It's actually not confusing.
They are debating God that talks with them inside, and where to debate God better than in a Christian forum?
You cant prove God faulty, but you can do so with people because no man is perfect. Then you can seem "right".
ah! the internal search for righteousness.
we all know we need it, and we go about trying to establish our own
unless we have received Christ's.

and at times, even then. :(

somewhat random question....
why in the world would an atheist spend a bunch of time reading and posting at a Christian site??

i mean, they must be getting something out of it...right?
are they proselytizing? have they had success in the past?
are they just angry and lashing out?

sigh. people confuse me.
My point exactly!

I've narrowed it down to 1 of 6 possibilities?

-They are bored?
-They are bored and they need a hug?
-They are bored and their XBox is broken?
-They are bored and they hate seeing people happy?
-They are bored and since Buddhists do not use forums, they pick on us?
-They are bored?

Personally I think it's #4.

(BONUS POSSIBLE REASON?:) They hate "authority"......and they are bored?

rebellion plus a need for righteousness. not a good mix.

but who among us hasn't been there?
thank You, Lord Jesus, for making us, who were Your enemies, Your Family.

Psalms 91:1 .) He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 .) I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 .) Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 .) He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 .) Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 .) Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 .) A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

I'm very skeptical of people, but unless the person is being disruptive to the peace, it just doesn't seem to matter. Everyone acts out of motive, so I'd feel like a hypocrite and a bit prejudice for speculating.

Nice.
Wisdom again from SK?, ...I told you, you were too smart for your own good, brother. :p:)

...ummm....I "discern", out there on the forums.

Sure, we are here to learn, give some opinions, fellowship.

Most of those atheists out there though???

....are...

Not here to question if there is a God....?
no, these guys are here to try to get US to question if there is a God.

It's evil, man.

That's why I look at their post counts, and if they are past 1000....then there's a good chance, they are here to cause division, not learn.
I don't battle then, I just question their true intentions.

Haha, this Khatru's wisdom is still very limited. (The compliment is appreciated and super cool of you, though!)

And there's definitely the likelihood that many that join are on a mission to do exactly what you said. Nothing wrong with discernment so long as it's not blurred by preconception.

Eh, the liquid flame just didn't crop right. This one is the same as the first, albeit a bit more...what's the word? Refined? Sure, refined.

I changed into some more refined pants is all. :p

This is the kind of thread I always hope to see.:D An oasis of peace in a desert of online war. I like peace. I always strive for it whenever I can. I used to enjoy debates but they frustrate me these days because they go on in circles and it is clear that no one is going to change the other one's mind. And then they often seem to be very attacking.

I mostly look for fellowship when I am here. That is the need that it fulfills for me. Not that I don't have fellowship in mloney everyday life. But I often find myself sitting alone at home, bored and needing company and most of my friends are very busy so I dont get to see them often (don't you find life has become far too busy?) So its nice to have a place to chill and have a little fun.

Can I write this here SW?
Too late.:p

Wouldn't it be nice if we all lived in a forum world, where we didn't "lurk search" our friends posts on issues pertaining to the Bible?

We click, we read, we gather, we form an opinion on their walk or overall stance/beliefs?

Sort of naive to think we can assume someones life journey with Christ, by a handful of posts, huh?

I do it too.

Until recently.
I took a page out of VioletReigns book.
We all have our opinions, no one is going to agree 100% with anyone.
(Puzzling, since we all read from the same book....but still......it is what it is.)

We don't save people....God does right?
Just because someone doesn't see someone else's point, or agree, they should try not to let that effect their friendship with them.

Surely we are all at different spots and points on our journey?

That said.....so, if you all would just hurry up and get to where I am in my walk, see my side of the argument, and come to MY conclusions on matters.....we can finally stop all this needless bickering and disagreeing going on in the forums. :p

y'know, Mikey, i have no idea how long i've been saved.
i mean, the formal profession was when i was 12, with some girls from Campus Crusade.
but there was a time when i was 4 or 5, in the Lutheran church my folks took us to...
in Sunday School the teacher told us if we were ever frightened (story of my life),
we should close our hand and know Jesus was with us, holding it.
and Jesus was SO real to me at that moment...and every moment since.

but in whatever time has passed between 'then' and today, my eyes have been opened
to so many things in the Word of God...my thoughts changed...
attended about every kind of local church there is...and other than the basics never changing,
i wonder sometimes what i'll know tomorrow that i thought i knew yesterday.

but if you post what we are to think (the way you do) i'll try to catch up. :p
