And if they did, they would be "technically" violating scripture. You skipped right over every verse that commands husbands to love their wives and give themselves to and for her even as Jesus Christ gave up Himself for the church demonstrating the fruits of God's Spirit (e.g. love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) when interacting with her.
Doesn't sound like telling her to "shut your trap and cover your head" fits the biblical model at all. So why are you misrepresenting it as such?
And in addition to pulling a couple of verses out of context with the rest of scripture, your pulling it out of context with the culture his audience lived in. For example, the shaving of the head of the woman who disgraces her husband by committing adultery was prescribed by
pagan Roman law which applied in the Roman colony of Corinth that Paul was addressing.
Got it so far? If a wife did not cover her head, culturally she was regarded in that community as someone who refuses to recognize her relationship with her husband (e.g. her marital status). In that time and place, if a wife didn't cover her head in public, it was considered a disgrace by the people that lived in the community per that culture.
But it was also considered a disgrace in the Hebrew culture that Paul was raised in. When a woman was tried by "the ordeal of the water of jealousy," her head was uncovered by the priest (Numbers 5:18). To be shorn or shaven was a sign of mourning (Deuteronomy 21:12), and was a disgrace inflicted on adulteresses.
Yet Paul did not issue a command, but, a sort of scornful inference, or reductio ad absurdum to make a point. Again, notice how Paul phrased it. Paul says literally that “
she ought to have authority
over her own head because of the angels.” Paul means that she should exercise wisely her right to decide whether to cover her head in a way that will honor her husband (11:8–9) [See: Keener, C. S. (1993). The IVP Bible background commentary: New Testament (1 Co 11:10). Downers Grove, IL: IV Press] not that her husband can order her to "shut her trap and cover your head."
If you want to grow in knowledge and truth, you need to focus on gaining it rather than engaging in the unfortunate, ignorant, juvenile, defensive hyperbole so many young atheists engage in. That is a complete waste of your time and intellect.
Technically, biblically, any one of these guys can tell you to shut your trap and cover your head, because as the bible says ''women, I do not render to you authority over any man''.
These guys are fairly liberal, considering.
