By staying on the defensive, you are making us who want to examine the teachings of the founders look like offensive attackers in some Holy war lol.
Right now I am just playing catch up. On the other hand, it is easier and less time consuming to answer objections, than it is to have to provide the objections as well as answer them. I need a break here shortly. Perhaps if time allows, I will attempt to provide and answer objections. Though it is a time consuming request.

Jesus Lives....can you give us a paragraph of what your "creed" is?
Well first off please note that I speak in Blondese and not Ellen White....I was not raised in an SDA house as far as I know my mom had been dis-fellowshipped from the church for going to see a movie way back when in the very legalistic days. This is not only a fault of the SDA church but most all churches practiced some form of Very Legalistic just ask any church about the no dancing no doing of many things rules back in the 1950's period....

So I went to the church school and came home to ham dinners....yes, I was a confused Blond. I grew up and started reading and studying on my own and for the very longest time up to age 56 felt I was a LOST SINNER GOING TO HELL......

After God explained salvation to me at 56. I would say my creed is...... Jesus is my Leader/God/HolySpirit as I do believe in the trinity. God Rules and should always have the number 1 place in my heart. I should Love God with my entire being and trust and obey Him. Following Jesus wherever He leads me.

I am saved by Grace and not of myself as it is a gift of God. I know the wages of sin is Death. I believe that when you die you rest in the ground (as if in a sleep unaware of anything) until resurrected to either eternal life or the second resurrection to eternal damnation. I believe Jesus is our High Priest, Sacrificed for our sins paying our penalty for those sins and is with the Father in Heaven. Hebrews clearly states this. I also believe that the 10 Commandments were spoken by God, written in stone with His finger and are the laws of His eternal government. That those same laws are now written on our hearts and with the Holy Spirits enabling us to obey those laws. The law is necessary to show us what sin is if it were not for the law we would not know. But Jesus is the only way to the Father the law does not save us JESUS SAVES US. I believe that God gave us the Sabbath as His signature at the end of creation week as a sign between Him and us and God sanctified it, blessed it and hallowed it. Isaiah says from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another we shall come and worship before the Lord. I also believe I should pattern my life after Jesus and love my neighbor as myself and to become more and more like Him every day. I can only do this with the Holy Spirit.

While Ellen White wrote some helpful books I usually will never quote her as she is not our leader Jesus is our Leader and in many of the books she wrote she over and over again would encourage people to go to their Bible and not take her writings over the Bible.

A bit more than a paragraph but I guess this could be stated as the Blonds creed.....Note Please this is only the Blonds I do not speak for all other SDA's only myself.

The writings of EGW may be obtained by all. If you want to know what she taught, get her writings. It is not possible to keep up with the unending accusations of the unlearned. I've been doing this for many years. To date, the accusers never bother responding or admitting when they are proved wrong or to have misquoted EGW or twisted her words. They simply move on to another accusation. This is fine, it will all come out in the laundry. All of our words will be judged.
I enjoy finding out when I am wrong brother, it means I have come to know more truth. The truth is not so easily found in this world because people do not truly seek it before professing to have found it.

I will admit, I came here with the presupposition that Ellen White is a false prophet. Indeed, I have read about the SDA church in great depth on other websites which focus on Christian apologetics (which is not going to be the most unbiased information). Where I currently stand now is this:

I continue to consider her a false prophet simply by default because I have not the time nor ultimate desire to pour through her hundreds and hundreds of pages of writings and "visions" which she claims to have had.

If she merely claimed to be a person with insight into the Bible, then we would not even be having this conversation. Many have insights into the Bible and even the best teachers get it wrong on various things. Such is the nature of man. It's when she says her words/insights possess an authority which lies somewhere above that of men yet below that of the Word of God that I really have a problem. What does that even mean? Either it is of God or it is of man. How could it possibly be in between? I have even heard it said in some places that her words are Equal to the Scriptures.

If you do desire to stand behind her and her teachings, I will listen and consider what you have to say. But as I've said earlier, it would save alot of time if you were to put forth your own findings and thoughts. You are obviously more knowledgeable than I am in this area so I will thoughtfully consider your personal thoughts and observations. What are the most difficult and easily misunderstood or most commonly misrepresented teachings by the founders, and how have you come to realize that they actually are in line with Scripture.

It is not pointless to point out the lies of those working deception. If EGW is involved in deception, then it is not pointless to reveal the truth regarding the same. If she was a prophetess and those falsely accusing her are lying about her, then it is of course not pointless to reveal their deception in doing so. Pointing out deception, is not pointless. It is part of defending the truth.
See folks this guy is at least honest enough to admit that this point needs to be addressed....

All you have revealed is that people who came together continually to study the bible and ask for God's guidance that they might preach and teach it with His power, were given God's guidance in doing the same. Let me highlight what you did not.

We all know that God reveals truth to His prophets. The above proves nothing regarding the truth of that received or not. The bible itself will determine its truthfulness or not. Not you, or me, or anyone else. If you want to prove her false, prove it from scripture.
She said she was quote "taken of in a vision" and God taught her some new understanding of the truth of scripture....Not sure what kind of bible study you guys are used to but this seems to be a claim far beyond a simple bible study!

White blames her failed prophecy on the members of the Seventh-day Adventist church: "Thus the work was hindered, and the world was left in darkness. Had the whole Adventist body united upon the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, how widely different would have been our history." (Selected Messages, Book 1, p.299).

See its not really her fault! Its these faithless SDA folks who caused her to be wrong!

I don't blame you guys for not wanting folks to know about the founder of your group.. its very sad and shameful what this woman did. But either you guys need to renounce her and move away from her doctrines and teachings or be honest enough to stand up and defend her, because she is the SDA church and there is not one without the other. You guys want to start a thread to defend your group...so defend its foundations or cast them down and start over.

What did jesus do when he taught people. Curiously...he almost always met a need first.
Almost. Yet his enemies hated Him so very much.
21-23 “When people realize it is the living God you are presenting and not some idol that makes them feel good, they are going to turn on you, even people in your own family. There is a great irony here: proclaiming so much love, experiencing so much hate! But don’t quit. Don’t cave in. It is all well worth it in the end. It is not success you are after in such times but survival. Be survivors! Before you’ve run out of options, the Son of Man will have arrived.

38-39 “If you don’t go all the way with me, through thick and thin, you don’t deserve me.
If your first concern is to look after yourself, you’ll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you’ll find both yourself and me.

40-42 “We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God’s messenger. Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing.”

all verses from biblegateway. Matthew 10 The Message (MSG)

10 1-4 The prayer was no sooner prayed than it was answered. Jesus called twelve of his followers and sent them into the ripe fields. He gave them power to kick out the evil spirits and to tenderly care for the bruised and hurt lives.

What you wrote here reminds me of another time people were non-believing right as the Israelites were to go into the promised land they didn't have enough faith either and ended up wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. They didn't listen to their leadership either and it cost them.....their lives....

I use the Bible as my guide as it should be - no other man/woman's writings should ever be taken above the Bible. I won't defend Mrs. White as if those speaking against her would read one book through I believe they would all change their minds. I would recommend The Desire of Ages as that is a book about the life of Christ. These types of arguments are usually a waste of time being that most have made up their minds and have dug in the sand to stand their point.

As a child I had EG White writings shoved down my throat and I didn't like her very much not because of her but because of the people that misused her writings and did not understand what she wrote. So as an adult I don't usually quote anything she wrote as the Bible is our guide book for our life not Mrs. White's writings.

I also as an adult read for myself some of her books and found out just how much people had misused her writings. But I found out for myself and I suggest that the rest of you do the same. Now that it appears that this thread will probably go in circles again and again I will probably move on. However, my personal inbox is always open for honest questions and I will try my best to supply honest Biblical answers. For now Blond is moving on.....

I worked as a subcontractor in a SDA church. We had to fish a cable across the sanctuary and there was only a space big enough to drive a remote control car thru with a pull string attached to the back of it. I only bring this up because everytime I am reminded of the SDA denomination I am reminded of this and how nice the pastor and people that I came into contact there were.

Look guys...the lady is clearly a fraud and its evident to anyone who really looks at the things she wrote and the claims she made. I don't want any of you guys to think I cannot accept your own personal faith in Christ...because I can, apart from your religious group, just as I do for catholics. But some cannot and should not ever accept the SDA or ellen g white as a true part of the Church of Jesus Christ...God forbid!

I never use the writings of EGW to back up anything I believe. I will discuss her writings with like believers, many of whom misuse her writings as well or better than non believers. I will never use them to convince those who do not accept her gift. There is enough confusion regarding the scriptures alone, to get tangled up in debating yet another source. The scriptures are a final and the greatest authority regarding all spiritual and issues of salvation. I only address EGW issues when others bring her up, and speak without knowledge, or deception in hand. The SDA Church itself has compounded the problem by continually publishing new books, that is to say compilations of her writings all the time. This makes it increasingly difficult to get to the original context of many of her statements. Which of course the unlearned use to twist and manipulate her words to their own ends, as so very many do with the scriptures also.

I appreciate your honesty and willingness to listen to both sides of an issue. I'm not here to teach EGW, but will not stand by and allow for lies and misrepresentations of her writings either. If some are convicted to put forth accusations, I feel obligated to address them if I know them to be untrue. Nor do I mind looking into the matter for myself. Who am I, that I might not have missed something. We are to test all things by the word of God.
