'm odd.

Viola, I use Finale, because I've used it for the better part of 15 years, and I know the Speedy Notation system without looking; I can almost notate as quickly as I can type. When it comes to getting the notes on the page, I almost never touch the mouse, I just go go go with the keyboard. (I've never bought a MIDI controller because I'm cheap.) I'm sure there are other notation programs that are plenty fast, but I've messed with a few (Sibelius and...man, I can't remember the other one), and just the time it would take to learn the new input system would take me longer and slow me down. *shrug*

What DO you do with your oatmeal, anyway?

I might have to keep a close eye on the showers.

My cat recently discovered he likes our shower/bathtub. He sat in it for like...10 minutes. Thankfully there's a sliding glass door I can close to make sure he stays out of it.

I make it savoury rather than sweet. Simmered in broth, then I add turkey breakfast sausage to it, and crack an egg over it right as I turn the heat off, which lightly cooks the white, but leaves the yolk runny and rich. ^_^

Sounds different, but doesn't sound too bad. I'd actually try that. It sounds like a good balance of protein/carbs.

If it was bad, I wouldn't be enjoying it. Most people in the Western world automatically think oatmeal should be fruity/cinnamony/sweet because that's how it's most commonly served up...but in other cultures, the savoury prep is pretty common. Since I tried it, I haven't ever looked back. Give it a shot.

Dang it, Shouryu; I'm not sure if that counted or not O.< Someone else can decide if I got his guess right.

I did sort of try your recipe for oatmeal w/ the broth and meat (that you posted in my thread over a year ago), and I actually did really like it, but I didn't have the "correct" type of oats. I just got some steel-cut type, and I intend to follow your directions to a T, brother Shour. Also, I'm wondering your thoughts on the new "3 minute" steel cut oats that I just heard about today. Sounds a bit like heresy to me, but I'll bow to your authority on the subject.

Also, if CrisonLark is reading this, I actually DID go to bed an hour ago, but I got hungry and got up to cook some eggs. Also, ate more gummies.

What did I even mean by that? I was trying to say that my guess as to what Shouryu's response was going to be was ambiguously correct and I needed another person to say that I got it right before the trifecta would be awarded (apparently "trifecta" isn't an actual word, btw).

I don't think my conscience is going to let me sleep after all :). Please post what the sad and angry smileys (frownies?) are for, Sis. I'll be bblLw and try to help. In the meantime, see my signature. Cheered me right up when I read it a couple of days ago =).

I'm starting to wonder if everything is 99% random drivel, with the remaining 1% being the stuff that I crave and have to look far and wide to find.. and I usually don't find it.

What do I mean by this? Beats me, who knows...

zeroturbulence: Sounds like most of the forums I've been on. 99% drivel, 1% what I want to read. Why do you think I hide out here so much?

Shouryu: Nothing wrong with savory vs. sweet. There's already enough carbs in the oats and most people's blood sugar doesn't need MORE carbs from the sugar. Why did you think it would seem weird?

...Or that's what I would say, but then I remember when I put garlic, butter and salt in my oatmeal and my sister mentioned it for FIFTEEN YEARS! Every time someone mentioned that my food choice might seem a bit odd she would bring up the garlic oatmeal. So yeah, I can see how you might expect someone to think that was weird. Some people... smh

Talking about Finale vs.... I have tried a lot of sequencers and none of them had an option to make sheet music. And the freeware notation editors, though neat and free (always a plus, go with freeware if it does what you need) don't play what they wrote - or in one case I tried, played it through cheap MIDI soundfont. And Catherder is already accustomed to Finale. If Finale can make sheet music AND play it through Garritan's instruments, for Catherder's purpose it would be prime.

Personally I have no interest in making sheet music, so my DAW is Reaper. And Audacity for quick, simple edit jobs.

Music nerd stuff. Normal people wouldn't understand. Just say "there they go again" and keep moving. That's what most normal people do.

Cheddar popcorn, buttered popcorn, hot cheese popcorn...

I'm definitely not having an unhealthy obsession with popcorn right now. :p

lil_christian: What's the harm in the cat sitting in the bathtub? If he likes it there... better than the lynx in the sinks. ;)

Now if the cat is walking along the edge of the bathtub and falls into a tub full of water, then you have a problem. Or rather, he has a problem, because cats don't like getting wet.

People, concerning my new sig, please don't explain it to me. Doing so would only ruin my fun. Thanks.

Also, it turns out that eating eggs and gummy bears at 2 am is a terrible idea.

On a COMPLETELY unrelated note, I no longer have an addiction to gummy candy. Thank you all for your support as I kicked the habit.
