Because unless the broken ribs are displaced, there is nothing a Dr. can do for them. The only thing you can do for broken ribs is to tape up the chest tight (to keep them from becoming displaced) and take it easy for a couple of weeks.
Oh, wow. That's such a good point! Haha! Don't mind me. Thanks, brother. :)

Life lessons from breakfast:

Do not grieve because you bought the wrong bacon at the supermarket, but rejoice that you live in a country where you can buy bacon.

Feels like the bacon love on this forum has dropped off recently and that is a serious failing.

OW!!! Those rams mean business! And if you didn't see him coming... you wouldn't have been able to even protect yourself. I am cringing for you now.

We had a long horned ram who loved to butt people too. My father was once run up a tree by this ram, and had to sit in the top of the tree and wait for someone to hear him calling and come rescue him. We still laugh about that, but I don't imagine it was so funny when it happened.
Thanks, Grace! Yes, this ram was a monster. Its horns travelled halfway down its body and the ram itself was the biggest I had ever seen (and I'd seen quite a few rams). Also, I was a short teenager (5'6), so that was against me too. I'm now 6'5 and have been for 10 or so years now. But yes, not seeing the ram when it charged, did put me at the disadvantage.

Can anybody spot the condescension in his tone there? 5'6" was short for a teenager? How about 5'5.5" for an adult? I would never stand next to you because you would belittle me. :(

I felt the same way. Though if it makes you feel any better roh_chris, I'm shorter than you are. But I imagine that if you come from a family of tall people then 5'6" could make you feel short. And Tintin is almost as tall as goliath now.

I meant no harm, brother. By that, I just meant I was one of the shortest in my class and that I was short in comparison to them, and when I shot up during Year 12. I would never belittle you, you're my brother (that and I just don't comment on people's height).

Oops, I'm not the best with feet. Let's try that again.

I'm now 6'5 and, as a teenager, I was lucky if I were 5'2.

My dad and middle bro are 5'10, mum's 5'4, my youngest bro is around 6'1.
I'm still a little way off Goliath's height! He was almost 10'!

About to have a late dinner out with daughter. Fun times.

Not a bad ending for a day that started out with cat vomit.

If cats would pick up their own vomit, they would be the perfect pets.

I've never seen a cat that runs to the litter box to handle that one task, that would be fine too. Otherwise they are low maintenance. They just seem to want to find the nicest rug in the house if they are sick to their stomach. Or my bed...

Ever go to bed so tired you don't even check your bed?

Ever wake up the next morning to realize you slept in cat vomit?

I have...

Phew. Someone who understands how it feels to be short. My next question would be - what's the average height of a woman in the US? I think the average height of a woman in India is around 5'4".

I was just pulling your leg, my brother. If I ever have a personal issue against someone, I would take it to PM. :)

At least my dogs take care of that task for them. :D
Last time I had a cat vomit, I considered the value of having a dog to pick up the cat's vomit. Honestly and truly I did.

But you have to walk the dog.

Now if the cat could walk the dog, then we'd be talking.

I want a pet that is the mammalian equivalent of a plant. Almost zero maintenance and there when you want it. I'll settle for cats I suppose.

This is something that baffles me.

I find it hard to believe that in this present day and age, there are churches which are disconnected from the youths and children. They still stick to redundant principles of worship and adopt the same principles in their youth and child ministries. How can a church connect with the children unless it indulges them in a few games? Why do churches frown upon conducting games for the youth and children? Isn't that a wonderful 'Ice Breaker'? On the other hand, I see churches which connect with the youngsters through a fear factor. They preach the message of a fearful, trigger-happy and violence-prone God who would punish them for breaking the laws He laid down. I fail to understand how they can even expect the youngsters of this generation to accept a God who does not sound approachable at all!

Two days back, I had the blessed opportunity of participating with a few members from my church's youth ministry, in an outreach program for kids from 12 to 22 years of age. These members were quite broad-minded so they had brought along two couples who ministered among the youths through the YMCA program (they were not from our church). We split the day between the two groups - we led the worship and shared the word of God, while they conducted lesson-based games for the children. It was amazing to see how the couples got the kids active and pumped up through simple games and activities. I was thrilled to see even the teenagers joyfully participating in the games. At the end of every game, they conveyed a simple lesson for the kids to take home.

In my church, we never have activities like this because such activities are forbidden in the church. Any youth or children's service in our church goes like this -
2 hours of worship
A 10-minute break for coffee/tea
2 hours of group activities (discussions on some issue pertaining to youths)
1-hour lunch break
1 hour of worship
1 1/2 hours of sermon
Half an hour of worship
~End of youth retreat~

A few months back, there was a similar outreach program when some of the members from our team had criticized these two couples for dishonouring the presence of God. These members had the audacity to tell them that playing such games was wrong and that they were violating the sanctity of God's presence. Thank goodness that we did not invite those critics for this outreach program.

So yeah.. I don't understand why churches refuse to connect with youths and children. But, when these youths stop coming to church or these children drop out of Sunday School, they blame it on the devil and on the world. Open your eyes! The enemy is within you!

Wow. I don't agree with the youth groups that seem to be all about games and not much else, but our God is a God of joy and laughter and fun. There is something godly about having fun and fellowship with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, as you grow to know God more and how to serve Him.

Maybe it's just my own unique(weird) set of past and present circumstances/psychological issues or the like...but...

Does anyone else ever seem to get a little lonely at night? Idk...for some reason, once I lay down, I often want someone to talk to, but other than God, I don't have anyone. Not to say He isn't enough, because He's more than enough...but still...

I actually used to be very social at night, and I had some of the most intimate relationship memories from evening time. I once had people I talked to every night, but not so for a long while now...

Anyone else experience/feel like this?

I wasn't saying that youth groups must be all about games. I was saying that you can't always be worshipping and hearing sermons. You have to allocate some time to teach the youths simple lessons like obedience, team-building, etc. through easy games and activities. You can't share the word of God with youths unless you break the ice and games are an effective tool of doing that.

Here's a clarification - I am not talking of games like volleyball or football. I am talking of simple activities that are usually played in kids parties. This is one game that they played - A team of 8 was divided into 2 and were asked to stand facing each other. They were given a balloon filled with water. The team had to throw the balloon across each other, starting from the first person until the last one and then back to the first person. They got a point for every completed 'round'. They lost a point for every water balloon that bursted. The lesson that was taught to them - 'your lives are like every water balloon and the safest pair of hands is only Jesus'.

You see? These are simple games which can convey a profound meaning to the kids. I know what you mean by your post but I think there can be a balance between fun and worship.
