I'll start. I have a heart for hurting people and I sense that I have an ability to get to the source of people's pain. Not sure if that's my calling or not but it seems that God has placed a lot of hurting people in my path to love on lately.

Dont mean this to be a debate thread. Just one for people willing to be vulnerable.

side note...if you pick on someone who is open I'll send guido to vist you. :).

I believe mine would be to visit with the widows. (If that counts)
We have so many in our church and they are always lonely. 95% are elderly and don't work so they are always stuck at home their children are grown and moved away. They really just don't have anyone. They tend to become depressed and stop comeing to church. I visit with them you can just see the difference it makes. They become full of life. They just wanna share EVERYTHING that God has done for them. And it makes my heart fill with joy when I can be there with them.
I'm disabled so there isn't alot I can do but sit at home all day. but God placed it my heart one day to go visit with them . Now that I have a son I take him with me and they just love it since most of them don't really get to see their grandchildren for months at a time.

I have been called and drawn by the Holy Spirit to study, learn, and then turn around and give out the warnings of sin to believers just as Paul was called to do. Give an understanding of eternal life/salvation, but follow it up with the warnings that sin still posses to our lives. Rather it (sin) affects us emotionally, physically, medically, or even a total control of our lives that one must learn to by the word and love of God to help them turn from.

My role? Hmm...

Honestly, that's a little nebulous to me. I try to play to my strengths, but I don't think I make much of an impact anywhere to really nail something down as my "role" or calling. I use my innate patience and aptitude with working on electronics to help people when their IT world is turned upside down, and people seem appreciative and responsive to that.

But my role? Beats me. :p

I've played guitar on our worship team since 04. I've received many notes from new believers who say things like....I had bad experiences with church growing up but when I heard you playing that Lincoln Brewster solo note for note I couldnt wait for the next service and it kept me coming back and every weekend it was like the pastor was speaking right to me.

That being said, I believe that relationship is my calling and being a good husband and father.

This isn't a role........it is a God anointed Ministry.............just saying :)

I have no idea, what I usually handle well, working with children and dealing well with others has been a challenge lately. I feel drained and haven't a clue if I am where I should be.

That's a great question for each of us. I don't know what my specific role is but I have noticed that people seem to care about what I have to say. I think too hard and too long about simple questions. That's not a gift of the Spirit though since it's a trait many non-Christians also have.

I always felt called as a teacher, since that is what my training and inclination have always been. (I am a certified teacher and taught school for many years.)

I was also a professional musician, and I have been very involved in music ministries, and still am.

But my real call from God was to the hurting and broken. God gave me these verses, and I have held them close to my heart.

"All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; [SUP]19 [/SUP]that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation." 2 Cor. 5:18-19

I love my ministry as a chaplain in long term care. I get to teach Bible studies, preach on some Sundays, lead worship on other Sundays or do a special number. So I can use those gifts and talents.

But most of all, I love that I can visit each resident individually, talk to them about their lives and spiritual things. I am truly blessed to have found such a calling.

I think my role is just to be available to God to be used however. I'm a wife and mother, sing a little, write a lot, teach kids, I'm am a search and rescue volunteer and I grow food.....I guess God just thinks I should be a butterfly and move from need to need.....

I guess I get frustrated because I am just not sure what mine is. I'm a single mom and am exhausted after working all day and the burden of being in the position I'm in. I always aim to be an example of what a Christian should be to my children and support them in every way I can. There is really no greater calling for a mother than her children. But mine are grown and on their way to their life goals. I have a very small income and do what I can to support the Jewish people through known organizations. There are times when I feel the Holy Spirit leading me to help out somebody, even a stranger, by putting gas in their vehicle, or in some other small way. Most days I feel like I'm either on hold or hopefully have not missed something.

It is so refreshing and wonderful to see other members in Christ still do that, going to the members of the church houses and sitting down personally with them and talking to them. I have seen a down flow of leadership in the churches doing this, and even not willing to go out into the neighborhood and knock on doors to invite others to church to try and bring them to the Lord.

My role is first of all as His body to make it my goal that Christ's love is expressed through me in the ways that is needed moment by moment.

My secondary role is to submit to the role (circumstance) that He gives me each day with complete faith, patience, endurance, and drawing ever on His peace and wisdom.
