Lynx,
This is a good reason to take up sewing as a hobby
. I mentioned in another thread that I have something like 10 different patterns for shorts--one of the reasons I collected different styles is because one of those patterns has instructions for the perfect cargo pocket. I just want to be able to put them on a different style of shorts but haven't had the time to put it all together yet.
If I ever get around to it I plan to put cargo pockets on the front and back, and each larger pocket will also have a mini-pocket. Each pocket will have a zipper, because without zippers I have a tendency to lose things. I also plan to add one waterproof pocket to protect my camera for a day at the amusement park (water rides!!!) if I'm every so lucky to go again. Of course, I'll have to make sure it doesn't turn out looking like I'm carrying a full round of hunting gear (think of how much fun going through airline security would be) but the best thing about sewing is that you can make what you want with added details of your choice. And, if you don't like the fabric color choices available (50 shades of gray, literally), you can always buy white or light-colored fabric and dye it yourself.
I miss the quality of days gone by. Nothing is made like it used to be. My Grandpa has a washer and dryer set in that avocado green color that was so popular eons ago, but they still run just fine. My first set of furniture was handed down from my parents and was older than I am, but you can't find quality like that in stores anymore, and of course, everything costs at least twice as much.
I also miss the restaurant chain Bill Knapps (known before its demise as "Heaven's Gate" because of its popularity with the senior crowd.) It had THE BEST cheeseburgers and chocolate cake ever and on your birthday, you got a free cake.
I've never found any place that could come close as a rival in either of these two categories ever and I wish I could.
