I know so any people who are rich but miserable. Often we are raised so that we can fit into the world. So many who are doing what they thought someone else wanted them to do. i believe God places passions in our heart and it is far better to follow these passions rather than try to survive.
That's the thing isn't it. One tries so hard to survive that one never really gets to the point of really living. The great thing about following God is that when you do what He has called you to do He provides you with what you need to get there. When I started studying social work, many people discouraged me, but I knew in my heart it was where my heart is. I have sometimes wondered if I made the right choice but when I look back now I can't imagine myself doing anything else. Doing what I love for God comes first. Getting payed for it (hopefully one day) is just a bonus.
Not saying money isn't important. But in the world we live in it is so easy to make money the source of our security. It should be true of us that if God took away every penny we have, we would still worship Him. Easier said than done.
