Actually I'll beat you all. The OP was a quote from "War Games" and not really an invitation to play.

Judges?

:)
"Use of 32-year-old movie/computer reference on board populated with many 20-somethings [obviously excluding the judge] ..."

Now, now. Many of us 20-somethings have seen WarGames.

Heck, my favorite film is probably Arsenic and Old Lace.

This has turned into s republican bashing thread. Sad, but I don't expect much from a few here.

The sad things is we should not bash anybody, but the people who have been chosen and picked by both sides republicans and democrats can easily be bashed on for the bone head decisions done by both sides. To defend one over the other keeps people doing exactly what the government and controlled media sources want. If people were to actually unit under the same beliefs and standards the government would be overthrown and over turned by the public.
It is easier to keep a mass of people under control by keeping them debating and fighting among each other, then to let them come together under a common understanding.

If God knew and understood this concept, as we can see by the example of the tower of babel.
All people were of one accord of doing wrong back then instead of right, so God separated them so this could not take place again by confusing the languages. Now that the language barriers have been broken with interpreters now days, evil is rising to an all time high again.

Well I can't show an article for it, but I just saw a little bit ago on CNN news on TV Mike Huckabee as a guest on Smerconish. Seems to me by some of the things he was saying he sounds like he might be appearing in the primary race at least.

I wonder if someone will ask him if he "believes in evolution." Apparently, that is a prerequisite for high political office in some circles.

That's all ready been done quite a few times actually. I did see Scott Walker in his recent British trip seems to have been asked about evolution recently and the brits did not receive his answer well. The British Trip is usually a good sign though that Walker is running, especially since he's just a governor, not like a Senator or such. For that matter, Huckabee also said on that same show that he may soon meet with Netanyahu.

That's a very important point to note. I've heard some theorize that the 'tower of Babel' was some sort of technology that was going to enable mankind to peer into the spiritual without God's help. In addition to universal translation, this whole research into dark matter and energy is (I believe) our present day tower of Babel. Seeing what God did last time in this circumstance, can we help it to believe that He is about to again thwart the effort?

Yeah the two top stops for someone seeking the Presidency are Great Britain and Israel. I am not surprised that Huckabee is going for Israel first given the fact he has an instinctual need to pander to the Wal-Mart shopping, Mega-Church attending, Duck Dynasty watching, crawdad eating base.

That's another thing- it will be interesting to see which Presidential candidate seeks to court the Religious Right without making a caricature themselves and the Religious Right in the process.

The evolution thing was a cheap shot. It's like asking a plumber about why your house's architect put load-bearing walls in a certain location.

Regardless of what the Tower of Babel was in a literal way, I think you touch on why it is symbolically important. I, for one, would love to see someone with supposedly real political influence comment on transhumanism and the scary things being bandied about the Tech community.

What was yesterday's science fiction is today's policy and the people in DC are either in bed with it or oblivious to it. This is something we should all be very concerned about regardless of previous political orientation.

Nothing like a little hate speech to kick-start the day huh?
