Trinity!
Latin: trinitas
Meaning: three are (is) one

The belief that God is made up of Three distinct Persons

The Bible teaches that the Father is God,
Jesus is God, and
the Holy Spirit is God,
and that there is only one God

There are Churches that reject this belief although the Bible Scholars agree that
the meaning of the trinity is clearly expressed in the bible.

You are a Christian, what do you think of this?

Oddly enough this is being debated in this for right now in the ''Is Christianity monotheistic or has it become a polytheistic religion?'' thread. I for one agree that the Father is God, Jesus is God and that the Holy Spirit is God, yet I do not believe the teaching by trinitarians that they are separate being to be biblical.

This is what I believe .
#1 The Father is God, Jesus is God, The Holy Spirit is God.
#2 However Jesus Christ is also the Father and the Father is the Holy Spirit.
#3 In other words there is one God the Father, who came in a body (the Son) and who is the Eternal Spirit (the Holy Spirit). So they teach that the Father came in the flesh as Jesus, and is a Spirit ''The Holy Spirit''.
#4 So it is similar to the Trinity doctrine in that we have 3 who are one, but Oneness doctrine says that the 3 ''persons'' are not separate, but actually the same 1, who is God.

This is the true teaching of scripture that they are 1 not 3.

The trinity is clearly taught in the Bible. There are 3 persons in the Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The end of Matt. 28, the Great Commission, and many other passaged, make it clear that the trinity is Biblical.

Jesus is not God the Father. Jesus leads us to God the Father. Jesus is the shepard, we are the sheep...who do you think the shepard is leading us to? God the Father. ONE GOD. THREE PARTS TO ONE GOD. GOD THE FATHER. GOD THE SON. HOLY SPIRIT. ALL ARE ONE GOD.

Jesus is the Son of God. If he were part of their trinity then wouldn't the Son know the day the Lord is coming or is his third part God the Father not telling himself?

Paul warned of another Jesus, gospel & spirit: 2 Cor. 11:4 God gave Jesus a name above all names: Phil. 2:9. Jesus came in the Father's name: John 5:43. Jesus manifested the Father's name: John17:6. Jesus declared God's name: John 17: 26. When it is all over Jesus turns everything over to the Father and is subject to God himself: 1 Cor. 15:27-28. Jesus receives his own new name: Rev.3:12. Christ is the Father and Son; no third person trinity, because God is a spirit and is holy, he is the Holy Spirit: 1 John 2:22-23; 2 John 9; John 4:24; Ps. 22:3.

Paul did teach against people teaching another Jesus and I would suggest you heed this warning. to teach that Jesus was not God in the flesh is a more serious error than the trinitarians are making.

Are they one or separate ? which one is it?
They are both. Separate but still one. Most people, including my self, have a hard time grasping this. For example, we all have one physical body. In that body we all have various organs, yet they are still in one body. To say God the son IS God the father I think is incorrect. Yet they are both still God (along with the Holy Spirit making the trinity). Don't get me wrong, if you do know Jesus than you also do know the Father as Jesus said. But there is a difference to saying the Father IS Jesus. The Holy Spirit leads us to Jesus. Jesus is the shepard who leads us to the Father. All three, Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit ARE God.

I have heard pastors say just accepted it by faith, while I do not need to accept anything by faith that scripture cannot confirm. If you think Jesus is not God the Father manifest in the flesh as the Son then you are wrong and only know what doctrine says not scripture.

at one time i was taught that the trinity was true. but two words in the bible that changed my mind (1 born (2 begotten ........... to be born ....1. brought into life 2. being such by birth...... begotten or beget......
become the father of (God is Jesus father ,) just like we all are begotten of our father and are born of our mothers. there are others examples in the bible that i know that proves the trinity is not real. for example Jesus is called the son of God 50 times in the 4 gospel alone.(NEVER is he called God the Son) so the answer too the question is NO the trinity is not God's doctrine. in Christ's Love Jesse

Do you find the phrase "Free Will" in the Bible? Most Christians would agree this doctrine is true, even though the phrase is not found. Same story with the Trinity. It may not be written word for word, but the doctrine is there. Disbelieving the Trinity would lead to some rather illogical explanations of certain passages, including Jesus praying to the Father, the response of the Father at Jesus' baptism (Mt .3:17) Jesus prayer in the garden "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Matt 26:39...

I think you responded to the wrong post? None of you arguments make any since at all, if you were opposing Jesse's post. He never said the Trinity was not true because the word Trinity is not in the Bible nor did He deny that God was Jesus' Father. Your argument must have been directed to another post.

However I do have a question for Jesse. Do you not believe trhat Jesus is God at all?

Yah, I replied instead of doing a quick reply, my mistake. It's interesting to see how many people deny the deity of Christ during a discussion like this...

Exactly. And that Jesus said He came from the Father, and is going back to the Father. It also makes certain passages in the new testament which refer to both the Father and the Son in the same passage illogical.

So a Oneness person must read this passage:

2Jn 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Like this:

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Father, the Father, in truth and love.
