Okay, but what has that to do with with anything?
I am saying that capital punishment and corprol punishment should be reinforced becuase people deeserve it - emotinal sentence or not - but I think this has now become a pointless argument - we have both put our points accross - we cant both be right - and at the end of the day you wount be able to convert me and I obviouslly wont be able to converrt you

Okay, goodnight.
Thanks :) it was I slept right though :)

last wednesday in my church's youth group, we had a breakout session with that same question as a topic. i don't remember off the the top of my head the verses that our youth pastor gave us, but he basicly said that authority over us had the right to execrise punnishment fitting to the crime. he also stressed that we as indeviduals don't have the right to revenge on our own- if someone kills your brother, you can't just go out and kill them. also, as long as we remain on the right side of the law, we don't have anything to worry about. hope this helps.

NIV GENESIS 9:6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; For in the image of God has God made man."

NKJV GENESIS 9:6 "Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man."

In the bible, God tells us to put people to death for many reasons, so I don't see why it would differ in today's standards.

Besides, I already bought popcorn, don't rain on the show.

I want to hear everyone's views on capital punishment. Scripture is nice to hear, but if not, that's fine to. Should capital punishment be in effect? What crimes deserve capital punishment?

I guess I could start with my opinions. I think that pre-meditated murder deserves capital punishment, child molestation/sexual abuse deserves capital punshment. I also believe that rapists should be castrated. Any ways, that's my opinions, now lets hear yours.
This is a tough question. By the old covenant I would agree, but since we are under new covenant I don't think we should. I agree on rapists being castrated. I won't even start on my rant about child abuse. God already made it clear about his view on child abuse also. I don't think it's our place to take someone's life for wrong doing. We all make mistakes even if some are greater. I believe they should be locked up for life.

I understand what you are saying, and I'm sure some day we can vent to each other our extreme rage towards child abusers, lol. But did Jesus himself say that he has not come to change the ways of Moses?

He said he came to fulfill the law, but I always thought that was talking about bringing a saviour. I might be wrong. I have no idea. I always think about the people who have to do the capital punishment; I bet that will mess with their brain forever. I think God should have his vengeance, and we stay out of it.

I understand what you mean though about the executioners. But someone's gotta do it. Why should I pay for that person to sit in jail, when they do deserve death.

No one should be stripped of their right to live and if they are too much trouble God will do it. Quite a few convicts get saved in jail and I would want that to be stripped away either.

The old testament tells us that if one man kills another, that the murderer should be killed.

That was under the old covenant the new covenant says for us to forgive.

yes, but there still comes a punishment. A lot of people were forgiven but still had to serve their punishment.

I'm still unsure, and will never take part of it or vote for it.
