i think I'm stuck being an electrician. Haha. I do however get the privilege of teaching emotional intelligence to my children...plus I get the added bonus of learning more from them than than I could possibly teach them. Not to mention throwing a high function autistic teenage stepson into the mix.

truth be told...I would rather my kids were emotionally intelligent than made the honor roll in school. Fortunately, I think emotional intelligence equates to overall intelligence but not the other way around.

I find it interesting that BLB went after my character in her anger towards me. I suppose that it is common for that generation to attack the core of someone to try to make their discomfort less uncomfortable. For instance....if an action of someone makes me angry and I react out of my anger about their action, I am basically saying they are a bad person because I am uncomfortable because of them. It is sending the message to them that they are responsible for MY feelings.

I didn't call MM that to his face. Neither did Sirk. He'll never know of the comments. But the whole world knows he implied Chris Kyle is a coward. How did that sit with you, emotionally, when you heard of it?

snipers cant afford to be cowards.. their lives and lives of others depends on their bravery to shoot.. btw, i was just as shocked by that as I was with MM..

I "admittedly" was trying to push you past the secondary emotion of anger to the primary emotion of pain....to which we still didn't get there. I know its hard...it is for most of us.

And yet that verse has nothing to do with love. It has to do with Christian maturity, and specifically the soon-to-end s&w gifts. It applies to knowing when to speak up, and when to shut up. I'm sure most here think I get the two confused. I assure you, I don't. But thanks for your concerns.

Cynical and sarcastic are not the same thing, and they do not have to be done out of hatred, anger, or pique. They can be done to tweak the person who needs to be tweaked, particularly after an approach that appeals to the soft, humble side of that person fails to have an effect.

Yes it does have to deal with love, as a Christian who is mature, their main focus in their walk and speech will only do things out of love. As a mature Christian loves God with all their heart, soul, mind, love their neighbor as their self, and yes even love their enemies.......Words, actions, and deeds will all be done out of love.

I never met CHRIS KYLE but I knew our Marine Scout Snipers HAD OUR -6- IN RAMADI. As a squad leader I know 1st at hand that ALOT OF MY BROTHER'S MADE IT BACK STATE-SIDE with "TEAM3/10" AS OVERWATCH 4 us on the ground...And so did my JESUS MOST OF ALL!

I think you need to reconsider. Did Jesus tip toe around people's feelings? I would argue that he did not....but was very tactful at times and very to the point and direct at times. There is no one size fits all way to deal with people and or circumstance. Jesus illustrated that very clearly in my estimation.

Well, no. Sorry, but while you can support this statement with tons of Scripture from Paul, the gospels, or John, Peter, or Jude, this isn't one of them.

1 Corinthians 13, NASB
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.
9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part;
10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.​

This passage essentially says the written testimony of Christ from His disciples and friends would replace the s&w gifts that, to that point, confirmed the message as being divine. If v. 11 was about love, and not Christian maturity, the passage wouldn't make sense in it context.

You have valid points regarding how we are to season our speech, be salt and light. I'll consider them as they relate to MM and other celebrities who 1) don't know me and never will, and 2) appear to be completely outside the sphere of potential redemption, though obviously God could change that in a heartbeat.
